This video came up in my YouTube feed, it's about a James Stewart film that was going to be produced by Paramount Films and even had Tom Cruise involved, worth a watch, didn't know about this story, we always say that MX doesn't spark interest from mainstream media but things like this makes you think otherwise, it would be cool to hear James side of the story...
David Gordon Green was going to direct too.
Fun Facts.
“we always say that MX doesn't spark interest from mainstream media but things like this makes you think otherwise”
Hollywood would be more interested in the storyline of a person of color racing a predominantly white sport than having any actual interest in moto lol
interesting
Yikes.

That would have been gold.
Cruise involved, great buddies and co-creators Green and McBride...these guys usually involve moto bikes in their work like Vice Principals and The Righteous Gemstones.
I believe the movie was going to portray Big James in somewhat of a negative light. There were rumors of some things he may or may not have done in his younger years to support his family and their racing.
Don’t we all know someone who’s dad did shady stuff to get them to races?
I’m not saying it’s necessarily a bad thing. But I understand how the family would not want to tarnish their legacy with a movie that may or may not be accurate. This is something that I’ve heard through the rumor mill. It could be completely false.
He's right, look at the new F1 movie that Brad Pitt is making. Its goes right by the Hollywood script. A aging F1 driver brought in to help tame and mentor a wild young black F1 driver, it could not get any more of a typical Hollywood movie.
Guilty as charged!
This is both really interesting and a huge bummer. Instead of getting what seems like it would have been a super legit movie that could have given the sport some good exposure we got Supercross: The Movie. A movie so bad I made my pseudonym for this website from it.
They should make a movie about 8X Champ Kevin Sherman with Korey Hamrick as the villain
Sam Jones was supposed to be the director/producer of the James Stewart film back then. Everything was all set up (I believe Cuba Gooding Jr. was slated to play Stew) and when it came down to the final meeting to sign paperwork, the Stewarts backed out, thus ending the project. This is the same director who did the Tony Hawk documentary “Until The Wheels Fall Off” that came out a few years ago.
He recently wrapped up editing on a documentary for Ricky Carmichael that he is currently shopping around to major streaming platforms. Praying it finds a decent landing spot as I feel this could help the sport potentially get some more interest in a “Drive to Survive” type series.
Its so bad that its “good” now. Kinda reminds me of “The Room” and how popular it got for how terrible it was 😂
I still sell weed to buddies that are too lazy to go to WA to buy their own to add to my racing slush fund.
If that movie is anything like the preview, it's probably a good think that the James Stewart movie never got made.
Its looks pretty bad doesn't it but knew it would be. I think Drive to survive has done so well because its not some stupid made up story, it the real drivers and teams taking care of business and not some BS Hollywood script that we haven't seen a hundred times already.😎
Pit Row
Them strapping $100k+ camera rigs to F1 cars will be the only highlight of that film 😂
You’re right, otherwise Hollywood would of been chasing down the Greatest Of All Time, RC.
Today I learned that Danny McBride's career got started by writing a movie about James Stewart. I sure didn't have that on my bingo card.
Aside from the movie that never happened, that speech at the Hall of Fame induction was truly touching. Love Stew!
I remember watching a few episodes of bubbas world….thinking he would probably regret making these…
The RC story would be the story of being ‘trained by a woman’ and the same anti-woke-tards would cry woke.
The black man succeeding in a white sport is a story with more depth and human complexity than any other moto story could have… but you don’t want that, you want a montage of 150 wins and a training regimen. Cool 😎
The F1 movie looks bad becuase it looks bad but mostly because it’s told from the POV of the boring character. Have people not seen the Karate Kid… you don’t make the mentor the main character - the young upstart is the story. And in Karate Kid it was a which guy with an Asian mentor. In the F1 movie, considering the story here, it should be the black protagonist with Brad Pitt mentor. Its perspective.
If anyone saw Killers of the Flower Moon — it was ruined by perspective, by choosing the perspective of a bankable movie star and not the perspective of the most interesting character with the most interesting story…
‘overcoming the odds’ is the story. An often unwelcome person entering a new world and dominating is the story.
"...you don’t make the mentor the main character - the young upstart is the story."
Bull Durham would like to have a word with you.
I think the problem with a James Stewart movie is that Hollywood would focus solely on the racism he faced, rather than his ridiculous talent that helped redefine a sport. And the biggest takeaway for anyone who watched it would be that MX fans are just a bunch of racist, booger eating window lickers.
I imagine at some point while meeting to go over the script, James said, "but under the helmet, I'm a racer".
The suits nodded and giggled with minor amusement. Then they continued on with the narrative.
Big James grabs Bubba and walks out the door.
The video mentions they had everyone casted but doesn't list any actors. Does anyone know who was casted
Drug trafficking in the state of Idaho is serious. Marijuana is hard on heart and lungs. Damages the male reproductive system, testicular cancer. The chemical dependence leads to psychosis, schizophrenia and potentially other mood disorders. Makes people lazy and socially awkward, damages an individuals productivity and family life. The fact that you're bragging about trafficking in this dangerous chemical weapon makes me believe that you don't give a damn about your "friends" or the rule of law in the state you choose to live in. I do hope you are found and held accountable for your crimes after posting and bragging about these crimes.
