It sucks the media has latched on to Jett so hard. I remember watching him try to run down Ferrandis his rookie year when he broke his collarbone. I was an instant fan. fast forward a few years and im just like, give it rest on this kid ffs. The media is beginning to do more harm than good imo. Im sick of the constant Jett nut hugging at this point. I was such a fan in the beginning i didnt think i would be rooting against him now but i do.

The problem with nut hugging that tight is when they start to sweat it gets slippery.

I'm curious to know how much oversaturation he actually has. Or is it in some people's heads.

Some things that come to mind is a year ago when jett had a 4th place interview. Ppl were losing there minds. In the last 2 weeks nicoletti had a 4th place interview and plessinger was having one at a2 but it change during the interview. No one cares then.

Lawrence bros have a fan experience. Ppl lose there shit that they have some sort of favouritism. Yet other teams do it and have been for years.

Even the jett-anderson thing it's been blown way out of proportion. Imagine after the race jett posted something like the kenny-noren post. Or he stood next to the track and threw his goggles at a rider. It would be blown up to massive proportions.

I feel like some of you don't want him to succeed so badly everytime something is mentioned about him you get triggered.

I find it quite comical the Jett Fanatics and likely Jett himself are the ones being triggered by the backlash. An analogy would be the passengers on the Titanic…

Walk over to the Star truck or TLD truck and tell me if you see any sign of their VIP programs in progress. Then look over at the stand alone shrine erected for the Lawrences on prime real estate in the middle of the pits, and tell me if you see a difference in exposure.

Pretty easy to see there is a massive effort by Honda and others to defuse/downplay. Also a lot of effort to convince Jett to let it go. I am not sure he can.

If he can't, he'll pay a price.

Michael has loosened up the reins on the forum, which is great. But it comes with consequences unfortunately. Some of these guys in here take it way too far and then there are the ones that seemingly get a kick out of ruffling feathers. Some of these topics get beat to death and then the dog pile commences. I’m opening up far less threads, so I don’t have to endure the unnecessary banter about the same thing, over and over.

What that tells me is that the Lawrence's/Honda are using more of the money they expect to make off selling their VIP experience on building it into the best one they can.  And that other teams are taking the money from their VIP sales and putting it someplace else.  And that they wanted to do it differently , maybe in a way that would appeal to younger demographic  or to whoever they see as their target.

Any of the teams that want to pay for the extra parking spot can do the same thing.  Look at the setups that F1 has for VIP stuff. other teams do have entire rigs for hospitality. Honda and the Jett's just added one for the fans .

I really think that since unlike any other racer that has come before.  Jett has a brother that is also racing at the sametime and was in the other class. So You got twice the Lawrence talk.  Just like any other polarizing subject, whenever You get tons of views on that subject. You make more content about it.  All people have to do to get less Lawrence talk is stop watching , and posting about him.  Look at all the traffic this site has gotten .  And really the people critical of Jett have made a giant deal out of little things when compared to when another racer has done a similar thing.

I try and do it myself. It looks like You have all of the answers for what it takes to be a top media guy. How about You go out and show everybody how easy it is. Maybe You will be the best there ever is. Give it a shot.

And no I'm not one of those people that says You should not post Your opinion on stuff when I do not agree. Keep posting away, You might just have better insight after trying  to do what You are asking others to do that could be valuable.

Forum is fine and ML is doing a great job. GuyB was a toxic buzzkill. Dangerous freedom over oppressive safety.

The young guns we have in journalism are all doing a great job. We're on a good path. FELD needs to progress a bit and the OEMs need to get with the program; that's the biggest bottleneck at the moment.

Wheeler is like a Mr. Miyagi to Lewis, so he always sings his praise (rightfully so, Wheeler does an amazing job).

Wheeler also only attends one US Supercross year typically, he was actually in town for a MotoGP team launch. Trackhouse Racing did theirs in LA the night before Supercross. He doesn't have a main assignment so he chose to sit in on the press conference.

Most of the time, no, I don't know exactly what is said in the press conference if I'm out hunting for interviews in the pits after the race. As we discussed prior in this thread, the whole scrum thing hasn't exactly panned out so we have to go find the riders after the mains. They want to bounce immediately so if you attend the press conference, you're very likely to get no interviews afterward. Again, in this case I deemed Anderson as the primary interview I wanted. I was able to interview five other riders of interest while wandering. Jamie went to the press conference on Vital's behalf. We usually have one staff member attend the press conference live or via zoom, so whoever is in attendance at the race can prioritize the interviews we need outside of the press conference. Usually, if anything of interest is brought up in the presser, whoever attends will mention it to the staff that didn't go.

If you're interested in the press conference, it's on YouTube every single week.

all that is fair and I appreciate the response. I guess I just found it strange that the entire point of this thread was "Did anyone ask about JL/JA?" and the answer was "I sorta asked Anderson" but then Lewis didn't chime in that, in fact, there was a question asked in the presser. but i won't beat the dead horse any more. I think that we do agree that FELD/OEMs have got to step up professional/formal interview opportunities for the press and knock off "blackballing" those that ask questions they don't like.

Seems to me ML loosened the reins only on political content by allowing it in non-moto.  Having a valve for people to blow off on those topics keeps it out of the main forums.    Also, the ridiculous clicking members for lame reasons is gone since he took over.    Guaranteed RandomUserName would have been gone under GuyB for some of his responses regarding media.   I'm sure some of them piss off ML, but at least he doesn't silence him because he disagrees.

Don't kid yourself, "Ruffling feathers" and "dog piling"....goes both ways around here, just depends on which side of the topic you're on.    Plenty of personal attacks as well.   Neither  have increased/decreased in at least 6 years.     Quite literally the theme on the forum page for non-moto is:  "Bring your tear-offs and prepare to duck the roost!"    In other words, expect some fireworks.   This place requires thick-skin and I would wager that's a huge part of the draw here.

Vital does  have an  "Ignore feature"    Procedure: Don't open threads that have offended you, skip over posts of people who annoy you.    It works great.

I see a board full of passionate people who share a common love.    Not everyone is going to agree and not everyone is going to get along.     Forum/thread clicks are good for business....choking dialogue isn't.

From your description it sounds like Honda / The Lawrence Brothers are putting on a really good VIP experience for their paying guests, and going all-out to give them the best vfm, whereas it sounds like Star and TLD are happy to charge almost the same amount of money as Honda for a VIP experience,  but don't really offer a great experience, comparatively speaking.

Surely if you're unhappy about anyones VIP experience it should be Star and TLD because they charge a similar amount but for a worse experience?

oh trust me - GuyB clicked me more than once. he would NEVER have a convo about something like the media. If he felt it was a criticism, BYE - you're gone. It was the absolute worst during 'Rona where his political ideologies were on full display and any disagreement with HIS ideologies= clicked.

And yes, I'm sure I annoy ML, but I hope that the whole team at Vital sees that I'm not trying to "bash" them and if it comes across that way, I apologize. I am, however, challenging this sport's media to evolve and grow as it is desperately needed.

I’m opening up far less threads, so I don’t have to endure the unnecessary banter about the same thing, over and over.

Forum/thread clicks are good for business....choking dialogue isn't.

oh trust me - GuyB clicked me more than once. he would NEVER have a convo about something like the media.

I don’t mind being pushed but you’ve stepped over the lines a abit and have ridiculed me a bit before.

So yes, you annoy me a bit. At least you haven’t gone as far as thinking you have my phone number, when it’s actually my parents, and have texted them or called them to threaten me. That happened just the other night. 😂 Yay for this job…

If you don't know who Adam Wheeler is maybe you shouldn't be criticizing motorcycle journalism.

All I'm going to add is that my post had nothing to do with who is in charge.

Carry on.

There are some real nutters in the world out there, stuff like that should not be taken lightly.    You should report that to authorities so there is a record.
