Pal of mine was running 6th overall at the National Hare & Hound yesterday...then his Kawi decided to grenade on him with 10 miles to go.
Huffy hands down. That sum bitch would creek and squeak from the moment it came off that Walmart showroom. If you hit a bump the bars would be in your lap.
Thought it was a kawi but I never had any issues with them this summer
That’s f…….king funny! Beer almost came out my nose!

Someone needs to post the sales numbers of each bike as well, the more sold could have more my bike broke stories, but overall be a lower percentage. I think I've read the YZ250F is the best selling competition model, and Honda probably sells a crap ton of 450's. KTM sells a bunch, but I bet there's a couple of crf450's sitting in garages for every KTM woods bike sold. ML, do you get information on sales numbers?
With my 2023 Honda CRF450RWE, immediately when I started going through the bike and thread locking some of the crucial bolts, I was amazed at the quality of the bolts and the fit and finish is amazing. Compared to my 2022 KTM350XCF, while it's a really nice bike, it just seems as if the quality of the compenents isn't on par with that Honda. Had a friend that bought a Yamaha after having Honda's and he commented how the Bolts seemed to be softer grade than what was on his Honda.
Australia's annual sales figures used to be reported, but the manufacturers changed to only reporting bikes that are road registered, not ridden exclusively off road.
The YZ250F and YZ450F were leading...
At this point my Beta is taking the cake for me as far as lack of reliability is concerned.
Initially it had an idle/engine light issue. Beta replaced the all the electronics and sensors, throttle body, stepper, everything. Still wasn't fixed. Next they had the dealer remove the head only to find that it has burnt/damaged valves, valve seats, and guides. 100% a factory issue and nothing to do with maintenance as I am beyond meticulous.
Now the shitty part, rather than just replace the engine with a crate unit they want the dealer to replace with a new head/valve train, and piston rings, but not a new piston. I demanded a new crate motor but they seem resistant, so we will see where this goes, but it is not a good look for Beta and I am not sure I will keep it or ever buy another Beta product again.
2023 500RRS, less than 40 hours, with a good chunk of that time idling (when it wasn't shutting off) just waiting for the stepper motor to adjust so it would run right, not knowing the valves and guides were already gone. Also, there is noticeable blow by into the crankcase when doing a leak down test to the point you can see the oil bubbling.
If it ran lean enough to burn valves and seats I would want a new piston at least. Sounds like it is not running in tune like it should or the ecu calibration is garbage.
So I went to the shop and looked at the head and valves and it is actually a known issue with the valve guides allowing a tiny bit of valve movement which then keeps the valve from seating properly, creating an uneven burn and causing the high/hanging idle i've been having.
At least Beta is standing by their product and giving me an entirely new top end, and I 100% trust the shop doing the work. Bad part is the valves are on back order.
