So I just bought a completely standard 2023 350sxf. Were i live a lot of tracks have noise limits. My 350 is 2db over the limits at the measurements. I repacked the silencer but this didnt make hardly any difference.
Anyone has had the same issues? Or anybody has a suggestion how to fix this?
My yz250f stock was much louder than my FMF exhaust and the stock only lasted about 10 hours between packing. FMF goes much longer between packing.
Seems odd. I’ve always felt that 350s are pretty tame with noise. An Akra with the insert is pretty quiet… maybe try that.
23 sxf450 is also oobnoxiously loud
I went with aKro oonly bbecause its qquieter not bbecause it might make more power.
Autocorrect aabsolutely sucks
Buy an Akropovic slip on
Extremely quiet and durable, and increased bottom end on the 350.

Make all the fart wagons run a 30 pound DR650 Zookie muffler. 2 smokes could compete again.
Yeah i was already thinking of going in that direction. Just seems crazy you can’t hit the track with a standard bike. At least happy to hear about you guys telling the akra is quiet, since it’s not a small investment…
Another vote for the akro. Have it on my MC350 and my sons MC250 is noticeably louder stock
Do the newer Husky versions still have the insert? My 2019 was quieter with the baffle installed.
My buddy has one on his 450 Husky and it is way quite compared to my stock 250F. He said he didn't notice any power loss.
No they dont have them anymore
Well seems like money wasnt going to the exhaust department at KTM and they build it on/over the edge of the FIM standards
If you live in NL, you are unofficially not allowed to buy anything except HGS, Dutch pride and all.
🤑🤣
Fill the air box with rags. Get it passed. Ride on.
Haha yeah i know, and a bit cheaper as well. But from what i cam read the akrapovic should be the safest option regarding noise… was able to get a okey deal (still crazy expensive) on a full evolution set.
Standard it was measured at around 114db. I’ll update you guys on the akrapovic measurements for future reference.
Yes i’ve heard about this “technique”.. if i was to sell this bike within a few months i would give that a try, but i just got it and planning on keeping it for a few years, so don’t want to go that route with this one..
Whats ggoing on wwith Vital's autocorrect? Its fucked
If I use Microsoft laptop it's OK, can't post with android phone at all..useless
Yup, I'm on an aandroid phone. It jjust sstarted doing this a couple wweeks ago

Take the airbox lid off and put some insulation tape on the inside of the lid, it won’t hurt power and will help quiet it down overall. The airbox contributes some to the sound output.
Everything contributes! Loose bolts, etc.
Yeah i know.. also the bike measured around 114.4db cold and about 113.6 when it was warmed up. Just seems crazy to me that a modern and completely standard bike busts the FIM noise test by 2 db, even with a freshly packed muffler. 2db doesnt sound like much but its quite a lot actually.
Don’t know where you are buying your Akro, but if you are near Laurense Motors in Boekel, go talk to Hans and see if he will cut you a deal…
Thanks for the tip, managed to find a new one on marktplaats for €1335
Good price for the complete system.
You may need some high temp gasket silicone between the header and muffler, I had a small exhaust leak on mine…
It came with the small white akrapovic silicone so guess that should do the job?
I recommend pushing the exhaust manufacturers to tell you the sound data they have on their systems. That won't guarantee yours performs the same, but it should be useful. They have the sound data and won't publish it.
I would pay attention to the length of the silencer along the insulated core (longer will be quieter), and the diameter if the core (smaller will be quieter). These will be fundamentally critical. Otherwise, you're looking at a Helmholtz resonator system in the head pipe. If you get down to splitting decibels, you might try different end parts to focus the sound more, which would reduce the sound level at the microphone away from the centerline of the outlet.
Why are manufacturers producing motorcycles we can't ride?
What next, selling airplanes without wings?
Did some work on a friend's 23 FC350 recently. I was surprised how much louder it is than my KX450.
I am just speculating with no facts, but is it a possibility that KTM is selling the bike with bare minimum muffler because they have come to realize that most riders replace them with aftermarket parts?
Also the new gen black allloy muffler is much lighter and smaller than what came on the last generation bike, so it could be a weight saving trick?
Flame on….
One more thing: advancing the ignition timing reduces the noise exposure out the exhaust valves. I don't know of any mapping out there that focuses on this, but it is possible.
