The 2024 season will lift off this weekend on the beautiful track of Villa La Angostura, Argentina.

Don't forget: the top ten qualifying riders from MXGP and MX2-class will score points as follows: the rider who wins the Qualifying Race will receive 10 points, the 2nd will receive 9 points and so on, in a sliding scale down to 1 point for 10th position.

Points gained during the Qualifying Race will count for the MXGP and MX2 Championship standings as well as Manufacturers standings, but they’ll not be considered for the GP overall results. The Grand Prix overall results will still only count the points coming from the combination of the two main races. So there are 60 points for grabs each GP.

After the Qualifying Race on Saturday, the Championship points leader will display the front red number plate on the bike with white numbers during both races on Sunday.

Unfortunatly some riders have to miss the start of the season due to injuries, like Mattia Guadagnini, Roan van de Moosdijk and Kay Karssemakers. Alberto Forato is uncertain.

They run practice on Saturday before the qualifiers correct? Is there a way to get live timing from that?

Weird, the calendar shows Fri/Sat races; my PC clock is accurate and this has never happened in prior years. Mar 8 is Friday start?

Equally as big of a question, how many riders will be on the gate?

Over 20 of the regular GP riders in both classes each. Pretty good lineup.

You also have a new teammate with Roan van de Moosdijk, a rookie in the MXGP class. Does that make you feel more responsibility, do you feel like the team leader with all your experience?

I think so, yes. Roan is a rookie in the class, of course I know him as he is also Dutch. We get along really well and have a lot of fun together. I hope he will be good to go for Argentina. It is good to have him around. I also have new mechanics this year and I am very happy with them as well. There are some new things but I feel like we are all in a good spot for the moment.

Seems like he got injured.

I'm expecting an awesome season...  Not sure why I feel this way, and I hope he's 100%, I've got Renaux for the title.

Can Fernandez surprise again? Last year he took the win and looked spicy and not afraid to bang some bars with Prado at the Spanish round 2 weeks ago.

Those 2 don’t seem to like each other as there where no handshaking or even a look at each other on the podium.

Does anyone know if Everts is officially out? I didn’t see him on the entry list for round 1

Not that I remember but the soil is supposed to be weird like volcanic granules so it might drain good.

The track has taken the rain well so far, and although we've had showers, it should be good... Looking prime as always

Apparently this will be the last year at this exact venue though, but they are trying to get a new place in Patagonia

Thats  a shame, its a great track, and it pulls a ton of fans.

Hopefully it holds up ok, typical that with all the riders fit, the weather throws one in.

Been a long winter
