Just spent 5 days and 4 nights in a rented house in northern Baja. Didn’t want to come back. If it wasn’t for the kids, grandkids and business all here I’d move down there in 2-1/2 seconds and never look back. My old neighbor lives across the street from where we stayed, He “bought” his house for 85k a few years ago. Has a 30 year lease that yes, the Mexicans could theoretically take away anytime. Meanwhile his housing and utility cost is 350 a month, he has a Kawasaki mule he uses to go to the beach, he runs his dog on the beach every day, has a beautiful home with every creature comfort we have here, he has a Jeep and enough money to head south and or over to the gulf side and stay in hotels for extended periods, he’s never looked more relaxed and is truly enjoying a stress free life. It’s bitchin here, I’ve been in so cal my whole life, but...... fuck man I don’t need to tell you guys. It ain’t the laid back surf towns we grew up in anymore.

I was just watching this road in California that averages 34 car break ins a day and you can go watch like a tourist attraction as they smash any car that has any visible item in broad daylight every single day and zero arrests or documentation. You couldn't find a road that has 2 a year here. I didn't have front door keys to 2 of my houses for a decade and my best friend still leaves his garage open and goes on vacation regularly with bikes and toys galore but but the news says Florida...
Criminals Rob the Blue areas but only vacation in Florida because every mom and grandma has a pew pew. Sure there is exceptions but more people move to Florida a day than anywhere in the world so we do get all types but most learn quick. FAFO state. Consequences work.
I will say we moved from Austin to Iowa and it is awesome being here. Old school values, low population and everyone is extremely nice. We live in a new neighborhood and eve try ones garages are always open.
It's still fine in many areas if all you will be doing is visiting. Living here? Different issue.
