Never really been a Hannah fan, but that was a good interview with some interesting takes.
Love him, hate him or don’t give a shit there only was and only ever will be one Hurricane!
The Hurricane instantly became a star when he came out of no where to beat up on Marty Smith and Tommy Croft in the 1976 125cc Nationals on the newly developed mono-shock, which I believe was first ridden by Tim Hart maybe a year before.
Marty was everybody's hero except Hannah's.
Those were the days my friends.
Later in the interview when he started talking about needing to "have heart" to go back and pass whoever it was that just passed you, I didn't hear Bob comment about the back and forth racing with Howerton in the 250 class, where for a while there, Kent was the fastest man on the planet.
Bob did mention he thought that Marty Tripes was probably the most talented motocrosser of his era.
My bad: at about the 33 minute mark, Bob does talk about the Howerton rivalry, which in his mind wasn't much of a rivalry.
Time has a way of playing tricks on you. I guess I'm remembering races after Hannah returned from his water-skiing injury where Kent was still faster.
Hannah vs Howerton battles 1981 . . . Howerton / Suzuki was going up in capabilities, whereas, Hannah was building back up after a year off on a Yamaha OW that was a boat anchor . . .

That is the first time i have heard Bob admit he should have toned his attitude down a bit.
