It goes to 60. No moto.
Auto Racing is #32 so the motor didn't dq it as a sport.
(I agree with their #1 and # 2 though.)

A month or so ago Mark Shlereth (sp?) who played for the Broncos got on a bike and crashed 10 feet later!!! Mark is an NFL analyst on ESPN

Same. Our sport is too tough for those nimrods.
ESPN only televises something worth watching about 8% of the time, unless you like spelling bee's and Scrabble championships, then it's 9%.
I would ride 2 motos on a clapped out 80's YZ before I would Wrestle a steer. The list is stupid.
Consider the source. They're a bunch of fat golfers or ex-football players...and that's about it.
[quote:2pqzv95x]I just saw the top 60 ranking of sports, by difficulty, at the following ESPN web page:

Motocross isn't even on the list. How can that be? Are they trying to tell me that fishing, #60, is tougher than motocross? Are they honestly that friggin stupid? If ESPN had any intelligence whatsoever, MX would be on the list, and it would very likely be in the top 3, if not #1.
MX requires balance, stamina (you go try to run your heart rate at 190 bpm while doing squats three times your body weight for 30 minutes straight), speed (the reflexes of the top mx'ers have to be fast, or they'd be hospitalized), finesse, and mental toughness, not to mention exposure to some of the greatest dangers of any sport.
I remember seeing a short clip of you trying to ride an MX bike. Please don't equate putting around a dirt lot along with riding a full moto, twice in a day, at professional speeds. That'd be like me putting on a helmet, running 20 yards, and saying I know what playing football in the Superbowl is like.
Maybe you can clue in the morons who put that list together. Fishing? I didn't know drinking beer and turning a hand crank required athleticism...maybe changing TV channels should be up on that list, too.

Calling the people at ESPN names is really the right way to handle this. Good job!
And curling? Come one.
Pit Row
Funny thing was, at the time ESPN was broadcasting moto!

"We" didn't "lose" to anyone.
The experience you get from riding/racing won't change one bit based on a silly list by ESPN......
Defense? Standing around the outfield and/or bases scratching yer nuts and spitting is really, really tough. Whew.
Offense? Those guys busting ass sitting in the dugout warming the bench are frickin ironmen! How DO they do it?

Ha, ha!!! No foolin'. That alone should tell you something about that "List".
Is says it was compiled by a grand total of 8 "Panelists". Wow, 8 washed up, never was's decided the atheletisism it takes to play 60 sports. Pure science I tell you.
For those 8, running 60' to 1st base in a softball game probably is pretty tough.

I don't think the list is about deciding which sport requires the most "athleticism".....

I think you took lost to literally. I was just saying out of the 60 sports they considered difficult Curling and cheerleading were one of them.
The only credibilty they have is that it says difficult not athletic. Which is no excuse for leaving off moto, but it would explain fishing and baseball. While not that demanding it does take dedication to learn it.

OK, it says "Most difficult". The list is still garbage.
I tried that shit when I went to Canada, and its damn hard to throw that rock straight down the ice, especially after 6 or 7 Mooseheads.
Why would anyone take that list seriously anyway, it's from a network that features Poker as a "sport".
