I know he’s a top dog in the Canadian championship, and on the “factory ktm team” in Canada . My question is how will he do in futures? It is my understanding that aeo ktm has full factory ktm motors, hawkins has looked OK. But how Derek Kelly even has a ride is beyond me . Thoughts????
Coming back from a few injuries lacking seat time. Guys that he leaves in the dust up here (literally laps) have been around 8-12 coming from the back in futures. So if his wrist is all good, he should be top 3.
Outdoors is where you'll want to watch him. He could be a top 10 threat all year.
I doubt McNabb has anything for a healthy Derek Kelley. Canadian Lites class...?
McNabb rips seen him in Kamloops his raw speed and consistency is super good. He did really well in the moto combine last year. I figure top 5 when he does futures and top 12 outdoors. Once he gets used to riding in the states and does some racing with the team he will be pushing more towards the front

I believe he won’t be far off from Hawkins and Kelly . If Kelly is even healthy anough to ride
I think he will do better than them in all honesty, he has great race IQ. His only flaw I think would be his starts. If he has those better he will do good
It'll be nice to have a Canadian to root for in Futures.
If you know the story from the kid, you know he will work his ass of too succeed.

Harrison went 12-11 for 11th overall at RedBud last summer, but ran in the top 10.
Different type of tracks, environment, etc., but since Harrison is the best comparison, and just to give an idea of McNabb, here's a look at the 2023 season up here.
Harrison: 25 years old at the time.
McNabb: 17 years old at the time.
Kamloops Moto 1: Won by 23 seconds over Benoit, and 34 seconds over Harrison.
Moto 2: Won by 10 seconds over Natzke, and 22 seconds over Harrison.
Calgary Moto 1: Won by 6 seconds over Benoit, and 10 seconds over Harrison.
Moto 2: Harrison won by 5 seconds over McNabb.
Gopher Dunes Moto 1: Natzke won by 11 seconds over McNabb.
Moto 2: Benoit won by 10 seconds over McNabb.
Sand Del Lee Moto 1: Won by 22 seconds over Natzke, 28 over Benoit, 35 over Harrison.
Moto 2: Harrison won by 0.867 over McNabb and 44 over Natzke in 3rd.
Riverglade Moto 1: Natzke won by 2 seconds over McNabb, 4 over Harrison.

I didn't include Round 1 because Harrison went DNS-DNS with mechanicals.
In SX or Outdoors?
In SX, maybe. Outdoors, Kelley wouldn't win the title up here, so it's a safe assumption to say Ryder will get better outdoor results. Besides, Kelley is racing a 450 this summer.
Not to mention Kelley is also 25 years old with 5 years of Pro SX experience. McNabb turned 18 last September and has no SX experience.
I,ve been watching the Canadian Nationals . The winners Really mix it up. The tracks r Awesome. Some am classes race the same day including premix -125 class. Who is this Sam kid he races 3 motos in the 125 class & 250 pro am & got some 6th ,s in motos.
He was very fast and smooth at Gopher Dunes when I saw him riding last August. He was even riding a vintage 1980 Can-Am 125 MX-6 and was very fast on that. That is him on my profile picture on that Can-Am last August.

Oh Wow that’s cool. I was shocked to see a 125 get 6th in pro motos. I only found 1 125 pre mix vid. I did a double check on the yr . The kids r soo Fast. I thought it could,ve been a 125 pro race from 04. With a lot of big American names. I checked the rules for the am national & pro. deschambault impounds the top 5 bikes I think. Not sure about the other rounds. So I wouldn’t hv to worry about running vp c12. Back in 12th to 18th decent points there still. Not that many riders do the 4 east rounds. So a top 5 in points is possible . My last name is French Canadian so they’ll be Le CooL. Lol
Sam was faster than Jimm D @ San del Lee. And Jimmy was on a 250f. The Quebec rnd the Jimmy yt vid that everyone went nuts ovr. He’s just a bit off in the early laps but faster in the later laps. But he did race 125 & 250 pro. I hope he gets a chance to race the 125 emx.

Sam races a 250F in the MX2 class. Pulling double duty is cool though. He’s also 25 years old.
He's got two championships.
2022 & 2023 250 Canadian National Champion.
Another impressive fact is that he was a title contender in 2021 as a 15 year old. He finished 3rd in the series and lost the title by 5 points. He won two rounds in 2021.
He finished 6th in the series in 2020.
Mcnabb is legit. He’ll do pretty well here. Looking forward to seeing him in futures.
Ya and our Premix class runs first in the day (other than WMX) and then right after track work between motos. So lap times don’t matter. When Bles raced he was almost always faster than the MX2 class but purely do to track conditions.
Sam is a great 450 rider and was a solid top 7-10 guy on SSR a couple years ago. He was never as good on the 250F but was still great. He did race the 125 in the MX2 class at Gopher 2 years ago and was around 15th.
How long is his Aeo contract for?
Two years, so 2024 and 2025.
I’m happy to hear that. Love seeing a fellow Canadian get some exposure. Hoping someone can do similar to how Lange did atleast in the supercross part of it

Supercross is a different story but this is Hangtown 2022 (Rd 2)
Derek was in the top 10 most of the west coast supercross season last year. Got hurt pretty bad at Salt Lake City. Will mcnabb be racing futures in stl?
He's supposed to line up for St-Louis.

Why does another country’s 3 time #1 Pro racer that races for 2 factory teams have to start over and race in the futures class?
