Another "what if" championship. That sucks for him that both his Championships come from the top guy getting hurt but thats the way it goes. If he is there at the end with the #1 then props to him for not getting hurt and being consistant.

Lucky? Prepared? Face it, if the "top guy" can't keep it on two wheels for the season then how can he be the top guy? He may be the fastest most of the time, but then again so was Bradshaw. In no way am I Reed's biggest fan, but here's to him for showing up prepared to kick some SX ass. If he'd show up for the outdoors and not piss and moan anymore ...... :D

Let's see....hmmmmm, how about "what if" there were more than two fast guys racing for a championship? What if anyone else would step and challenge Reed. What if anyone else trained like Reed and Stewart. If Reed wins it, it's because he won it. If someone else wins it I'll be happy. With Stewart out it's shaping up to be a snoozer of a season. Bummer. Thank God we have the 125cc class, they should run it after the big bike class since that seems to be where the real racing is at!!

Might as well say that since RC isnt racing anymore he is the GOAT. How can he be the greatest if he doesnt even race? Im not baggin on Reed at all thats why I said props to him if he is there at the end with the #1. But either way everyone know Stewarts the top guy going into any season or race he enters regardless if he crashes out or not. Oh and by the way Im not saying RC isnt the GOAT because he is! I just used it as an example.

Say what you want.

You've got to be in it to win it.

It's not always the fastest who wins. RC beat Stewart the same way for a couple of years. Not the fastest on any given day, just the fastest and most consistent guy on the track. Nobody bagged on RC for winning that way. Nobody questioned RC when he lost the US championship to JS the last time they raced a full season of SX against each other either.

I'm no huge fan of Reed's but you have to give credit where it's due. Right now and for 50% of the season where Stewart was in it Reed has been the fastest guy. Unless somebody steps up and runs with him he is now the man to beat.

I am sure Reed will have "what if " on his mind when he is cashing that check
Lots of racing left to go and plenty can happen. Reed no doubt has everyone covered at the moment, But you might want to let it play out a little and see what happens before you give him shit about "what if "

Best quote on this comes from Reed himself in the RX 5 minutes with interview.

"That bonus check, if and when it comes in, ain’t going to have no asterisk next to it, so I’ll cash those things in and have fun."

Bottom line all the "asterisk police" will be typing away uselessly while Chad is living it up with superhot Ellie and a big bag of cash.

A) when has RC ever lost a u.s. championship to bubba?

Cool when has reed been the fastest guy? A1? YEAH RIGHT...reed may have won but anyone who watched saw who the fastest guy was, and then it was backed up in phoenix.

i give reedy all the credit in the world for the effort he puts in, but he has nothin' for bubba. bubba can ride at 90% and walk all over reed. my point being, its not a case where RC forced bubba into mistakes because they were so close in speed.

again i do give reed all the credit in the world. he gave RC a legit run in '03 that catapulted him to the strictest standards of being put in the same league as bubba and RC. kinda like when dv12 gave mc a run and then in the subsequent years took a lotta crap because he couldnt live up to the standards put on him after his two best seasons.

unfortunately RC was hurt come '04 so reed never got an immediate rematch.

again in '06 he puts in a hell of a season and finished a very honorable 3rd in the best sx season ever (imo).

and now in '08 bubba bows out and its like '04 all over again.

maybe if hes still riding at this same level come '09 or '10 there wont be any room for asterix's cause the field is gonna be deeper with the addition of townley, rv, a more developed 800, dungey?, hill (who i think can get to that elite level), possibly jlaw if he moves up next year, and tedesco if he can get his drive back.

maybe its wrong but its a weird phenomenon in racing where racers are only compared to there closest peers and currently because there is nobody in the 450 class that has shown that they are in that elite level with bubba and reed, its held against him now that bubba is out.

Hopefully someone can step up to Reed's speed. The mud this weekend could be the great equalizer.

Problem is, regardless of how great and fast Stewart is, I'm not so sure he can ride at 90% without knocking himself out of the series. We may never know. He popped his knee all by himself with near zero competition last year after RC left. That was Stewarts championship , he had it in the bag. He could have backed it down to 80% and still had it whipped. 90 % my ass.....shit happens and a lot of it seems to happen to Stewart. What was it RC used to say? "You make your own luck".

Yeah james is pretty fast....at quiting seasons!

Reed came in ready to fight and to say he has nothing for james (like some short sighted people on here say) obviusly didn't see that last two races they were in.

Fact is Reed was ready to go and james knew he couldn't match him for the season with a sore knee, even though he claimed to be in the best condition of his life....but that's another story....

I sure don't see any asterisk to this season. Reed's obviously showed signs of stepping up his game. He solidly beat Stew in the first race, and he stuck right with him in the second. With Stewart's unfortunate ability to make not-so-smart moves (sometimes putting him on the ground), I think we may've been in for a great season.
1/26/2008 1:31pm
Americans are not kind to foreigners with that being said reed is not liked but many sx/mx fans. That reality is reed is as fast as stewart right now being that stewart is riding 80 %, so best thing is for him to bow out the championship. If reed wasnt in the series stewart would still beat the rest of the american riders right now.

BINGO.

And as far as luck, Bubba's chances of actually finishing a series are what ... 3 in 10? You call that luck?

And was it not in 2003 when Reed beat RC [u:2x11i0uc]SIX TIMES IN A ROW[/u:2x11i0uc]. It's clear some of you rocket scientists have a personal dislike for Reed and that's your issue, but you only make yourselves look stupid trying to claim asterisks for ANYONE. If you can't roll up to the starting line, your speed is useless and counts for SQUAT.

Did you all get that? Speed = ZERO if you can't stay off the ground. Write it down as a bunch of you can't seem to comprehend it yet.
