My girlfriend (now wife) and I drove a zillion miles to Indy to watch the SX. We walked straight into the pits like we knew what we were doing and snapped these pics. Almost 30 years ago!

Great pics! I went to that race in 95 as well. Have to dig out some of my pics.
Blasst from the past..... Thanks for sharing...
Great to see these and it mirrors my experiences from the '80s and '90s - thanks for sharing.
Skip Norfolk was the best. Every time I'd show up at a national or SX I'd search out the Honda truck. At one point I was just watching him do his thing and he looked up and engaged me in conversation. We chatted for a while, I asked some technical questions, had some small talk and he invited me into the area where they were working. I was always respectful, stayed out of the way and knew when to move back. After that, every time I'd show up he'd greet me like I was a good friend, invite me to visit and we'd chat away.
Great memories, great guy.
But it was a different era. Back then you could get right next to the track (heck, cross it during a moto) and rub shoulders with the guys (even got to chat with Everts, Albertyn and others at Budds Creek).
Today it's much more NASCARized - everything roped off, pay to access anything and riders monetizing anything and everything . MC was The King when Skip was giving me "behind the scenes access". I can't imagine sitting in the back of the Honda truck watching MC's mechanic wrench on his bike nowadays... or what they'd charge for that if you could.
Awesome. I did the same in 96 but with video and went around and interviewed guys.
How good!!! Great photos!!
Mitch's trailer door looks funny with only four #1 plates on it compared to today. I think he's at 31 today!
Pit Row
Great pics!
Thanks for sharing.
Great photos! The 111 Suzuki is rad!
Mike and Mike together in the same truck after the previous summer!
Super rad pics!!! Two things caught my eye.
1. Its amazing how unprofessional the pits looked when compared to today. These pics look even less professional than many weekend warrior pits now days.
2. Stacy Henry is always smiling. I don't think I've ever seen a picture or video where she isn't.
