Trump and his team had an outstanding game plan. They anticipated Biden stumbling and countered with a coherent, relatively calm approach.  If Trump can maintain that demeanor through November it will lure many swing voters.

While the democrats consider possible replacements, the republicans are developing  new potential strategies.  Replacing Biden with Harris doesn’t make sense as she’s not well liked by her own party.  Hillary?  Maybe, but she’s already lost to Trump before. Newsome is alienating as well. If I’m the DNC I’m heavily recruiting the candidate that would give the Trump campaign fits:  Michelle Obama.

Unfortunately, neither did Barry.

Michelle Obama also solves the optics of pushing aside Harris (can't upset the alphabet crew by replacing a "woman of color" with a white guy).

And it gives Barack Obama a chance for his 4th term as the actual POTUS.

But they can't do anything until the Dem convention, Joe stepping aside before then automatically puts Kamala in charge and no one wants that nightmare even just temporarily. It would look even worse to give her the job and then take it away at convention.

Some media are saying this is why the debate was the earliest ever for Presidential candidates- if Joe shit the bed they would have time to go to Plan B.

You gotta think some DNC leaders were none-to-pleased with Biden’s VP choice.  Many forecasted the situation they’re in today and knew Harris would be a tough sell.

Trump must carefully select a running mate and steer clear of someone who mimics his actions.  Nikki Haley rubs many of his supporters the wrong way but she would be an excellent counter to Trump’s challenges with female voters. She also appears ready for the White House and appeals to swing voters.

Michelle Obama would be a tough sell, but I think she'd probably use the Trump stance of, "I didn't want to run, but I must run to save democracy".  Her downfall, this country is in far too much trouble to be playing politics with a halfhearted candidate.

Trump's V.P. pick?  What I find amazing about it is no one has any idea who it's going to be.  A strong field of candidates to choose from though.

So, The Donald is “dumb”? OK. Got it.

While we’re here, the only term you use for Joe in the same post is “old”.

And, funniest of all…your implication that RFK is the one with something “wrong” with his brain. Hmmmm…

Yup…OK…got it.

You’ve hilariously reminded me of a Norm McDonald comedy sketch about the Fantastic Four…where Mr. Fantastic obviously “doesn’t get it”…while EVERYONE-ELSE does. Laughing

what a fucking mess this 2-party system has gotten this country into.  we got two geriatric dumb fucks going head to head to see who looks dumber. arguing about golf during a presidential debate, Trump lying out of his ass and Biden falling asleep multiple times. i'm just wondering when we all wake up.  can't even make this shit up.

All three of them are bullshit choices.

Biden is an old crust who's battled a speech impediment his entire life crumbling before our eyes.
Trump is an old dumbass with a god complex who couldn't tell the truth to save his life.
And RFK is what happens when you grind up the internet into a powder and inject it into a frog egg.

Lets all agree one take away from this debate is that as we get older we need to practice breathing through our nose with our mouth closed...and blink every once in awhile to lubricate the surface of the eye.

It's interesting how people gauge intelligence. You can believe some of the dumbest things imaginable without being dumb - the smarter you are, the more clever your rationalizations tend to be. "Dumb", for most people, seems to mean something like "believes things I don't agree with". Now neither Trump nor Biden seem exceptionally intelligent, but I think it's obvious that neither are completely stupid. I think that Biden is, however, clearly diminished and Trump is clever and savvy in ways that his detractors are loathe to admit. My problem with Trump is more with his moral and psychological failings (I think it is undeniable that he is a malignant narcist). But I have an even bigger problem with people saying that perceived mental health issues (I'm not a psychologist or psychiatrist, and even if I was, I haven't examined the man) disqualify someone for office. I have my own moral failings and mental health issues and I can do most jobs just fine.

I haven't paid enough attention to RFK to comment.

I’d figured you for a well read kinda guy. RFK’s words in print are actually quite informative and are from far outside the usual corridors of power and entitlement…& that’s coming from ME! Laughing

I can whole heartedly agree this is a bit of the typical cluster-fuck; but, when it comes to Kennedys? I see RFK as one of the good ones.

I don’t know…I think you might be fuckin with me. Sometimes you damn kids are just mean to us old folks…hiding car keys…taking the spark plug out of our scooters…just mean!

Well, anyways…

We need to sit down over some beer and pizza and discuss some “outside the norm” ideas about the homeless & throw ideas around about some kind of fix…some way of putting these people back in to society in a functional and healthy status. I was in the Bay Area on Tuesday and it crushed my heart. Damn. It’s just…too much.

"Battled a speech impediment his entire life"

You usually don't resort to bullshit like this to make your points. Nobody noticed his speech impediment until a couple of years ago.

Biden has been just as full of shit as Trump his entire political career. He's a loud mouth bully and a congenital liar. He has no room to claim any moral high ground compared to Trump or anyone else.

I was reading somewhere that if every church in the USA committed to helping (housing, medicating, job training, etc) something like 1.5 homeless people the problem could be gone. I haven't looked into the numbers, so I don't know how real that is, but for a tax except organization that rakes in a shit ton of money (and tends to pay itself pretty well) it's an interesting thing to think about.

Not that you can force the church to do anything, but, it does align quite well with their values.

Funny how for months the media has been gaslighting their viewers stating,

"He's sharp as a tack"

Then we see them crowd around him as he walks towards aircraft, so we don't see him stumble.

We see them try to hide the audio of the Hur sessions.

We listened as we heard their recent claims of, cheap fakes.

All the time we've been seeing him mumble, stumble, wander off on the wrong direction, completely brain lock over, and over again.

And now after a week of "prep", everyone saw what we've been seeing all along, and what every media outlet and politician deny.

Makes you wonder what else they're lying to us about ??

My guess, pretty much everything they say into the microphone.

I'm not aware of any churches that have mental health care professionals or drug counseling on staff, nor have drug treatment centers. So the idea is essentially just passing the buck to the Christian folks because someone is mad they get tax exempt status.

How about something that actually makes sense. Liberals are 4 times more likely to use drugs. They also make up a good portion of professions of the arts. There is also a tendency to glorify drug use among those arts. How about if every wealthy actor, director, musician, etc did what is suggested the churches do?

Also, it would help the situation a lot more if the government just stopped doing those things that contribute to homelessness.

Edited to add:

Sorry, I'm not trying to bag on you because I do see a point to what you posted. Just sharing a different picture.

Ive been hearing for months now that Jill will have none of this talk that Joe should step aside.

Looks like she has more ambition then he does and that ambition can't be played out through her so she will continue to prop her husband up.

Its sad.

Look at how much money California spends on the homeless problem and the number of homeless people has increased . Until Xi came to town they were able to clean that shit up real quick. Homelessness isn't a problem for the people making a living off of it.

Like I,m a progressive educated forward thinking open protester etc etc blah blah blah. Give it a rest  . They think there the New elitest of the world. The new colonist  where going to change the world. They can’t even change there own flat tire.

Still all awful choices.

I don't disagree with you but I will say this.  RFK may have some out there views, most of which I really don't agree with, but based on some long form interviews I've listened to (Lex Fridman's interview with him was outstanding if you're interested) his general grasp of foreign policy and desire to keep America out of conflict is encouraging to me.  I've also seen no evidence he would force any of his beliefs on others (such as a ban on vaccines or anything like that), just give freedom of choice.  For this reason I can look past some of his obvious flaws, he's not my ideal candidate by any means but given the other choices of Bad and Worse it's the only path I see.

Either way, it's an absolute slap in the face that our current parties think so little of us peasants that they thing they can put those two fucking dumbasses up on that stage and expect us to just be grateful for the passive idea that we have some kind of say in what they do.

It's not that they think so little of us, it's that they don't think of us at all.

Joe is doubling down on staying in the race, probably just talk but he is pretty stubborn. He probably just didn't get the memo yet that he will step aside at the Dem convention.

The irony is not lost on the lack of the usual suspects chiming into the debate threads (with the exception of  AKWB to his credit), kind of hard to come defend that shit show of last night.
