DF going to Factory Husky next year as a replacement of Craig.
The info is from M.Musquin who seems to say it IS a done deal.
They spoke about it during the DV podcast as Marv is in Florida with Tom Vialle right now and has close information with the KTM Group
On the one hand, if he’s getting paid well, awesome! On the other hand, no one seems to be gelling with the Austrian bikes, so I see a bad future ahead for DF…..results wise
Not looking good on the YZF? Get on a CRF.
Not looking good on the CRF? Get on a Husky.
Not looking good on a Husky? GTFO?
Good news for DF in the sense that a factory team is picking him up. ...but as mentioned, KTVARNAGAS isn't doing so hot in the 450 class.
I believe Sexton and Plessinger are on the new frames in 450, and look pretty good.
Mookie, Craig and Barcia are on the old frames and not looking so good. I do recall they didn't get the new frames as early as the KTM riders, and had to choose one and stick with it. I may be misremembering that though.

That's a big move for Dylan Ferrandis, stepping into Craig's shoes. I mean, Craig's been a solid rider, but change can be refreshing. And Marv being tight with the KTM crew definitely adds weight to the rumor. Plus, being in the mix with Tom Vialle in Florida probably means he's got the inside scoop.
seems like the perfect fit for him. I just wonder if the general cool-guy "rockstar" attitude of the team is going to turn him into a craig/mookie.
He looked fine on the yzf and crf. Solid top 5 results / speed heck even took an outdoor championship. Not every rider on a 20 man gate will win. there's just no pleasing some people
hmmm... KTM has had the red plate on two different riders bikes this year. odd someone would think that the bike is somehow not competitive. Last weekend they were on the podium and had four bikes in the top ten (more than any other manufacturer. how does someone come to the conclusion that the bikes are not competitive? what am i missing?
-He was off to his best 450 SX season on the Yamaha last year until he was knocked out.
-He feels great on the Honda, but it's not a factory team.
I meant relative to his championship year and the switch to the redesigned YZF, not his tenure on previous platform YZF.
I can't remember seeing him at the front much at all, much less consistently, since then.
He apparently wasn't happy with the new gen YZF so he went to a less-than-factory-team to get on the CRF and he hasn't exactly set the world on fire during his time on it. If he makes the switch to Husky, time will tell if that makes a difference in his results.
So, if he was happy on the YZF, why the desire to make a change? My understanding was he was voicing his displeasure with the new platform and wanted to make the move.
My take is based on the fact that KTM took arguably the best bike on the track (Coop’s last title), messed with it, went backwards results-wise, and haven’t been on top since. Yamaha did the exact same thing, after DF dominated the outdoors, they changed the bike and he was never the same on it. Craig and Mookie have never reached their previous levels on the Husky, so that is also factoring into my thoughts. I’m hoping DF goes into outdoors healthy as I want to see what he can do on the Honda outdoors!
While on the Yamaha:
Championships:
•2019 AMA Supercross 250cc West
•2020 AMA Supercross 250cc West
•2020 AMA 250cc Motocross
•2021 AMA 450cc Motocross
While on the Phoenix Honda:
5 6 6 9 7 6 22 8 22
Very respectable
Read above for further elaboration.
I was about to say, I think the transition to husky would be a success if he can match his 2024 SX results next year. Not lighting the world on fire but very respectable. You can tell that he's giving an effort and taking some risks out there. The same can't be said about current Husky riders.
DF14 and Mookie sounds like a nice team. RJ then gets a shot in 26 on the 450 im assuming.
Was gonna say the same thing, many top riders don't have his results, and have better rides.
Was expecting more from DF after his amazing 250 career but it shows that SX on a 450 is just a different beast.
Pit Row
How old would RJ be by the time he gets on the 450 full time, 30? I know Malcoms contract is through 2025, but another year in the 250 class feels so wasted for RJ.. Maybe he should already ride outdoors 450 this year, we all know Malcom doesn't want to ride outdoors anyways, right?
He turned 28 in January
There is two things though with Dylan and Supercross, either he was never really 100% coming into the season or he got injured during the early rounds.. and when healthy with decent starts, he always showed podium or at least top 5 speed.
And that's the other thing.. decent starts, he just doesn't get them at all. This worked on the 250 because he was by far the fastest guy and he could always work his way up and pass the other guys, but at least in his 450 career he was usually one of if not the worst starter out of the top 10.
Outdoors though, different animal.. One of the only guys to give beast mode Tomac a run for his money. Hope we see some good battles with him, Jett and Chase this summer.
He did voice his displeasure with the newer yamahauler but in addition might of gotten tired of the Star atmosphere in general.
I think you're selling him short on his Phoenix results. "Bro ain't you heard the field is stacked" ...boy I feel funny talking like that. But he's not complained about the bike to my knowledge. I know they switched from Maxxis to Bridgestone but that's it.
Agreed.
"I aLwAYz wANtEd tO riDe A hOnDuh" haha fuckin clown
What previous level are you speaking of with Craig? It's not like either of them are young and Mookie takes the summer off. They're finishing where they should
I'm assuming he's referring to his 2022 AMA Supercross 250cc West championship ride albeit on a Yamaha. Which showed he can get it done at least on a 250. 450 is the deep end of the pool. He's been so banged up since going to Husky I couldn't definitely say it's the bikes fault. Mookie after his long layoff, is finally coming around.
From Pirelli to Dunlop.
There's no one in the Supercross pits using Bridgestone.
The deep end of the pool is exactly right. Beating up on the kids in the regional 250 class means zilch once your racing the big dogs
True that
I'm working on the assumption he'd leave the Honda team based on this report.
If he's 100% happy and doesn't think it would be an improvement, then why make the change if it's results you're chasing? (unless he's been told they won't have a ridefor him next year, for whatever the reason). You usually hear of competitive people making changes to make improvements in their results (but sometimes it's to improve the bank balance and performance takes a back seat to the dollars).
Obviously I don't know, just speculating as to why another change so suddenly if everything is good.
