WTF ?  We shall take him as ours then. Mister Shimoda, I grant you immigrant status. Put him in coach.

Why is it fair for him to get chosen over any of those three if they are the best riders competing in the country they will represent? Jo doesn’t compete in their domestic series in Japan or the world championship for the federation for which the MXON is affiliated.

you are a bit confused.......ama promotocross is sanctioned by F.I.M.......Jo shimoda can race the mxdn if picked for the japan team, just like Ken Roczen for germany or Tom Vialle for france......and that is also the reason usa can compete in the mxdn.....

some americans here pretend that usa is a world apart........ they should wake up and get some information before posting

Hold up, brah, you see that magical wheelie thingy Jo performed yesterday at that practice track in Michigan ? Check out Instagram and then get back to us. That’s the sickest shit we’ve seen in months. Jo belongs in the MXDN because he’s the world’s best Japanese rider.

When did AMA pro motocross become an FIM sanctioned thing?

Because he's better than them? Are you trying to die on the hill that the Japanese series is a higher standard than ama pro in the states?

It is not governed by the FIM, but the AMA is recognized as a National Federation for FIM competitions like MXON.

Not what I said. I said why is it fair for him to be chosen over them? This isn’t about eligibility, I never mentioned eligibility. I said fairness. Those riders want to represent their country, they (I assume) are the best three Japanese riders competing in Japan so Japan has selected them

I believe that means they recognize them. Which is different to sanctioned. But hey, my point wasn’t that Jo isn’t eligible as I said.

Back in the day Brad Lackey and Jim Pomeroy represented the US in the Motocross and Trophee des Nations after competing all season in the GPs. I suppose the US should retroactively withdraw from those races.

That’s interesting I did not know that. Couldn’t even find a single reference to it in the entire AMA pro motocross rule book. You’d think they’d mention it somewhere

So by your logic the Lawrence brothers definitely shouldn’t be chosen to represent Australia at the MXDN because they don’t race in Australia and don’t deserve to be on the team because it’s not fair?

I have no idea what’s going on and maybe it’s just because Jo didn’t want to go. But your reasoning is a bit odd.

Again, I didn’t say no one deserves or does not deserve. I asked if it’s fair. I am just looking at this through the lense of the riders that were chosen that probably ride week in and week out in the domestic championship and are likely to be famous in the country and want the chance to represent their country on the world stage.

Im not saying it’s right or wrong. Just a perspective

Read what I said. Actually read it. No where have I said Jo shouldn’t be selected or isn’t eligible or entitled to. I purely said maybe Japan wants people that ride in Japan that the fans watch in their country to be the people given the chance to go. Ha so I’m “confused” but he said it’s sanctioned by the FIM (it’s not) and I’m American (I’m from England which isn’t part of America (as hard as we might have once tried))

I get what you're saying but do you feel the same way about Vialle or Ferrandis riding for France, or the Lawrence brothers for Australia, or Noren for Sweden, or Roczen for Germany, or Wilson for GB, etc.?

From Team Japan's perspective Jo is probably the difference between A final or B final.

If that's your logic, all countries who have riders who race mxgp are now screwed. Does Tim Gajser race the Latvian national championship? Or team Australia now exclusively riders who have never raced outside of the country?

It would be fair for him to be selected because he’s better than them. It may be he has chosen not to go. Honda isn’t willing to support it/spread to thin with Lawrence’s going. Or a combo of a several reasons.

some americans here pretend that usa is a world apart........ they should wake up and get some information before posting

Cool thanks for the link. Here is a link to all FIM sanctioned motocross, supercross and supermotocross world championships and secondary championships. https://www.fim-moto.com/en/sports/motocross-supercross-supermoto

I can't find any reference to Monster Energy Supercross, Pro Motocross Championship, or Supermotocross Finals. Can you?
