Raped and mutilated.
Shows what a cesspool the AP has become.
Disgusting and feel bad for her parents that have to relieve this again.
Thats Effn sick. WTF is wrong with people? I expect the POS terrorists to act like animals, but then for us here in the "civilized" part of the world to claim something like that as picture of the year is incredibly disappointing. Its truly embarrassing what our society is evolving into. How insulting to all the other probably kick ass pictures that were entered in that contest to lose out to somebodys dumb ass and disgusting decision to make a political statement. Its like true talent takes a back seat to some peoples insatiable desire to make everything a virtue signaling, politically charged statement to intentionally piss off the other side. Fuck those assholes that use that poor womans pictures to needlessly take another small jab at the other side. Like I said before... thats just sick. If you want to see some real cool photography just go to our own picture of the day thread. There is some phenomenal, awe inspiring photography displayed on our little dirtbike forum that would technically and artisticly blow that picture away, I can only imagine what kind of talent was overlooked in that actual photo contest.
As if we needed any further proof that Israel needs to eradicate the plague of humanity....
Photo of the year in this instance , is judged from a journalism perspective only . It’s the newsworthy impact of an image that is being judged . Artistry or technical skill , etc , are not what is being judged .

Spin it any way you like....
If that lets you sleep at night.
What spin ?
It is an awful picture, but I agree that it is such an impactful picture that it makes sense why it was chosen. If reflects the barbarism and hopefully opened a few eyes to what's going on there.
Exactly . Good photojournalism is a mirror .
If the corpse was that of a soldier...but it is the corpse of a young concert goer that was raped, tortured and disfigured. Paraded around while the masses cheered and rejoiced.
The picture itself seemed very unremarkable.
Someones Baby Girl.
Someones sister...
Doesn't that picture tell you a great deal about the mindset and beliefs of the attackers and their supporters?
It does to me and that's why I can understand why it was chosen.
It wasn’t an attack on soldiers though , it was an attack on innocent civilians . That’s what the photo shows .
More than that ... it shows the pathetic state of humanity in the year 2024. I think a lot of us had envisioned we / the planet would be farther along than this. Between Putin's invasion and WW1 style war in Ukraine and stuff like this it seems like we have a long way to go still.
Remember folks, Adolf Hitler was Time Magazine's "Man of the Year" in 1938 or '39. (I can't remember which.)
This award is from the Associated press for the most important or impactful photo of the year. It doesn't mean you have to like the subject matter, the people in it, or even the photographer. This is the year that was in 2023. A complete, horrific shitshow, as illustrated quite painfully by the photo.
RIP, Shani Louk.
Hopefully the IDF has taken these mofo's in the "Picture of the Year" out and they met their maker. A nice Reaper drone strike would be nice...
