A day without a cell phone…

I'm one of those people who use my mobile phone (leash) very little.     I don't keep it on me/around me all day.   

They are what you make of them.  

Ask me how few apps I've installed on mine.  😆

What weirds me out, listening to the Pulp show last night, is that people let will let others track them through their phone...I don't want anybody tracking my where abouts let alone my wife.

I've thought in the past that it would be healthy to make one day a week, Amish day. But i haven't yet committed to it.

That’s what I like about going on a cruise. I don’t bother to get the Wi-Fi and no phone the whole time. Not being “plugged in” is a good feeling. 

I'm anti-cell phone gender.  Only time I have it around me is at work, and if the wife is out and about.  Other than that, good riddance.  Never had any interest in and don't participate in personal social media.  Probably only use 2-3% of the phone capability.   And as time goes by my life routine is getting more predictable and anyone that needs to know, could easily guess where I'm at, at any time.  The day I retire, so does the phone.       

I wouldn't mind having a land line again but the problem is the phone company will not do the maintenance on their infrastructure. I don't think it makes economic sense.

My mother until earlier this year had a land line in addition to a flip phone. The land line wouldn't work half the time. MULTIPLE calls to Centurylink to report it not working. Their automated phone number they give you to call in problems was a nightmare to navigate. Repair work was 3 weeks out, then they never show up or do anything. Another 30 minute call to Centurylink to find out why the phone still doesnt work and they schedule another repair guy to come out 2-3 weeks later. They fix it and 3 days later it doesnt work again.

I should put that ^^^ rant in the "Fuck that guy" thread...I'll just do it here...FUCK CENTURYLINK!

We actually still have a land line....but the reason we kept it doesn't really apply anymore.   A land line used to work even when the power went out.  Now it's a digital connection thru our ISP.    Power goes down, router is down, phone no worky.    Supposedly, there is a battery back up, but I'm not buying some other piece of equipment at some inflated price for that feature.         Best reason for having a land line now is, we can give out that number for things we dont care about...this way our mobiles don't get spammed to death with calls and texts. 

I still prefer the comfort of an actual handset.    We actually have an old fashioned wall phone with a cord and everything.     It's a great conversation piece when people come over and they're amazed it still works.    My wife refers to it as the Pee Wee Herman phone.... we even use the line from the movie sometimes.   "Shhhhhhhhhhh.....I'm trying to use the phone".

When it comes to cell phones I"m the cheapest guy in the world. Mine costs me about 25 bucks a month. Prepaid to.

I never answer my phone unless its family.  I do stare at stocks all day on my phone. Family and i play scrabble daily on it. Lol    I had myspace and never looked at it after a week, had Facebook for 1 year and have not clicked on it in years.  I get notifications of 1000s messages. Oh well. Had instagram, one post has like 750k likes i heard, i have not been there in years,  I like youtube a lot.  Been on Tictok lately. I never thought i would check it out until i heard the government wanted to ban it so i wanted to see why and basically they can't surpress free speach like the do on facebook, insta and youtube...yet. They lie like crazy on there and make fake posts non stop and its pathetic and the morons on there are next level. Mental health patients run rampant on Tictok and the sky is falling posts are bizarre  but its entertaining.  People get money going live by gifts people buy from Tictok that you gift to creators. Its weird. I see people just sitting there eating and getting 1000 in gifts for nothing a day. If you just set a camera on your cow, dog or goldfish you get money. Its weird. 

My phone pays every bill, signs every contract, all banking, trading,  groceries. Pretty much buy everything on it in life and im old  .  When i buy from Tracktor supply they price match and i flash the prices on my phone and save about 50% a week.   I dont need a phone but it makes life way easier. 

Fuck Century Link!! Their WI-FI is fucking garbage. I have a router at home. Standing next to the fucking thing, I only get one bar in my phone. Takes forever to open up a page. Yet alone, the meme thread. Anything with a bunch of pictures. FAWK! I might as well be waiting on my wife to get ready.. 

Edit: I need another road trip out into the middle of a desert. Just a tent, food, water and, a little pre-mix.
