How can any of you be mad at Deegan? The crash was completely Hammaker's fault. He's the one who had zero room and tried to get around Bennick's handlebar at the last second running into Deegan. Same exact thing he did at Detroit to Vialle and caused one of the worst first turn pileups in SX history. Watch the video again. Everyone is going the same speed entering the first turn, then here comes Hammaker, not even paying attention going way faster than he should, smokes into Deegan.

Others have already said it, but are you surprised that a Yamaha spokesperson would have that take? You do not have to be a professional racer to see who was at fault for that crash. You simply need an open mind and basic common sense. I watched that clip quite a few times trying to understand how anyone could blame Hammaker for that. Deegan caused the whole thing. The only way anyone could blame Hammaker is if they are emotionally invested in Deegan not being at fault.

After watching at this angle, you can see 2 things. 1) Deegan was just under a full bike length when he cut down.  2) It wasn't abrupt.  3) Hammaker was bumped from his left into Deegan. 4) Hammaker should've backed it down a bit.

With almost a full bike length lead, EVERY pro would've cut down in the same manner.

Explain to me how was this Deegan's fault.

If Deegan throws my bike down like that......

Don't pinch me. I don't want be woken from that dream, because it's the only way I'm getting into a professional supercross race.

I think RV is a pretty solid dude and a straight shooter and just telling people how he saw it…. From a 4 x SX champs perspective. Racing incident, and 2 guys came together down the start, deegan pulled left and Seth swerved right…. No biggie.

I’m yet to see an angle where he has a full bike length when he cuts over, so happy to see it if you can provide it.

Those "A-kit vets" aren't being paid to represent the manufacturer that provides their equipment.  Getting into it at an REM race and throwing a tantrum on a hot SX track are two entirely different things.

OK, after watching the replay 1,000 times I now have changed my mind. It does look like Deegan was ahead by at least a bike length and moved over in a straight line from basically all the way back to the gate. Hammaker was the one who wasn't 100% in control and got squirrely. It doesn't excuse Deegan's bitch-like antics, but he's off the hook for the crash.

Just win baby!

All these things is what makes Haiden, Haiden.
Problem is, he’s not winning. 😉

It's in that video at around 0:04.

He's approximately a bike length ahead.  I know of no rider that would not have cut down with this much of a lead.

You'll also see that Hammaker and the rider to the right of him in the photo tangle.  That's where the problem started.  After that, Hammaker bolts forward, Deegan brakes into the corner, that lead disappears, and chaos ensues.image-20240313205706-1
