SMX Playoff Rounds, Hows Everyone Feel?

Edited Date/Time 3/4/2024 9:13am

Now that the venues have been announced, what are everyone's thoughts?  A 2 drag strips and a super speedways.  I did like how the race worked last year on the drag strip, however the super speedsways dont always work out.  And racing in september in Texas and Vagas could be in extreme heat.

May want to check that again. It's 2 drag strips and one super speedway.

Maybe hot, but not extreme in September.

I like how they went back to charlotte probably because it was a success, went to a new market, dallas and a popular market, vegas that wants to see dirt bikes again. I plan on going to vegas, my dad probably wants too, and i want to bring my grandma and grandpa along who live in mesquite now, my grandma has somewhat of an interest in racing and i think she would like to see it live and maybe meet some riders.

Feel good, thank you for asking. I can see Las Vega Motor Speedway from my back yard. Might even attend the race?

Its right on the edge of where we usually see those 110s in late August early September (September 8th was our highest temp day of 2023).  Its also typically very dry July, August, and into September, however mid September is usually first rain storm of the fall.  It is interesting that September 14th of 2023 was our first rain even since early July.  I would expect a very dry track, its going to be hard to hold any moisture.

Pretty bummed they aren't going back to Chicagoland. Had an absolute blast last year.

Here in Vegas I would be more concerned with wind in September than heat, during the day it might be above 100 but usually it’s mid 90s and the lows are dropping into the 70s so it actually should be really nice!

I think Vegas is the perfect venue to hold the finale.

By the time you have September 21 in las vegas the nights will be mild/cool. Still some heat during the middle of the day. The dirt will probably be like asphalt after drying all summer and all day outside though

Glad they are coming back to Zmax, the racing was awesome last year and its 45 minutes away, its going to be a day race again I'm sure, we have seen 100 degrees that time of year and guarantee the humidity will be up there!

Finish up SMX on 9/21 and get ready for MXoN on 10/4-6.

I like it.

1 thing I do like about TMS is that they have free parking, and they let you bring in coolers (including alcohol).

During practice it might be hot but I’ve heard all three will be night races because of the potential heat. Even 80 at night is hot but very manageable.

I live up the road from Vegas and we were waiting on this announcement to see if we were going to SLC SX or Vegas SMX.. my son was jumping around all sorts of excited when he saw we are finally getting racing back in Vegas. It’s a shame the powers that be just can’t have some dirt in their precious stadium at Allegiant.

We already got our rooms reserved at Aliante. If you’re going to the race, the speedway is pretty far north from the strip. I think Aliante casino/hotel is the closest. Just an FYI for anyone thinking about going. The strip has become pretty unbearably expensive.

RacerX posted a video on possibly why no ATL round.
