Hello, I searched around but didn't find what I was looking for. Does anyone here know if the front fender and number plate from a YZF 250 or 450 will mount to the YZ250? I am not sure if they use the same mounting configurations
I've seen it done a few times, probably just redrill a hole here and there for the front fender and use a Cycra stadium plate so you can zip tie it to the forks and you're set.
I was thinking about the stadium plate, but I also really like the oem front number plate on the 4 stroke models. Just trying to keep it simple, if I can.
Yes it fits just fine.
It will bolt right up. You'll need both the fender and plate, though

Yes. What you have pictured is my exact same experience on my 2024 YZ250. Many people say it bolts right up, and it does, but it is far from being correctly positioned.
I trimmed the plastic mounting tab and made a bracket to allow the number plate to fit correctly. Ran it like that for a few hours and went back to the stock plate and fender. I think the stock two stroke plate and fender looks better.
The fender and number plate bolt patterns are identical for the 125, 250, 250f, and 450f. But the head tube length is shorter on the 125 and longer on the 250 than on the four strokes. It's only 5 mm longer, but that's what is creating the gap on the 250.
I drilled out the plastic tab mount on the four stroke number plate to sit down around the raised part of the triple clamp that the two-stroke number plate bolts. Then just use the larger washer and the same bolt to mount.
That dropped it down a few millimeters and made the gap much less noticeable.
Will try to get a close-up photo of the front number plate specifically, but it fits much better.
And yes, Billy, one of these days Luxon purple triple clamps, just not in this batch!
Mine came out not too bad. No cutting, modifying, nothing. I just flipped the front 2washers on the fender underneath and flipped the washer on the plate up top. Also, followed where there lines go based on the description on the back of the plate.

You noticed the front brake line rubbing against the clutch line at all? I run the clutch lever really far in on the bars so it pushes the clutch cable up against the brake line.
I honestly just followed the wording and arrows on the number plate. Came out pretty clean and no rubbing.

Update

I went ahead and used the 2 stroke oem dampers from the old plate and attached them to the new plate
Thanks everyone for your photos and comments; that's what convinced me to do on my YZ.
By the way, has anyone noticed the rubber housing of the brake hose getting caught in the plastic guide of the number plate?
Could it be a manufacturing defect in the number plate? (Polisport)
I will check when I get home tonight. Why did you keep your front brake guide attached to the lower triples? More guidance or peace of mind?
Ok, thanks ✌️
I haven't removed the guide from the lower triples because I was just starting to assemble everything when I realized the brake line was getting caught..
Once I've assembled everything and tested it, if it's not needed, I'll remove the guide.
Are you running aftermarket or the OEM front plate? How does she look right now?

Today I've mounted the front fender and plate number from Polisport, fender is OK, but don't like how the brake hose is getting caugh by the guide of the plate.
What brand is your plate number?
For me, with plastics, I run OEM.
It looks like no rubbing or anything. Maybe because it’s the OEM/factory stuff?

Many thanks!!
Is that heat-shrink tubing for the hose in good condition? No chafing?
You're right, OEM stuff is quality. Mine might be due to a mold or manufacturing defect from Polisport.
I’m running the acerbis raptor 2 plate on my 125 no issues. I did have to move the brake line as high as it goes in the lower holder. The YZF plate makes the brake line tight. You do lose some adjustability with front brake lever location.

Here’s my photo regarding the clamping part.
Yes. None of that thank goodness.
Finally, went with the Acerbis number plate, all OK.
I think that the YZF fender and plate are more in line with the current YZ design.
That looks really clean!
Just curious if anybody knows if there’s a height difference on the pre 2018 style clamps? I have a 2013 and installed an 2023 acerbis front fender and cycra number plate. I made a template and drilled the holes out plus did the washer flip on the fender as well as drilled out the mounting hole for the number plate but still seem to have a decent gap between the plate and fender![]()
