So Freecaster has become Payperviewcaster.
After announcing they will be charging for the UCI Downhill and 4X events, Freecaster will be charging 2 Euros per GP starting with Portugal.
Not a crazy price for sure, would come to 30 Euros for a season.

But for that price I want quality broadcast and not a buffering festival, and maybe they can get some cool commentators.

So we pay for the GP's live and get the first moto's live for the nationals.

Seems like a hell of a year for moto fans.

The way things are going, 2 euros will soon be worth..... nothing... so no problem, happy to pay nothing.

For sure, although last year the same was true with exception of the fee for the GP's. Smile

I heard a rumour midway through last season that Freecaster were struggling. I think they charge quite a bit to advertise and weren't getting enough to justify their service. Its a great idea in theory but no good if they don't make money. I can handle $2.50 but It aint the best picture without a decent computer. I watched 1 GP in Australia and the quality was worse too. I was surprised to see them back for 2010 given what I heard but I guess it all makes sense now they're charging. Can't really call it Freecaster anymore though huh. I hope they still archive them the day after for free though.

Here's some good news. Besides the nationals continuing to show the first motos free online, we have the Racer X Pre-Race and Post-Race Shows, and all kinds of race-related videos on www.allisports.com and Racer X Online.

We have also invited those Flying Conchords from Vurb Moto to shoot their own stuff, as well as Donn and crew at Transworld MX, and of course the Illustrious Dr. Steve Giberson (and his partner Mini Guy B.) of Vital MX . I heard even through the grapevine that Steve Matthes is even bringing back "The Bottom Line." (Okay, it was at a donut shop, but you get the point.)

It's all good, and it's all free.

It's funny how the world turns. Broadcast TV was always free, with commercial stations generating income from advertising revenue. The advent of cable and satellite TV brought the "user pays" concept with it. Now the in the internet era web based media outlets are struggling to find ways to generate revenue while providing free content!

I'm looking into putting up some torrents for everyone. I'm capturing this weekends videos right now. I just want to make sure that it's not $2.33 per moto instead of $2.33 per event. Maybe I can get some people to donate $0.25 here and there to help cover a bit of the cost.

Seeding MX2 Race 1 from this weekend in Portugal. You can play with VLC or SoThink FLV player. Some of you guys get this torrent and see what you think. If you like it, I will put a link to all the races from this season in the hall of torrents for download. Sorry that the upload is a little slow right night but I am using the work connection. Thanks

Are they free? I was charged for the replay at freecaster just this morning.

Either way, Pirate bay is not allowing me to log on to upload the MX1 races now. It's very odd .
