Racer X reports only 23 450 racers showed up to Toronto

Edited Date/Time 1/26/2012 11:13am
Looks like 17 racers could of made their 1st night show if they just showed up. Maybe more riders are on probation and can't leave the country then we thought?

I am not surprised. There are only 6 40 plus riders at Whitney.

That is downright pathetic. Someone pull Rollerball & JSR out of the bleachers and give them bikes.

The funny part is that there will be only 5 riders on the gate for the 450 LCQ!

Why would they change the rules for 1 race? Then again it is the AMA and the rulebook gets interpreted however they please with no consistency.

I say put the 5 who don't transfer out of the heats (as is the rule) in the LCQ ans let them have a 5 way slam fest for the transfer spots.

Exactly. Deviating from the norm screws up the whole system.

I think it has a lot to do w/speed channel on this call. W/the live races on tv they haven't been showing the LCQs anyways. I guess the heats will strictly be for gate pick in the main.. ..

If they let the TV producers rewrite the rules that is eff'd up.

They showed the LCQ's from Indy and ATL, but not at Daytona (nothing is normal at Daytona being a non Feld event)

i believe it is just too far of a drive for the privateer guys to make. Not many of them make their homes in the upper northeast I can't believe.

Heats are important for gate pick and riders bonuses, bragging right and the show.

Kind of weird seeing only 14 racers out in the A qualifying practice.

Are they letting everyone in to the main to reward the privateers who actually made the trip north of the border? Hopefully they still pay the guys in 21st-23rd spot the last place money for there troubles.

I have got to think the schedule hurts this race. They go from Daytona to Toronto (1300 miles), Toronto to Dallas (1500 miles) and Dallas to Jacksonville (1000 miles) in a 3 week span. That is a lot of road tripping for the privateers who fill out the field.

Is it safe putting guys running 13-14 seconds off the pace directly in the main.. RV2 running 57 seconds and A Martin is running 1:11.6..

Not a good idea IMO. How many times will he get lapped in the main?

Just think if Mike Heingartner on the RM 250 showed up to Toronto he would be in the main and be the hero of 2-stroke fans worldwide.

Adam is a good guy and won't be in anyones way. relax.

yep it is the 4 strokes fault don't ever forget it.

funny thing is that those dinosaurs are what is most widely used the longest. Way more of those "turrible" smokers at the riding parks then old race 4 strokes.....guess they are hard to maintain or something.....no matter I won't ever own one.

30 riders at the gate in a GP suddenly doesn't look so bad ! ;-)

just ask yourself,

does the sport have financial problems in the States too ?

why don't all the Canucks ride Toronto ?

is the AMA scene quite so bright as they like to pretend ?

only asking, not starting an argument.

Adam is a real cool guy I have talked to him many times, and my kid has raced him a bunch of times.

And my son ( 2 stroke fat guy as you call him) would not be in the way his bike is fixed now, and he can actually do what he needs to do now, so look for him to prove himself sometime soon.

My apologies on the choice of words earlier. I could not remember the name and unfortunately that was the description that came to mind.

Note to self: think before you type!

I am not out to run down any dude who has the guts to go out and race SX.

Is it a wonder why they have 3 races in Anahiem?
