Not attending this year but very curious to see videos/interviews from the Turn14 booths. They have massive spots this year so I’m assuming the official launch and Tucker rebrand will be announced..

I hope some people start to actually show up.  The old Indy days were so rad.

I think this is good timing for them.  In my area, WPS is really strong, but since the company was sold, the new owners seem to be working hard to cut expenses.  They have reduced the money they are spending on local sponsorships and promotions, and when reps have left recently, their positions haven’t been refilled.  Their territories have just been split up and absorbed into other surrounding territories.  Makes me wonder if the new owners are planning to keep and grow the company, or just trim fat to make it more profitable then flip it.

Walk across the aisle and ask if they know what happened to Christian Craig at A1

AIME used to be industry for the week and then open to the public on the weekend. I think you can just buy a ticket for Saturday or Sunday.

EDIT: Sorry, it looks like trade-only now. Get a friend from your local dealer to "hire" you for the day?

The trade shows are definitely something I kinda miss since leaving the industry. Some of that is undoubtedly looking through rose tinted glasses, but still; had some real fun at those over the years.

I never hit that one. I started going to Indy in 04 as a dealer, then for PU in 08 until the show died. We just had our spring show which was awesome but nothing beats the size of the old school Indy shows.

Working in the MC industry for over 40 years I have seen all 3 take their time at the top #1 position at one point. I remember the launch of WPS at Indy where each day all the large staff showed up wearing a different colored WPS pit shirt each day. It was definitely eye catching! Even Our Maryland Tucker Rocky rep had gone to them. I believe Parts Unlimited is the only one of the 3 that has not been sold and taken a downward swing. Then again PU is also a distributor in Canada and Europe so I am sure that has helped them tremendously.

The Dealer News Expo was HUGE in Indianapolis. There were so many of us manufacturers displaying it was taking up every available inch of show space with all the distributors in the show. As I recall there was a staff split up of the Dealer News show promoters and Dealer News folded and the new AIMExpo began. The 3 big dogs had also started doing their own small show bringing in dealers to show them only their own stocked products.

Since being sold the new WPS cut backs and practices have changed the way I am doing business. For over 10 years we had been happy with them. I had never focused on doing Dealer direct sales because that was always the distributors job. The new WPS was immediately extremely slow taking several months to restock each of their 5 warehouse’s with inventory and doing it in only 3 of the 5 warehouses in tiny 1 or 2 numbers instead of 10+ of our HOT moving products going to all 5 warehouse’s like they had done for over 10 years.

It is simple Supply and demand. There is demand for the Moto Hose product so since WPS was not stocking a large number of dealers started coming directly to us to get the product. Another plus is we are also still giving dealers the industry standard % margins unlike distributor new dealer pricing structure.

Here is a peak at the New Moto Hose 2024 show wall.

The Retail days may have just been interrupted by that Super Bowl thing that’s going on in Vegas that weekend. Woohoo

I never made it to Cincinnati and I think 2002 was my 1st time at Indy when I was thinking about buying a MC shop. I even first met Engine Ice Dave at that show.

I worked in the Maryland Ed Tucker warehouse in the late 1980’s about the time they became Tucker Rocky.

You probably worked with him but I wonder what Haus is up to now?

Cincinnati was real good fun aswell.

I remember going as a kid and getting thousands of stickers every year, then it moved to Indy. Still awesome to go, but the convention center is less than 10 mins from me in Cincy.

The stickers! I would bring back bags full and sell 'em at the shop. Paid for my plane ticket.

Yea, my friend and I sold them to some reseller on eBay when it came around. It was something to look forward to every year. Awesome to see everything and everyone, plus make money.

It was hard to beat Cincinnatti for late nights in Covington KY, I remember riding shotgun with Larry pegram and Ronnie Jones as we assaulted the parking garage lol
