Supercross in Canada why even bother ?

I have said this before...the canada round will die soon. The hassle, the extra long travel from florida to toronto amongst other things make it harder on teams and really tough on the traveling privateer. That round could be scheduled a little better and that may make it more appealing but as it is now the canada round is not worth the time or the money for the teams and should be dropped. Add another US round and call it good or fix the schedule so it better suites the teams and the people that have to make the drive up.

If every round was in the US it wouldn't be " World Supercross " ....
I know you claim that for baseball,
but then the FIM wouldn't have their finger in the pie without a CDN. round ...

the round was broadcast live on SPEED, theres little more to it then simply fiillling the seats, before Feld decides to pull the round...

oh yea, attendance in TO keeps going up each year...

The Vancouver one they used to have was appalling for attendance. Despite Toronto's future success or failure, its a good thing they scrapped Vancouver.

That's because the best in the world come here for MX, SX, baseball, basketball, football, HOCKEY (didn't Canada used to claim that sport),etc...

As far as I know, they don't need a work visa because they are working for American teams.

No they don't have to pay Canadian taxes if they are being paid by an American company. If they were getting paid by a Canadian company, there would be no taxes. Prizes are not taxed in Canada. If you win 10 million in a lottery, you GET 10 million.

I'm not making an excuse because I didn't make the riders stay away. Seriously. If all the injured riders showed up, there would be a pretty much full program. Sure, others were missing because of the cost, but for the most part if all the real players showed not too many gates would be empty.

Good info on how Canada works.

I still don't buy the injured riders dealio. If that is the case, Dallas shouldn't have a full program either.

I have been to 3 of the last 4 events in Toronto.

This year's racing was quite good the track (i.e. rocks) not withstanding.

A good crowd, too on a very rainy and windy Saturday.

Plus, "Spring Break" kicked in this week in the Toronto area and that took a lot of people out of town. Ask anybody who was at the airport on Sunday!

Full disclosure: I raise funds for a charity and Toronto is one of our stops, so I have a vested interest in having a good race in Toronto.

FYI, it is a cool city in a cool country. Check out Friday's Wall Street Journal to see how other sports have embraced Toronto.

Last time I checked Canada Owned Hockey (Olympics)

Where do you americans want YOUR series to go for the world round(s)? Do you have a better suggestion? Tijuana? Spain? Can they do better than last weekend? Cuba, sorry you're not welcome there.

Canada may suck, but in a very american way, shouldn't seem that foreign....

I had a very interesting discussion with flarider at Daytona.....he mentioned that there were Monster truck races on the other weekends at Anaheim and that is why there are 3 rounds there.....the dirt stays in the stadium and gets reworked for each event with the same promoter.


Just curious.....was there a Monster truck event in the same stadium in Canada before or after?

I just watched the race on TV for the first time. It looked far more lame on TV than being there. The atmosphere in the stadium felt the same as any of the US rounds I've been to(other than when the 450 heats line up).

Why not put 1 in RFK stadium or in the current stadium after all The Skins aren't using either 1. Why not have 22 riders on the gate in both classes every week.

US 308 Million people, Canada 34 Million. Based on capita Canada doubles teams.
And more than 50% of NHL's are Canadian, so who's filling the US roster? I don't play or care about hockey. I just find the argument funny. People taking credit (or attempting) simply because of their nationality rather than their experiences. Hell, I doubt I can even skate.
And yes, at the moment I have too much time on my hands and wikipedia'd the stats. It killed a minute or two.
