Saw this one coming, unfortunately he didn't gel with the Beta at all.

Goes to show that beta not getting better. Had heard multiple failures during the offseason of frames breaking and other odd issues.

Just shows how much R&D that goes in to a top tier bike.

This is nothing new for us europeans that see people try to race on small brands like Beta, TM and GasGas (when it was a real gasgas and not a KTM).

To some people the bikes looks exotic and often have some machined parts that look trick, but in the end, those brands often struggle with reability.

A friend was a factory TM rider in the world enduro championship back in 2008 and early in the season he had broken close to 10 gearboxes.

Look at how long KTM has been around as a brand and how long it took them to build competitive bikes. And they still don’t have the same durability as a Japanese bike.

Colt needs a better bullet. Rode the heck out of the Kawi last outdoor season for a minute. Maybe Triumph or Ducati.

Because Colt wasn't the most professional about the situation. I like Colt. He's a great dude and a good rider. But, He's kind of a finicky rider to begin with but being as negative as he was, I really can't blame Beta. Again, Colt is a great guy, but you need to be more professional than he was. Factory Teams do not take well to being thrown under the bus like he did. And he knows that. Maybe being on a privateer team riding a Kawasaki was more for filling for him. Good luck to him though

When did he do any of this?

I must have missed this. Can you elaborate on what he said or did?

Yeah he never looked good on that bike. Awkward looking machine. Good move on his part.

I think it's gonna be a long road for Beta.

They hardly have a strong presence in off road, which is supposed to be their bread and butter, except for their Factory guys and the hardcore trail riders who love carburetors.

Everyone is quick to dis on the bike look at what bloss did on it. At the start of the season expectations where flipped on what rider was going to do better. Maybe Nichols is turning into another headcase rider on 450's.

Bikes are popular in Europe in the enduro scene , can’t speak for the USA side , I don’t know what he was expecting to be honest it’s a new bike these things take time

With Triumph 7th and 11th in the point standings I think it took some of the shine away from Beta. I know it's 250 vs 450 and thank you.

True.

They had 2 of the best 5 guys in EnduroGP until this year, too bad for them they couldn't keep Freeman and Holcombe from bickering.  Holcombe is actually better than I thought he'd be this year given his self proclaimed dislike of 4 strokes previously.

Makes Triumph look really impressive...

Mega motorcycle manufacturer vs. a small family owned company. Apples to Watermelons.

Beta beat Triumph in the manufactures championship for SX

I partially agree.

With that said, I mean this with absolutely zero disrespect, the Beta effort looks half-assed at best. I'm not saying it is, but it looks that way. I know Triumph is a much bigger brand, but they made Beta look amateur at best.

With Bobby Hewitt, Dave Arnold, Ricky and the Triumph Factory behind their effort I can see why Triumph looks so much more professional. I'm happy that at least Beta is trying and it may take a few years to really have a super competitive bike but in the mean time I'll just enjoy watching their progression

Beta USA (Tim Pilg) is the one who runs/supports the race team here with marginal factory support at best. It really is just a small group of people in Paso Robles trying to take on the giants or our sport. I applaud that and not just because I own a Beta. Smile

You'd think that drag racing money would be beneficial to actual supercross/mx

I'm far from a marketing guru, but it seems there is a lot of potential crossover business with Drag Racing fans who also ride motorcycles.
