No joke I'm 20 years old and drove a rented 2009 brand new Suburban (10 miles on it) loaded with promotional "commercial" as they call it items. I crossed in Marine City/ Algonoac Michigan Ferry crossing to Canada. Remind you this suburban was LOADED there was room to sit in the front that is it. Customs did not ask me my name, ask for I.D., Passport, what was in the back, Nothing. Just rolled into Canada with who knows what as far as they knew. Blew my mind!

To my understanding I couldn't drive due to not being in the paper work, crossed an international boarder, and carried un taxed commercial goods. I guess they will let anyone into Canada, but out must be a differen't story.

I drove from St. Clair Mi to Boston Mass. Crossed the bridge into America threw Buffalo Ny with a pass on commercial goods but still no red flag on the vehicle.

Illegal is illegal.

It's definitely terrible news for him and his family, but really, props to US Customs for actually doing their job correctly. I think they need to relocate those Customs agents to the southern border of the US.

I'm confused. The story first says that Canadian Immigration turned him back and then goes on to blast U.S. Immigration ?

Of course, if he was short, olive-skinned, liked tacos and tortillas and could work concrete, everything would be cool.

Feel bad for the kid, not PC though. We have a great amateur program here in the US, Mitch. Consider it.
I can't believe my eyes on this post. The right wingers from the Non Moto section, bitching about the hard nose, conservative immigration policy set up here in the USA. Its a little different when the person isn't brown, right Rush followers?

"If you are just coming out of a coma, you may not know Dean Wilson was rejected by Canadian immigration and was not permitted to return to America and compete "

hmmm.... where you intending sarcasm with the DC comment? I hope not

This is obviously frustrating, but how is an illegal immigrant motorcycle racer any different than an illegal brick layer?
Ha ha

I like Dean also but reality is, that a great deal of the illegals are paying taxes just as you and I are. For some reason, all the flag waving, I am a proud American folks don't want to acknowledge that.

BTW: I hope Dean get's through all the red tape and makes it to this weekends event.

Don't act like Mexican immigrants don't get dealt with Whip. Spin, but be accurate when it happens.
If you want to bitch about American jobs going to Foreigners, here it is. Just cause he's white, don't make it right. We aren't speaking of a person working for $7 an hour either, it much more substantial than that.

Try going through with anything on your record, had a friend held up for hours over an almost 20 year old DUI when we went through. They are thorough when they get a red flag.

Yeah but my point was they never asked my name, for I.D., or passport. Just were are you going? Have a good day.

not to derail the thread but...... and for the record I didnt vote for bush the first 2 times, and the ONLY reason I voted Obama this time was LITERALLY I will NOT vote for someone to become president who has someone so completely idiotic for their vice president....

BUT.... there is one thing that Obama is doing right imo. Bush took this country towards a path of isolationism, you are seeing this quite clearly right now with Dean.

A plane crashes, a bomb goes off anywhere else in the world, we tsk tsk. It happens here, and instead of joining the world, we close ourselves off.

It has been proven, time and time again, that when you do this, its the death knell for that country as a leader. Doubt all you want, its fact, do the reseach.

Obama immediately upon taking office reversed course on this, but it takes time to undo a mess.

personally, I welcome anyone to this country that wants to work, to provide for themselves, their family, and experience the American dream in a land where we all get up and goto our facet and have the safest water on the planet delivered to us, where we can pick up a phone, (the fact we even HAVE a phone!) and for virtually nothing have someone bring us more food than ALOT of people in this world have in a week, and to a place where our pour would be considered just about any other places low income! And the mexican, we dont have near as many illegals using "our tax paying dollars" as we have lazy worthless american citizens drawing welfare that are perfectly healthy and capable of working! And do NOT give me that tired bullshit of how mexicans are "taking our jobs". its called effing competition and it is what MADE this country great, not the latest wussy crap where everyone thinks they have a right to be rich, to be lazy, and think they should get $28.50 an hour plus benifits to put lug nuts on a car (true provable example, UAW, GM line worker).

Everyone throwing stones at mexicans, pardon my language, but go fuck yourself. I have been to non-tourist mexico, more than once. Unless you are a native American, you cant say shit to any other immigrant!

Work, contribute, welcome to the country imo. I truely believe in the statement on the statue of liberty.....

".....Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

and I didnt have to go look that up to recite that, and obviously, this is what welcomed alot of your ancestors to these lands, and you have forgotten where they came from and the sacrifice they made for you to be here!

/end of soapbox

Hmm...story gone now?

For the tenth or twelfth time, it's a problem with U.S. immigration, not Canadian.

Why would Canadian immigration stop him? You don't even have to stop at Canadian immigration when leaving the country. They don't care who's leaving, only who's coming in.

Hmm...now you know why I run 404 as the number on my bikes...

I went to their homepage, and got an error. It wasn't a problem with the link from your post.

I specifically asked his agent last week where the problem was, and was told U.S.

When you're entering Canada, you go through Canadian immigration. Leaving? It's U.S.

Do you really believe these immigration policies started with this administration (or are you just practicing revisionist history)?
3/25/2010 7:26pm
got me terry, but someone writes an article that long, laying out what could happen to Dean, his parents, Mitch, his agent, the government..... they appear to have done some amount of research. not saying thorough....... I do know that when leaving america to go out of the country, you dont hit immigration, but the airline has to check the validity of your documents or you cant get on the plane. They notify Can Im and then here it goes? got me, wasnt there, Im sure we will find out though eventually.

One of the MXP guy's is related to Dean so I'd say he has pretty good info.

I know it sucks but Imigration is a problem and I don't see it any different for Dean then a guy mowing my yard.
