I remember that race well -- went to dinner with Ken and his family and also took them to a local spot to practice -- and I still think he's the most improved rider I have ever seen. He went from mid-national-pack B rider here (he was admittedly uncomfortable, and Loretta Lynn's is something you have to experience a time or two to really figure out) to a GP-winning rider in less than a year. That's just astonishing.

Eric Geboers 5 time World champion said this on Sunday about Ken -

" He is a better version of everyone mixed in that has been in the history books.(GPs) ....Name it all, just name it all, he has it, he is smart, he uses his brains."

"He knows a lot what to do himself he doesn’t need much advice, but when we give him advice his listens, his ears are open. His big problem was sand but we made him a plan two years ago to get good in sand because the rest he had under control for sure. He followed this plan 100% and you see the results"

No BIGHEAD1's right, Roczen is pretty shit...

I mean, a 13 year old German kid goes all the way to the USA to race kids two years older than him at LL's and only places 10th! I doubt he's any faster now either.

I spoke to him at the area qualifier and asked why he didnt ride schoolboy. He said he wanted to race the best. Extremely impressive as a 13 year old.

Man you Euro's are sensitive.

Do you think this was posted, as DC stated, just to show how astonishing the kid has come n a year and a half or so?

impressive if you ask me.

Also shows how crazy LL's is as an amatuer.

I'd like to see what would happen if he went to LL this year. He'd be 16 and racing against 16/17 year olds.

I cant wait till he races Cianciarulo again...

http://www.racerxonline.com/article/5-minutes-with-adam-cianciarulo.aspx

"Do you know of any of the riders on the GP circuit?
Ken Roczen is the only guy I know. I raced him like three years ago at the Mini Os. I was like nine years old in the 85 7-to-11 class. He came over as a 12-year-old racing as an 11-year-old and I got to race him.

Did you beat him?
No. I got walked. I was schooled. I think I got third. I think it was him, Zach Bell and me.

But he had three years on you...
Yeah."

Thats crazy.....I mean being 13 and running that pace for 20+ motos.. The top B riders run Pro pace or better. That is truly impressive. Yeah I wouldn't want to see what he could do to the field now like Joe101 said

Weimer beat him by 20 sec @ mxdn last year. Still very impressive for an almost 16 yr old. Is Herlings younger than him?

Roczen actually looks a lot like the young Eric Geboers who came out of nowhere at 16 on a factory Zook' and podiumed right away in the GP's...(that's on the bike; in person, he looks like... Justin Barcia!).

I was at the GP yesterday and there is no doubt in my mind that Roczen is the real deal.

Turns out that, as we know, Musquin is the real deal also (he knocked himself out a good 90s in front of me on saturday -very scary- and it was a miracle he saved those points on sunday (from such a bad gate pick too).

And Herlings... just unbelievable too.

Mark my words : there has not been such a power trio in the small GP division for... I'd say for as long as I can remember, I'm gonna leave it there.

But I was close to say "forever" !

No it was BIGHEAD fishing for Sailfish. He, like a few others seem to be fixated by the fact that Barcia beat Roczen at Loretta's for some unexplicable reason.

Are U stupid????

a Year ago Rockzen came 2 Holland 2 race the DUTCH opener....

He got 18th Both motos

Behind some locals...

But that does not say S**T.

In the 100 days after Rockzen got 10 seconds faster.. he was 13 years old..

and the others.... They where still at the same paste...

I dont want 2 say HERLINGS is the fastest rider today.. But.. as U know Cairoli won from reed. while reed was the national champ...

Take a look at this...

I got these results from the website of Youthstream.

1st moto's

--- ---------------------------------TIME ----- LAPS--- FASTLAP

1 222 Cairoli, Antonio ITA KTM 40:47.473-- 20-- 1:54.070

1 111 Herlings, Jeffrey NED KTM 40:38.808-- 20-- 1:52.000

2 94 Roczen, Ken GER Suzuki 40:50.346-- 20-- 1:52.712

2nd moto's

1 111 Herlings, Jeffrey NED KTM 39:11.832-- 19-- 1:53.359

1 222 Cairoli, Antonio ITA KTM 39:16.455-- 19-- 1:54.984

in the Qualifing race the top 3 mx2 riders ran faster lap times than the mx1..

And musquin and herlings where the only 2 riders who ever ran a 1.46 that weekend.

I don't C barcia ridin faster than RV or Dungey

One has to wonder if we currently have any fifteen year-old American riders

capable of winning an AMA National and, which prompts the question - have we

EVER had a 15 year old "capable" of winning a National ?

I don't think even the great Bubba was, at 15 - at that level - was he ?

I still believe that both Herlings and Roczen would currently smoke Barcia at a neutral track and I would have to be proven otherwise.
