I love Gavin as a person. Good dude and still says hello when I see him. With that said I was a bit on the shocked side when star gave him the opportunity. He is fast but I just don’t see any way his speed translates well. Sure he will make Mains and have good races but that’s not good enough for star.
I would bet his time is coming to an end or has ended
The 250 side of Star seems like a really weird spot right now.
I hope Towers moves on with his head held high and goes and earns a spot somewhere else.
Agreed, I wonder where everyone else goes once the team downsizes if the rumors are true, they will probably be out of the sport or on lower level teams because all of the factory spots are filled. I do not like how futures is presented as amateurs learning the format and everything like that when its invite only and really makes or breaks your opportunity with a factory ride.

Star posted on IG about him at Freestone just 8 hours ago, suspension seems to be from Star...but bike graphics are NSA...
NSA runs moose, he's still in Thor.
Might be as simple as Star only helping him fully for Futures and any other events during that time he's partially on his own?
Any inside info on what these down sizing rumors are about?
You happen to catch Brauer and Phillips podcast from last week? They had the same opinion. While it's great the amateurs get their feet wet on real sx tracks, the stakes are so high. These kids feel like if they don't kill it they're going to lose their rides before they even go pro
Yes, thats kind of why I mentioned it and I fully believe it shouldn't be invite only, it shouldn't be just for the factory amateur kids that have full access to the test tracks. With the current system, if you don't know someone, your kind of hung out to dry if your not on a team. Its not like that in the pro's nor should it be in amatuers/futures.
All I have heard is that star is getting bought out, Not sure by who. I just don't understand how all of a sudden they are downsizing when they added a guy to the 450 squad, and then most of the guys if they do downsize, won't have factory rides.
I mean barely any of them have actual rides with pro teams. How are you gonna lose your ride if you don’t have one? If you are scared you’re gonna blow it before you go pro well then don’t show up? Aden Keefer opted not to race cause he’s not ready, not enough time to prep sx. Decent move. When he’s ready I’m sure he’ll be there barkin.
Then sure let’s say you are on a team then yeah you better be able to show up & put out in futures if you want to be able to run with the big dawgs: rj, kitchen, mcadoo, vialle.
Who is on a team racing futures anyway?GT$ is on a “tryout.” Wouldn’t call that on the team. Maybe fineis with club is about all I can think of. But all the other kids get a good opportunity to learn a little & race sx. Seems fine to me if you wanna warm up & race futures then go pro. Or you can just go race other races (mini os, az open, etc) earn sx license then show up at A1 & let it bark against the big dawgs.
Agreed
Bobby Regan selling the team?
I don't know.
STAR is owned by Bobby Regan, who is a big Auto dealer , and right now, that is on its arse, and only going to get worse.
My guess is he is getting out while it still has value, but aside of Webb Tomac and Deegan, all the rest arent at a level that justifies such huge investment.
Seems like Star offers a lot of support rides, kind of like tryouts to make the varsity team. In which case it would not be unusual to see several of the up and comers go a different way.
Regarding the purchase, I'm speculating that Deegan may want to purchase (or become majority owner). Makes sense from a business standpoint to control your own destiny.
The only reason Amateur All Stars exists is because the AMA destroyed the 250 class. Make the 250s the feeder class again and get rid of old guys in 250.
Has this been discussed here yet? That’s juicy.
I know this is a Towers thread, but what happened to Enzo Lopes? I remember the news that he would miss round 1 of East Coast, but it feels like he has completely disappeared from the fold.
He had arm pump surgery in the off season but it's taking him much longer than the standard recovery time to recover
