Thinking of taking my son to hangtown this year. I’ve been a couple times in the past with general admission and it wasn’t great due to the heat. Thinking of going with either infield seats, Big Moe Hill or maybe even VIP. They all seem to be in tented or covered areas which I’m thinking will help with the heat some.
What is everyone’s opinion on the best experience ?
Anyone know of any discount codes or deals ?
Hangtown always feels like you have to grit it out. Either hot or rain. One year they ran out of food. It’s usually a round I leave the family at home to be honest. Still love the track just my experiences after many visits.
Does Hangtown still have free pit access? I noticed on the ticket site there were pit passes for sale.
For sure it’s usually pretty rough. My son is 7 so I’m now thinking of going general admission and pit passes get some posters and signatures watch a bit of the races and leave when he’s over it. I know he’s more or less just wanting to meet Jett Lawerence and get a signed poster.
General admission you have to buy passes but some premium tickets come with them.

If you believe the weather app, the heat is supposed to hit before the weekend now, and then Saturday will be relatively mild. I would say this plan is probably the best, if it was my son and I it would be a risk to spend all that money on VIP or exclusive areas and then have him be over it halfway through the first moto.
Just my opinion but I'd get general admission and pit passes, hopefully he can meet Jett and then everything after is just a bonus for time with your son. Leave when he's over it so he wants to go back next year.
That sucks. That was one of the things that made Hangtown so cool was the free pit admission with any ticket.
They changed it a few years ago unfortunately, about the same time the general admission ticket prices went from $40 to $65, lol.
That jump from $40.00 to $65.00 was a shocker too
But was there $25 ($100 for a family of 4) dollars of added value to the event or are we getting boned? Was the experience better? Were there more porta potties and shorter lines at concessions?
Only thing there were more of was fences.
The best and only way to experience Hangtown is in the VIP section. Anything else is an utter hell hole. Ain't no way I would spend an entire day in the baking sun. Besides, there's very few flat spots to spectate throughout that entire track.
You have to be one die-hard fan to endure a full day in the blazing Sacramento sun.
VIP tickets are worth every penny.
Even high 80s in the sun all day is tough for a kid. Bring some shade (at least an umbrella), there is not much shade to be found at Hangtown
I know I’m getting soft but I’m glad it’s not just me. I love moto but after the long walk 8 times, not great viewing and heat still some years I wonder what I was thinking.
I need to try VIP.
Bring some sun umbrellas and lots of water. We go every year. Last year I brought the whole family and it was just too hot to he enjoyable. This year I’m just taking my 6 year old.
Not to derail this thread completely but as I was reading through the replies it made me wonder if each track charges their own rate for tickets vs. it just being a flat rate across the board for all the events. $40 tickets? $65 tickets? I can't remember the last time Spring Creek was that cheap and it made me look it up. Now it looks like it's even up $15 from last year... Perhaps this is also where some of the SMX money is coming from vs. just Peacock.
