Can the KTM guys that are on last year frames switch to the new frame during the supercross season or are they stuck with what they got?
they can switch because the updated frame has been homologated … just like villopoto switched mid season.
I wonder if the Husqvarna team has switch to the new frame any time during the last five races. Steve during the pulp show said they’re on the old frame but I thought Craig said Mookie picked the new frame before the season started.
Not sure, what I’ve heard-
Husky team-
RJ- old frame
Nothing confirmed on other riders
KTM team-
Vialle- old frame
Everyone else on new frame
GasGas-
?
I believe Sexton and Plessinger are the only two on the new frame out of the KTM/Husky/GasGas Group.

Maybe I missed it. But does anyone have photo’s of the frame changes, were they major?
Old Frame
New Frame
The shock tower is the obvious difference but there are changes to material thickness elsewhere in the frame. KTM isn't telling the general public where it was thinned out. It sounded like they got the frames somewhat late for testing so that might explain the reluctance to change. I would think outdoors the more flexible frame will be obviously better and they will all switch then.
MXA”s latest videos test of the factory edition list out all the changes… more than just the hole in shock tower. Wall thickness changes, swingarm changes, bolt diameters… although testing cannot be completed until Glen Helen is available for comparisons…I will keep riding my 24, almost at 10 hrs, expecting works bike handling at 10.1hrs….really have to wait a full season to see if changes are worthwhile, I have noticed over the years if you really want to know what MxA thinks about a bike, read the following years test where they really tell you what they think…
It was stated in one of the test videos that the linkage/swingarm change is what is most noted for the flex difference. Teams could be running current chassis with different swingarm and linkage or a mix of parts, but frame must be oem spec or material can be added but not taken away.
the frame they chose in the off-season is what they're running for the rest of the year.
I almost bought the 24 350 and luckily hesitated because I broke my left wrist in september and still recovering. Ok maybe breaking my wrist wasn’t lucky but I had heard rumors of the updates back then and would have been staring at a brand new 24 for 4-6 months. I should be ready to ride by April 1… now i might get the FE 450 because im a sucker for the orange frame or wait a little longer to get a 25 350… decisions decisions.
Swingarm is the same, but linkage and associated bolt sizes are different though. However, the race team can mix and match. They don't run the same axle size as production, by example.
Last I checked: Plessinger, Sexton, and Beaumer are on the new frame.
All of Husky and GasGas were on the old frame.
Vialle when I last saw him test was on the old frame, but that was in early December. I need to look at photos from Detroit more carefully to see if he switched or not.
Thanks for clarifying… I just want my bike to handle well when on the edge of knobbies👌maybe some FCP engine mounts or remove a bolt from somewhere? Just having fun….
They can change whenever they want.
Can the old linkage be converted to the new linkage bolts/bearings or do you need new link and knuckle?
I thought in one of the FE reviews they said the front of the swingarm/chain slider has changed? I’m assuming to help with the chain binding during travel and eating the chain sliders off them
Pit Row
Yes. The linkage itself is the same from our testing just the collars are different holding the bolts in. Also we have found the gas tank, and intake, and clutch slave cylinder slightly different as well.
Hm, a couple weeks before A1 Chase said which ever frame they chose that's what the had to run. Unless they're really hating it, it makes sense that the team wouldn't want them to switch.
I’m fairly certain the one with swap moto the ktm guy said top of swingarm and chain guide are shaved down
Linkage ratio is the same but the link arms and bell crank are thinner/lighter. They're not the same part with different sleeves.
Chain sliders are different and cut lower. I asked over and over and got told the actual swingarm is the same.
