Raced last weekend for the first time in years. I usually put my goggles on at the last second, constantly shake them and check for debris. Last moto with the overall is on the line. 2nd to the first turn with the first moto winner out front, LETS GO!. Get a face full of roost over the first downhill. Next jump I have a nickel size piece of dirt floating inside the ENTIRE moto....
Is it even possible that roost can force dirt in the inside the goggle or is just a strong possibility that I knocked a large piece off my helmet into the goggle? My helmet was whipped down but not detailed from the previous motos.
Try a different brand of goggle, helmet, or both.
At one point I was using Bell Moto 9 Flex helmet and whatever the mack daddy Spy goggle was at the time. The goggle frames were so large and the goggle box in the helmet was so small I consistently had similar issues that what you're describing.
I changed goggles and never had an issue after that.
Every goggles do not fit in every helmet, and the shape of the face can also affect it. You don't notice this until you try other goggles/helmet combo.
Get some Oakley's...
I'll defiantly check the fit. I'm not changing my Formula helmet. Was using the new EKS Lucid which are very similar in shape to the oakley's. They might not fit my face or the helmet. They def sit on the nose different.

Make sure your strap is tight enough to pull the foam to your face as well. The lucid strap is pretty elastic too so you have to crank them down. The armega and now armatic have a much less elastic strap so you get more even tension and stay in place really well.
While it doesn't answer your question I did see a cool little trick where you put Vaseline or something sticky on the inside bottom foam that will catch any bits of dirt bouncing around..
Based on the size it sounds like it got knocked down when you put the googles on.
Also it dawned on me that I only have this problem with my goggles with nose pieces.
689, I have to "wedge" the nose pieces goggles in, you kinda open the door for debris to fall in or get pulled in.
Spooner, Tested yesterday, even though the fit is spot on, no goggle/helmet interference and the strap sticks pretty good, the lack of tension was noticeable when you pulled the google away from the face.
Clean the shit out my helmet here on out and see what happens next moto.
