How much does SLC/Utah pay?

I know that Utah Sports (or whatever it is called) pays to hold the finale in SLC. But how much? Seems really lame to have the biggest race of the year in a stadium with metal bleachers and a city with zero nightlife. Could be so much better at nearly any other stop.

I’ll tell you what isn’t lame…. The state of Utah allowing SX to finish the 2020 SX series when every other state denied them during Covid. I think they have earned it. And to be honest, I think it’s a nice stadium. Nightlife isn’t bad, just gotta know where to go. Just my opinion.

It's only the biggest race of the year if the points are close. Could be the lowest attendance race of the year for the next 3 seasons.

EVERY other state?!? We had a residency in Dallas and I’m sure Jerry Jones would have LOVED to have the final rounds here.

I didn’t question the attendance just the location.  For what it’s worth it’s also one of the smallest stadiums on the circuit so I hope it would sell out.

I’m wondering how much they paid to have the best race be in the worst location. Literally any other stop would be better.

Took you longer to write (or whatever it is called) than to just say Utah Sports Commission.
Also, there is plenty of night life in SLC, if you can’t find it, that’s on you.

I’ll even argue that the stadiums proximity to downtown, and the airport is much better than most of the other venues.

Correct. Most small cities are more convenient than traversing larger cities. My question remains if anyone has an idea of how much Utah Sports Commission (just for you Johnny) pays the series? I believe every other stop it works the other way around.

I love the mountain biking around SLC and it’s a nice city. Admittedly I’m not looking for a party but never had a problem finding a good beer, except at the stadium of course 🙂 This time of year the weather can be on and off but usually the track comes around either way.

We sell beer in the stadium now!

the venue and floor space are a bit lacking but attendance yesterday was really good and the stands were even more full after the lightning delay.

the price USC paid is in the millions. I think it was a 5 year deal to have the finale here.

That’s cool! That will provide some good revenue. It looked packed on TV

I think he's saying Jett will have such a points lead, no point in going.

Nope, not in this case, USC (going from a bad memory) paid them to host the final race for something like 10 years. They probably figure that after 10 years it'll just be a given. And I read somewhere that they don't want it in the new Raider Stadium. Skeptical of that one though.
