Thought I’d share a quick resto I did recently. Not a super rare bike, but still nice... A 1996 GT Interceptor. Had a Mach One and Pro Performer as a kid- may try to find one of those next..
The chrome on this bike was completely flawless, not a single dent, ding or scratch. Quite unbelievable for almost 30 yrs old. Just polished everything up with some Mothers.
I was originally thinking I’d let my son ride it occasionally, but decided this one will likely never be ridden.
So much easier restoring a BMX bike, versus the cars, snowmobiles, motocross bikes and other shit I’ve done over the years. This one I actually finished..

My wife's company makes parts for one of the top bicycle frame manufactures. He might just have welded that frame back in the day. Nice job, Nice display piece.

I wanted a Dyno GT back in the day so bad…parents couldn’t afford one, and I was left with whatever bikes we could afford (usually second hand beaters)…so I just coveted all the neighbor kids bikes and used my bike as an excuse whenever they’d do jumps I didn’t dare do lol (if I had a bike as nice as yours, I’d do it…I’m not doing it on my POS…hahaha…)
Excellent job. A few of us had them as kids and I can't even remember what happened to mine but about 20 years ago one of my childhood friends moved to Alaska and his mom gave me his 20" Schwinn and it's in my attic. Everything is good except a little surface rust on the wheels which is amazing because we did grow up on a 7 mile long island. When I was recovering from a bad injury years ago i bought a Haro xl frame and built it piece by piece while stuck in bed. Still have it but it needs new wheels.

Very cool . I had a Mongoose back in the early 80s (before it was a Walmart brand) . Before that I had a Ross Snapper . Not a high level bike at the time but I think it would be cool to find one of those to restore anyway.
Sweet ride, that thing cleaned up nice! They just had a vintage bike festival in Vail Lake (Temecula) called "Dirty Fest". Lots of that era bike and racers out there, even McGrath showed up!

Nice. I've long wanted to find/build/restore a 1981 Diamondback like the one I had as a kid. It got stolen when I was older and I was heartbroken.

My "BMX" days were the late 70's/early 80's.....had a Schwinn. I Kept braking the standard steel frames....I held the record for highest/furthest jumps and stupidist tricks back in those days. Schwinn warrantied the frames and they got tired of replacing them, finally gave me a chrome-moly frame. I think I broke every part on that bike except those cast wheels. My brother has that bike now, I gave it to him for his kid.

My dad restored my first bike for my kids a while back. They really didn't ride it much, as I was afraid to ruin it...
I just finished rebuilding my race bike from 2001 as well. This is a custom chromoly frame built in Northern California. First picture is Sea Otter Classic 4x course.

I had the same bike when I was a kid, had a red seat though. Really easy bike to get off training wheels. I tried to find one when my kids were learning
When I was in grade school I had finally gotten enough money to buy a GT Mach One- my first nice BMX bike. It was stolen off my friends porch and never saw it again. I remember that day like it was yesterday- Some time after that we had an idea who stole it, but could never prove it. Local dirt bag kid.
I had forgotten about this kid (obviously adult now) until I came across a posting he had on Facebook Marketplace several months ago- I thought about messaging him..
Maybe you'd get lucky and he still has the bike, wants to do right by you and give it back. Hey, one can dream.
Uh, no - gold Arayas just like in the pic. My frame and fork were chrome. I'll have to dig out a picture if I can find one.
