I have to say I'm super impressed (even as a fan of #2) with the way RV rode Sat night. He had bad luck in the heat and really kept his cool in the start of the LCQ - even though it cost a really bad position after the first turn. He methodically worked his way up and stayed cool.
In the main he rode like a seasoned pro and got a great start considering his gate pick. He worked his way up front and rode smart - just fast enough to keep a gap w/ Dungey (it looked like the gap gap seesawed back and forth).
How long has it taken James to get to where he keeps that cool and thinks long term (and he still has times where he gets impatient)? Villo is riding smart and fast and the whole night was fun as hell to watch!
Villy '10 SX/MX champ. Boo yah.

That may explain why he is riding like one
And even better, Dungey, Reed, and Stewart are also the real deal.
And even better than that is that Hill, and Grant easily have the potential to be the real deals too....
The future of AMA Supercross and Nationals is bright.....

Dungey looked pretty strong at Indy and KDUB could win one or two of these if he keeps twisting it like he did at Indy. How awesome was it to see Windham riding close to the edge. dude is sick
I would like to see RV be considerably faster than Dungey, and he may not be at this point. But RV seems to be getting more confidence and more speed each weekend while Dungey has stagnated.
And yeah, RV has won a bunch of Lites titles and has a season in the big bike class but plenty of other riders were unable to ride as smart or as fast in his place with similar credentials.
No knock on Dungey either. Not my fave rider but he is having a hell of a season.
The "I don't think anyone can go faster than that calls..."
Wait and see...
Pit Row
That would be RMZ819. He's backed off that BS recently though...
now next year, when Stew and Reed are back in the fight, it'll be even more interesting... giving RV a year of confidence is a Very dangerous thing.... RV might be more than Stew can handle next year.....
He has WHOOPED on the field in the lites coming from the back, He passed James at Vegas last year and ran away, and he did the same at Glen Helen last year coming from way back... He hasn't exactly been a holeshot machine his whole life has he?!?!?!?!
You'd be a twit to doubt RV's drive and ability to come from back in the pack... oh wait, who am I talking too???
As for the Dungey JS pressure thing I will say this- A1 RD was .4 off first practice went back watched tapes and 2nd practice closed gap, faster in heat and almost won-
Phoenix James uncharecteristically misses 2nd practice because the track waws "blown out" then crashed in a heat race trying to hurry to the front- Make your own conclusion on those facts-
