Take out moves are saved for the last lap or when you are angry with a guy. Not on lap 10 with a championship at stake. You have a 50/50 shot at riding away while the other guy is on the ground. RV is not dumb enough to intentionally try that move at that point in the race. It was a block pass that went bad.
no it was a takeout that went bad .... well actually it didnt , because rv took over the lead , so it worked .

Putting your rear wheel on the other guys front wheel is a take out move... Karmas a dirty red headed bitch, but RV was out of line on that pass. Love RV, but that was stupid.
Watching Dungey standing on RVs bike while RV was lifting was hilarious though.

it was definitely a take out and not too smart given the risk of taking yourself out and damaging your bike. End of the season, last lap, maybe. But he's been able to catch, pass, stay in front of Dungey pretty well, so why take a risk like that at this point?

Really a shame he's hurt.

Most of the people on this board are OK with take-outs as long as it is not Barcia doing it.

Ding ding ding. I wonder what kind of threads would have been on here today had the roles been reversed between the Ryan's?

Looks like RV hit him pretty hard, but they mention he was looking at his brake so I'm wondering if he went to lock up the rear wheel and turn down and instead plowed RD by accident. Just a possibility. However if RV ment to take out RD then RV got what he deserved.
So if he "ment (sic) to take out" Dungey, Villo got what he deserved? So last year, if Reed had been successful in knocking Stewart down in Vegas, so he could win the championship, he would have deserved what? Death? Drawn and quartered?

According to you then, basically every rider out there should suffer a debilitating injury, because I guarantee each and every one of them has taken guys out at one time or another. RV just didn't pull it off cleanly...Big Fucking Deal.

At least I threw out the possibility that it may have been an accident. I haven't heard anyone give him that so far. I would rather not see anyone win because they took out someone else. Do they deserve death? No that is not what I meant. Do they deserve to lose? Yes

I don't really get the issues people have with Barcia. He's not gentle, but there have been rougher.

Imagine the crap RC would have gotten if the internet was at the point it is now back in the first few years of his career.

that pass should be reserved for the last lap at the last race for the title.
You crack me up.. It was a type of pass that's been done for years. I personally didn't see anything wrong with it. Rubbing is racing...
You crack me up.. It was a type of pass that's been done for years. I personally didn't see anything wrong with it. Rubbing is racing. When Trey put RV into the pole everyone seemed to be ok with it and it was on like the 5th lap of a 1r5 lap race. RV goes for it and you people put him down even when he's laying in the hospital with what sounded like a compound fracture that could end his career..
Agreed

He just got lucky. If Villopoto wouldn't have crashed he would have showed you who the real champ is.

If you think that wasn't a take out move you either A: are new to the sport, B: have vision problems.

I like RV, but to try a move like that, that early in the race was not too wise, especially since he took himself down as well. The way he was riding I'm sure he could have made the pass if he would have bide his time and found Dungey's weakness. The crash later was really unfortunate. RV mad a simple mistake and it cost him...big.

Too bad, it was shaping up to be an epic battle to the finish of the season!

Saying RD turned down on RV is freakin' crazy. I suppose he is supposed to suspend himself in mid-air and defy gravity while RV sits under him so they don't make contact. Please.

IMO, the shot from the back of the berm on TV clearly showed RV was attempting a block pass. He took it in deep with intentions to block RD but left him no where at all to go, which caused the crash. IMO, RV should have been more patient with 10 laps to go and the need to win each round. He didn't need to force a pass right there if he was faster, and I believe he was. That wasn't a smart move with the title in sight.

Unlike many people, I think RD has good things to say in some interviews. However, in this case I didn't like him saying "You never want to win that way".. I disagree. If a guy crashes and you don't, you were better that race and beat him, straight up.

Congrats to RD on the championship. He was fast and smart all season. Only made one huge mistake and he deserves the title.

This coming from the guy that cried like a girl when Brown punted Short some years back at the US Open I believe it was. I appreciate what you do for kids Bauer, and I had a place mat of you way back there so, I'm glad you've finally seen the light yourself.

Good post...
Villo just got a bit overzealous on that one. Which just happens to be one of his strong points.

For everyone that is wondering, this is how it is done...

Which is also why it makes me laugh that people thought Chad was trying to take out Stewart at Phoenix... Or at any of the races in 2009... It's not like he doesn't know how to do it!!!! Smile

Villopoto was clearly faster, he didn't need to do a hard block on Dungey, he was either out of control or stupid, but yeah it's bad karma all the way!.

RV was like a rocket into that corner while RD was tentative due to lappers. RV DID get under him and was turning the entire way....he didn't drive up into him or ghost it straight into RD in a 180 corner. RV knew where RD would apex the corner and wasn't so concerned about it because he felt he had the line once under RD.

If RD was unaware that RV could get that close then he misjudged his lead and RV's desire. Don't give up the inside line if someone is gunning for you .....go inside and that contact doesn't happen.....especially when there are 2-3 lappers scattered about....

true... i was an RV fan before RD came along and I live in the same town as RD's hometown so... still like RV and can not fault him for that attempt, i would've done the same.
Happy for RD, but not happy RV is hurt...
