RC win at Daytona in 2000. The race this yr is the 1st week of march. Wasn’t it 2nd or 3rd week b4 ?
Larocco Indy 04 is worth a mention.
Larry Ward ,1990, Seattle
Mike Larrocco, 2004 Indy
Damn I should've put that one too. But I was too pissed that Reed got 3rd and pressuring Windham for 2nd on the last lap after Reed went down in the first turn.

This. 1990 Ward/Matiasevich was awesome. Motley Crue's "Kickstart My Heart" still brings memories of that race, and Ken using that as his intro song just nails that feeling. And Ward again in 1999, last race in the Kingdome.
Anyone get a first pro race, hometown win? Mx or sx?
Villopoto, Seattle 2009
My fav 3 off the top of my head are
Larry Ward in Seattle
Damon Bradshaw in Charlotte
Ryan Dungey in Minneapolis
Also I know the question is SX but any time John Dowd or Doug Henry Won Southwick that was pretty Rad
These two are pretty badass given that both riders were far from favorites at the time that they won.
also no greater “hometown” win then Henry and Dowd at Southwick….or Jason Mccormick at Washougal for that matter.
Rock at Indy FTW
Marty Moates 1980 USGP Carlsbad
Supercross win?
Lechien - San Diego - 83 - stock Yamaha.
Big bird at Seattle.....Larry Ward was THE MAN on that night.
Laroco the year he won the supercross in Indianapolis.....that was awesome.
I could argue Reed @ Daytona 2005. Since he lived in Dade City, FL
Emig at 1996 St. Louis SX has to be up there.
2013 Minneapolis SX Dungey over RV
RC in Atlanta 1997. If my memory serves...Atlanta was only his 2nd ever pro career start and very 1st pro win.
I had to look it up but in 1998, Kevin Windham won a 250 Supercross main in New Orleans.
Pit Row
Not SX, but Steve Lamson winning the Hangtown MX in 2000. He won at Hangtown like 4 or 5 times, but this one was the very last win of his career. On his home track made it that much sweeter, the fans were going wild that day.
Going back even further 1978 Trans AMA race at Sears Point. Darrel Schultz 500's and Magoo 250's winning at their home track.
Agreed!!! I was there. Awesome race.
Canard got his first 450 SX win in Houston in January of 2011, then backed it up with a win in Dallas later that season in April. Being from Oklahoma, Trey spent a lot of time racing in Texas. It was a hometown crowd for sure at both of those rounds.
Eli Tomac in Denver 2019. Technically not a home race maybe. But that Colorado crowd gave him a lot of love!
was there for both. very awesome to see.
