McCread..I agree with your post. When I said inconsistent I was talking about top 3's. Most everyone was predicting their top 3's and it seemed like you were questioning why nobody had Ramon in there and I was just giving my opinion why.

Probably the most inconsistent guy on the GP tour is Pourcel. One week he'll ride around outseide the top 5-10 then the next week he'll smoke the world by 15 seconds.

I personally think the favorite for the title this year is Desalle(not just cause he's my favorite gp rider). I think Desalle has more heart then anyone else out there and wants to prove a huge point before he migrates to the states in the next couple years. The last 1/2 of the season last year I felt CD was the most consistent guy out there and IMO was on inferior equipment.
I was at washougal last year when he came to the states and the kid was on it there too and once again he was on a privateer bike, didn't know the track and had never raced the US competition before. The kid came out in qualifying practice and set the fast lap his 2nd lap on a track he'd never been on before. I was answering the question "who is that kid on the honda in ufo gear" all day long. If he didn't crash in the 1st turn of the 2nd moto I think he had a great shot of winning the overall.

Either way I can't wait to get this year started..

I've never seen her ride but for a girl to come in and knock off Livia and Stefy would be huge. Not to mention Franke should be on the gas this year too. I love watching little Franke on a 250f. She looks like a 10yr old boy in gear. She can't be more then 5 ft 1 inches tall and she hauls ass. Without knowing anything about Kane my top 3 in the girls class prediction would be. Although I don't think the girls series starts til April 4th in Sevlievo.

1st Stefy Liaer

2nd Livia Lancelot

3rd Maria Frank

Unless Ashley shows up then I would put Ashley 3rd. I think by the end of the season Livia will be putting to Stefy but since Livia is just coming back from injury after missing the last 4-5 rounds last year I think it may take her awhile to get back to 100% of her speed. I will say this though. The GP girls seem to be a click ahead of the USA girls right now.

I agree with that except Ramon has an outdoor title. I guess if RC got hurt one year like Coppins did that year KW might have one too.

I also like Desalles riding style, but in the early races he hasn't been as comfortable on the Suzuki as on the Honda. I think the whole situation with being on a factory team may take some time for him to adapt to. Now he has thousands of options to consider and also more pressure. I think he will win races and do great, but maybe not initially to judge by his preseason results

Agree about Desalle althougnh Cairoli is extremely determined as is Phillipearts,

If you combine Desalle with Ramon you would have some rider! Maybe that is what Suzuki is hoping lol

Your point about - who is that kid- is exactly what I don't understand about the US mx fans - why are there not more Americans like you who watch both series.. I still find it hard to understand how motocross fans in the US never heard of so many World Championship riders lol perhaps I will never understand that mentality - why not just follow both? they are both fantastic ! Maybe the US GP will help.

Don't rule out Strijbos that guy is soo talented, if he gets his confidence he could win a couple. Agreed about Pourcel, De Dycker and De Reuver are the same, but Marc seems to be looking for consistentcy this year.

Barragan is pretty consistent if he doesn't get hurt, he was in contention last year till his injury.

I keep forgetting about Charlier in MX2 as well as Herlings, Frossard Van Horebeck, Tonus was a class act at Mallory as well he could be top 5/8 in MX2 this weekend plus Osborne and Nicholls...

Agreed about the Windham/Ramon comparison two very similar riders, awesome natural talent, I could watch guys like that all day.

McCread----I think the answer to the question why most americans don't watch both series is because up until recently with the internet it was hard to follow the GPs. Before freecaster there was media zone (which charged) and before that we couldn't watch the gp's other then the occasion when an offbeat cable channel like outdoor network would show highlights of them. I've been following the GP's since the early 80's because Laporte was friends with my pops but it was always tough to get real coverage prior to the internet. I also think allot of americans think it's way inferior to the ama because of their usa pride. Me personally I know better then that. I personally think outdoor mx is all there is(sx gets me through the winter) and the GP's have BY FAR the best tracks in the world. I'm tired of watching the ama work on tracks in between motos and turning them into freeways so that's another reason I really love the GPs. 10 years ago that was the total opposite. AMA tracks were so rough and I thought the GPs were too smooth. I remember watching southwick 10-15 years ago and it would be so rough you'd only see the riders heads in between whoops. Now it's like flat track racing in sand.

I agree that Marc Deruever fits in that inconsistent list. If every race was in sand he'd be a favorite for the title. For some reason if Marc doesn't get a start he seems (just my opinion) to give up. Just like when he rode southwick in 08. 1st moto he was on rails and got 3rd. 2nd moto he just quit. I've seen allot of that with him.

I also agree that Barragen will be tough as well as Stribos(if he can stay healthy and build). Also surprisingly Stephen Sword has looked awesome on the 450. I think making him move up with the new rules will be a good thing for him. he seemed to be losing steam on the 250.

Also didn't that new rule force Rui Gonsalves to move up? I haven't heard much about him in the off season but he should be tough too.

You're also right about the 250's.. Wow it should be an incredible fight this year. We'll of course know more after the 1st 2 rounds but yeah there's 10 guys that could step up and contend for the title this year.

Can you tell I'm pumped?? !!!!!

Goncalves had surgery on his shoulder and will be out for a while.

Strijbos maybe the best out of Ramon and Desalle when healthy, but he has been on such a rocky road lately I can't see him bounce back to be a winner really. Hopefully I'm wrong though.

Pourcel is extremely talented, and I find his riding style better than Christophes. If he can make a decent start to the season he and make good starts in the races he will be up there for sure.

I also think Charlier and Herlings will impress in MX2. That class is more open since Chris Pourcel, Cairoli, Searle, Rattray left. If you do well in the european championship you're not that far off the pace. Those two and Roczen certainly did. Charlier seems steady as well. Not to many dnf etc. He may end up top 4-8. This class will however be a war between Roczen/Musquin and Frossard(on hard pack)

I think Ramon will win races pretty soon and be a real threat this year. He stays in the same team and seems more agressive this year. The same goes for Nagl and Phillippaerts. I don't think changing team is good in the short run, which will punish Cairoli, De Dycker and some of the others

Spoken like a typical American hating Frenchmen..Just a statement w/no reasoning to back it up.. Probably spoken by a man who's never even seen the kid ride or race..lol I'm not saying the kids going to win but I'm for sure not going to say he has no chance.. Martin Honda wouldn't of spent the money to get him out there if they thought that.

I'm just realistic.

And I know what I'm talking about. Nothing to do with the rider's nationality.

I would say exactly the same thing about Aranda or Boissière, for example...

I agree with pretty much all of that, but if I had said I would get blasted so I will just agree with you lol I think that is where the magazines could have put more GP coverage alongside the AMA series to inform the US population about the World Championship... if you read a British mag they have British AMA and World championship coverage a US mag usually just has AMA coverage..

video of dark horse PC rider Van Horebeck here... the bikes and gear look good! Van Horebeck

Good call on Sword I was at Mallory and he really impressed me maybe quickest rider there over the 3 races.

Yea Goncalves is injured might miss first couple of rounds he would have been solid on that bike too.

Bobreyshev has been impressive so far too, Swanie should get quickers as well then you have Leok and Guaneri plus Arand, I think Jimmey will be 15-5th place lol and I still maintain top 10 in the series will be a great result at the end of the year.. staying healthy could be a big help too.

McCread--Great video of VanHorbeck... HD was the greatest invention.. Especially when it comes to MX. I love how you can see every grain of roost. That video reminded me of riding behind someone with the yellow tinted lenses in your goggles..
