Here's a couple little factoids...

Green cards are really pink, not green.

My ex (who was about as Caucasian as they come) was Canadian, and when she moved her and got her green card, she was about as excited as a kid at Christmas. She ripped open the envelope, and...there was a photo of an African-American woman on her card, but with all her info.

American immigration screwed up? Nah...

For a while that was her only form of ID here. We went into a restaurant, and she ordered a drink and got carded. I just snickered, and said, "Go ahead...show her."

The waitress thought it was so funny that she served her anyway. Smile

I've crossed the border here between Windsor and Detroit many times in my life and we all know that you never mess with customs. They can make your life miserable. Have your paperwork in order and answer their questions accurately because they know your record.

If you don't, prepare for the anal probe ...

Exactly, so why is this so hard for some people to understand? (other than the people that read the obviously flawed article)

From what I can gather is the paperwork was lacking due to his age when signing the contract ? Also the stuff about his parents losing their home due to the paperwork snafu, is that what is going on ?

hey, didnt write it, just pasted what they said, no clue what happened other than he couldnt come back.

HOWEVER..... we were going to Mexico, Cozumel. We get to Dallas, get to the ticket counter to check in. My friend pulls out his birth certificate (this was pre passport needed) and his drivers license. We left on May 1. his DL expired May 2002. So now its not valid. A US Imigration person WAS called over.... needless to say, he had to run back up to okla, get a new DL, and had to catch a flight 6 hours later.

now, you have a paperwork problem, your name gets put in a database. You are in canada trying to leave the country, your name comes up... I can see how its possible. NOT SAYING THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED but.... its not as far fetched as you think. Do I think thats what happened, no effing idea! Im just watching TV and pasted what was put up.

I am going to own up to something that I am not very proud of.

Years ago, when I was a youngster, and still out in the field working as a project superintendent, we had some African American friends that had a a three year old boy. When all the different tradesmen would bring out the photos of their kids to show everyone, I would bring out the photo of our friends three year old son, just to see the reaction on their faces when the were holding the photo.

It was hilarious. Lot's of tongue tied rednecks that didn't know what to say.

Apparently there was enough of an issue with the original story on MXP that it got pulled down off their site.

It also doesn't help Dean's cause to see it reposted here (and there are some pretty high-level efforts underway to try and get him back into the country), so if you guys can refrain from reposting it, I'd appreciate it.

Someone somewhere in the mad rush about this probably stated it was Canadian immigration and the error took on a telephone tag life if its own, compounded by it being around Toronto when more than a few US citizens coming to work that event have their own problems with Canadian immigration.

What was really funny is that people didn't want to piss me off, but they didn't know what to say so you could see the frustration in their eyes.

Right before I handed them the photo I would say, "he looks just like his mother".

not to derail the thread but...... and for the record I didnt vote for bush the first 2 times, and the ONLY reason I voted Obama this time was LITERALLY I will NOT vote for someone to become president who has someone so completely idiotic for their vice president....

BUT.... there is one thing that Obama is doing right imo. Bush took this country towards a path of isolationism, you are seeing this quite clearly right now with Dean.

A plane crashes, a bomb goes off anywhere else in the world, we tsk tsk. It happens here, and instead of joining the world, we close ourselves off.

It has been proven, time and time again, that when you do this, its the death knell for that country as a leader. Doubt all you want, its fact, do the reseach.

Obama immediately upon taking office reversed course on this, but it takes time to undo a mess.

personally, I welcome anyone to this country that wants to work, to provide for themselves, their family, and experience the American dream in a land where we all get up and goto our facet and have the safest water on the planet delivered to us, where we can pick up a phone, (the fact we even HAVE a phone!) and for virtually nothing have someone bring us more food than ALOT of people in this world have in a week, and to a place where our pour would be considered just about any other places low income! And the mexican, we dont have near as many illegals using "our tax paying dollars" as we have lazy worthless american citizens drawing welfare that are perfectly healthy and capable of working! And do NOT give me that tired bullshit of how mexicans are "taking our jobs". its called effing competition and it is what MADE this country great, not the latest wussy crap where everyone thinks they have a right to be rich, to be lazy, and think they should get $28.50 an hour plus benifits to put lug nuts on a car (true provable example, UAW, GM line worker).

Everyone throwing stones at mexicans, pardon my language, but go fuck yourself. I have been to non-tourist mexico, more than once. Unless you are a native American, you cant say shit to any other immigrant!

Work, contribute, welcome to the country imo. I truely believe in the statement on the statue of liberty.....

".....Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

and I didnt have to go look that up to recite that, and obviously, this is what welcomed alot of your ancestors to these lands, and you have forgotten where they came from and the sacrifice they made for you to be here!

/end of soapbox

Wow you write just like Tony aleesi. I take it you aren't for Obama's New America then right. Of topic. I know.Huh

There so many people in other countries waiting to get to the US legally, and I know. I travel globally, and I import from alot of countries. I have set up several factories in Tijuana, and I have a ton of Mexican American friends.

I am so tired of the losers running over the border illegally. Dont preach to me about being compassionate. I see the losers clogging the emergency rooms, hoarding the welfare system, and running all the drugs on a daily basis.

I Love Mexico, and I race Baja 3 times a year, but give me a break about these scum bag lying cheating losers that suck our economy. Dont give me the whole "they are hard worker s" crap either. The Chinese are 100 times better workers, and if you they work so hard, why is their country such a dump?

Expecting immigrants from every country to be treated equal is not racism, I am so tired of you people who think that mexico should get a free pass.
