Might as well let the kid get a taste for being a factory rider while he is young because odds are he will never do it as an adult.

No disrespect, just reality

They probably bought the rig and extra bikes with the money saved riding smokers. Wink

"The kid holeshotted the Mini Os"

DB125 Holshotted and led A1 on a 450 whats your point ?

No Disrespect to Daniel Blair Iam HUGE fan of his
What i meant by he holeshoted the mino o's is that he has potential. He was even leading some laps untill he fell. He was even able to go back to 6th i believe. I said that becuase it seemed like everyone thought he was just a kid that had all the money and equipment and wasnt even showing results or running at the top of the class.

Of course it is necessary. I'd rather see the dad pay 2 guys to take videos and wrench on the bikes than having 2 unemployed dudes stealing bikes.
Living large is the American way of life.If you have some money, it is your patriotic duty to go spend it.

He sure seemed like a pretty mellow, well manned kid. Cant say much for the group around him, but the kid himself sure doesnt seem to deserve any bashing. He is probably having the time of his life.

oh and Mark (tbteam) i really doubt that "film crew" is getting paid much. They look like just a bunch of yahoo's just having a good time.

I spent a lot of time wishing I had all this stuff growing up but none of those kids with all the fancy stuff ever beat me on a regular basis.

Then I got older and found out there was a whole other level below me wishing they had all my trick stuff and opportunities I had.

This stuff will all balance out and the reality of life is motocross isn't necessary let alone excessive spending at it.

A few things come to mind here. Maybe the title of the thread should have been........if you had $1 million, would you???? I did not get the feeling that the person who posted was "hating" or had something against this family, it was just a refrence point and a good one at that.

To me, some of the responses had way more "haterade" flowing than the original person. I'm sure we could all trim the fat a bit on this guys setup, but it's all relative to what you got, what you make................period.

I would think the video guy and photo guy do work for more than one family/rider and that helps spread the expenses, same for the trainer and nutrition. I'll say this, it's a little excessive for me, but I'm sure I've had my share of excessive or questionable expenses in other people's eyes. Badmouthing the kid, his results etc etc is not necessary, thats for sure. For the family, good on ya.

Rizzo I agree. There is far too much hate in this thread. it's pathetic to spew hate purely because of your pathetic jealousy people, and talking down about a 14 yr old boy is about as pathetic as it get's.

By now I'm sure the family has read this thread and I'm wondering what they think of all this.

If I had the money I doubt I would have that big of a setup until my kid started getting results. Sure it would be nice, but completely unnecessary.

Some questions for some of you here.

How many of you live in big nice houses?
Is it necessary?

How many of you drive very nice cars?
Is it necessary?

How many of you have 50" plasma TVs?
Is it necessary?

Get over it guys. If they family chooses to spend their money on the big race set up then who cares?

Exactly. Nothing is necessary but food, water and shelter.

If he's doing all that and not living outside his means, who cares? There are other amateur motorsports that make this family look like they've hardly spent a dime. Ever gone out to see the rigs that show up to dirt/circle track races? How about the drag strip? Those guys spend insane coin.

The fact that our sport doesn't have more stuff like this shows just how small the overall popularity is. In motorsports with real money even the privateers travel in our idea of factory style.

At least the actual kid seemed OK. But how do you teach a kid like that the value of the dollar?
That is my only concern with this, but if they can teach them, then great.

Good point regarding the comparison to drag racing and circle racing.

As far as I see it.......if the dad is racing at LL's too, it's all good.

Why the fuck would you show up in a pick up if you got (or grandad got) mad loot.

The kid is fast.

It's a motor sport and equipment matters....so get the best.

Be prepared (get a trainer, a cook, driver, mechanic and coach) The kid is only got one chance.

Mommy loves her boy too so put her in a nice bed. All the races are in shithole towns so get a great bus and send her in to cook.

But Daddy should be racing too. He's young enough to tell the kid to push it 2 feet harder in to a turn.

AND HAVE THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE EVEN IF THE FACTORIES DONT CALL!

I love Motocross, always did. Make sure your kid does too.

Matt Tedder will tell ya.

Event Finish Summary
2008 AMA National Amateur Motocross Championship - 8/2/2008 - Hurricane Mills, TN
Class Number Brand Moto 1 Moto 2 Moto 3 Class Finish
85 (12-13) Stock #63 SUZ 30th 32nd DNS 42nd
85 (12-13) Modified #63 SUZ 32nd 19th 31st 29th

I don't know the kid or the family at all, and definitely not meant to be an attack on them at all. Just curious of everyone's thoughts. It has me shaking my head, but then I think, if I could provide my son that when he's old enough to ride, I wonder if I would?
Its totally retarded, but if I was rich, I would buy a funmover and 2 new bikes and race the whole supercross and outdoor series just for the hell of it to say I did it once.

Someone needs to teach that kid how to ride better though, he sits down way too much, and doesnt have that good of form, these rich fag yuppie dads that put all this money into it push there kid/s and cant even realize hey maybe I better have someone, a pro whatever spend some major time with him, learning all the basics and how to ride perfect first, I see so many young kids now that look like hell but go fast, part of the reason for all the injuries I think personally, but?

so true, but mini dads like tony alessi know all......... kid seems to be down to earth and maybe with the right coaching he could get to the next level.

Rich fag yuppie dad? Did you really need to go there? You sound pretty jealous with that low ball statement.

How do you know he hasn't had pro lessons? Maybe you should send him an email and offer yourself up.

Well the dad was acting that way, and looked the part, so I called it as I saw it.

And the kid would benefit from some better riding lessons, he needs to get on a big bike hes looking borderline to big for a 85 anyway.
