ha, somebody noticed. You win a box of free muffler packing (used).

So, I started restoring this last year. The frame and swingarm were powder coated, lots of new parts in the engine, new pipe & silencer, seat and plastic too. Luckily I found a tank in really good shape on Ebay, since nobody makes a replacement.

I haven't been able to find replacement decals though. :? Hopefully it will look good without the RM & Full Floater stickies. I didn't want to put decals from a newer model on it.

There's a guy over on the Aprilia forum that does up decal sets - you might try him and see if he can help out - I think his name is Chris -

Are you a jerk in real-life, or do you just play one on MotoDrive?

So here is my RM a few months ago...

[img:47d2b]http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t274/queen_of_spodes/P1010037.jpg[/i…]

Earlier this year some of you helped me with the piston, which rusted to the cylinder wall.
[img:47d2b]http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t274/queen_of_spodes/P1010111.jpg[/i…]

That's all for now. I thought some of you would appreciate seeing an old bike snatched from salvage & cleaned up a little. Hopefully some of you do. I'll post more photos when it's done if I remember to.

I think your powder coating person may have...um...not taken the best care of you. It doesn't really matter though, you'll have fun getting it together.

You learn more and more everytime you do a restore. Or at least I do...

No, I thought I saw something in the photo last night that I don't see today. Coors Light sometimes has that effect on me...

I am sorry if my observations lead you to believe I am a jerk.
If you will recall I gave you advice on breaking that rusty cylinder free.

The bike looks good so far, have fun with it and good luck.

Ebay. Some guy listed a ton of NOS parts for my bike, many of which I purchased. Beware if you order from him though, since he is a drop shipper and did not come through on a large order of parts earlier this year.
how did you get the lower fork tubes to look so new?[/color:85d2d][/quote:85d2d]

I used metal polish and a rag.

Is the frame painted or powder coated? What color is it? I have a full floater I need painted the same color. I like to paint it next week.

Hey guys, I could use a little help with my bike. It has a new top end and is super hard to kick over. I also replaced the ignition with a newly rebuilt one from Ebay and made sure the mark on the backing plate matched the mark on the engine case. The bike has a fat, blue spark. Also, I took apart the carburetor and blew compressed air through all of the passages. It was already very clean.

When I kick it over it occasionally tries to fire, but only for a second. Sometimes it kicks back very hard.

Any ideas?

Is the piston in backwards? The cut away in the skirt should be toward the rear. Just a thought.

Nice find and nice job on the resto so far.

I hope your cylinder was bored to the correct spec for the piston that you installed. Is it a Wiseco? Did you measure your ring end gap with the rings in the cylinder? I have often had to file ring ends with Wiseco, to achieve the correct gap.

Was your crank/rod rebuilt too?

I would consider removing the paint from the intake/reed area, somebody else mentioned.
