He had done a 1000 things unpresidential. I don’t shy away from it. But it doesn’t change the fact that the country was in a much better place than we are now. You are hell bent on deflection it seems for some reason. Can you enlighten me on things that are better today, the reason for them, and who would be best leading us tomorrow?

How about you tell me the 5 most unpresidential things Trump did under his presidency and I'll tell you 5 things that I think are better now than they were before?

A little tit for tat.

Deflection? Nah.

Putting you in a spot where you have to expand on the most unpresidential things Trump did while in office so you say, "deflection", to get out of the conversation. Yes.

(do any of you actually know what deflection means?)

You asked if I thought what he did that day was unpresidential. I said yes, and even said he has done 1000 things unpresidential. Then I asked you how today is better, than when he was president. You then tried to get away from the question that I asked you by doing the stupid 5 for 5 crap. In the end, you did deflect and you just try to stir shit up. Therefore have zero merit for anything you say. Just a typical internet troll who does not bring anything relative to the table. Be gone

(I'm still down to do a 5 for 5 though – could be a fun exercise where we both bring something to the table.)

FWIW, not once did you say what he did on that day was unpresidential, you only agreed that he has done 1000 unpresidential things.

He should have been more presidential on January 6th. By more presidential I mean clarity in peace(which he did state) as well as remaining off the grounds.

For clarification

I didn't deflect, I asked for clarification.

But, yet again, you can't give it because we both know if good'ole "America First" Trump wanted to do something when he saw what was happening at one of the most important symbols of American Democracy he could of (and should of) done something but chose not to because – like all men who crave power vs people who deserve it – he liked what he saw.

That's why you, nor anyone else except for "it's on the record what he did but the files wen't missing" fella, can defend it. It was yet another pathetic act by a pathetic man.

Why should I defend it? I don't think what he did was wrong. It was a peaceful protest that a few bad apples out of 10s of thousands  that did bad things. It was by and large a peaceful protest. Did you watch any of the released video that the sham J6 commission tried to suppress? People being ushered by the police? Shaking hands with the police? Being respectful? Yes there were some bad apples that did some damage, that was fucked up. But Trump did exactly what was right, didn't try to squash their constitutional right to protest. Why would anyone have to defend that? But I'll give this, you're good at what you do, what ever you want to call it.

TM

Sadly, I think you'll remain in denial until your dying day.

The rioting that took place on January 6th was the culmination of a series of events, not a single organic occurrence. It was the final, blundering act of a corrupt & odious individual who'd spent months whipping his devoted followers into a frenzy with blatant lies, tried to overturn election results with meritless lawsuits & organised a fraudulent scheme to swap fake slates of electors with the official ones during the certification process.

He didn't call the rioters off for hours because he was pissed that his fake elector plot had been thwarted by Mike Pence, and secondly the rioters were doing exactly what he'd hoped they would; create chaos and demonstrate their blind loyalty to him. He lit the fire inside them and watched on gleefully as they ransacked the Capitol Building. Ashli Babbitt was sent to her death and hundreds of others sent to prison - some for decades - by a man who couldn't process the personal humiliation of losing an election and now spends his time hosting lavish parties at Mar-a-Lago.

That's not the behaviour of someone who should ever be trusted with presiding over a nation of 350 million people again, that's the behaviour of a villainous, pathological liar. Because that's what Donald Trump is.

5 bad things

Went to Washington too nieve about how deep the "deep state" was and believed that people given the chance would support what's good for the country vs their personal power.

Brought in some terrible people, think Amarosa. But also brought in some great people

Did not stand by and support Mike Flynn from the beginning.

Did not FIRE Comey day 1. But when he finally did, allowed someone just as bad to replace him.

Did not kick Jeff Sessions to the curb the day he said he'd be hands off. Should have pulled his papers before even confirmation.

If you go by Obama's words during his Presidency. It was the best time in history to be alive. Lowest amount of war in history. By that standard, living during the Trump years has to be the peak of the best time in history to be alive

Oh man, I asked for 5 of the most unpresidential things Trump during his presidency and your first item on the list was, "he under estimated how deep the deep state was"? Kind of a cop-out response, but, in the spirit of playing the game, I'll give you 1 thing that is better now than it was under the previous administration: for a shit ton of older Americans their insulin has been capped at $35 a month!

TM, don't want to pick on you too much or speak for wombat, but this would be considered deflection (to me)

your first point isn't a negative. It's the equivalent of being asked about a weakness in a job interview, and saying you work too hard.

point 2, you followed it up with a positive, which washes out the negative

It's wild to me that so many people in the republican party aren't fighting harder for someone other than Trump to be the nomination.

Not only did he not walk with his people to the capital building (he got everyone all fired up and peaced the fuck out), but the dude didn't do anything for three hours while his own people broke into the capital building. What sort of leadership is that? Why not demand more of your nomination?

Like, if I found out the fire chief sat on his hands while a building across the street from the fire station burned for 3 hours – not even using the time to devising a plan of attack but just sitting on his hands watching it burn – he'd be gone the next day.

I agree that Trump should have been more out in front of keeping things under control on that day. The only possible excuse (not really excuse, maybe explanation?) is that there was a lot going on and things got out of control pretty quickly. He should absolutely have been more presidential and responded quicker as things escalated. Agreed.

The FBI and DOJ are the folks you should really be mad at, though. The FBI had several informants surveilling different right-wing groups for months leading up to Jan. 6th, they knew wide-spread rioting was planned and that evidence was used by the DOJ to get a bunch of convictions for Seditious Conspiracy. They had that evidence for months.

The FBI took that evidence so seriously that they didn't share it with anyone tasked with security at or near the Capitol building.

How do you feel about that?

Oh, I'm disappointed by everyone that day. It was a very very bad look for America.

I haven't read all the reports (there are just too many of them); were people in charge alerted that a bunch of folks would attempt to break into the capitol specifically or was it just a, "heads up everyone, riots are being planned"?

So the intent of that was that he was unprepared for the task because he was unaware how bad the problem was.

I believe some people would consider that unpresidential not being prepared. If you consider that deflection, wasn't the intent.

OK, I'll sub out #1 with, he caricaturized a lot of folks with funny names. While this would be considered unpresidential, I believe it was very effective in dealing with many problems. Rocket Man being one.

The FBI had information gathered over several months that a seditious conspiracy was being organized and did nothing. Trump was made aware that protests were turning violent and acted within a couple hours.

He took too long to act, but he did act. The FBI didn't even give anyone a heads up.

I'm in no way defending or not defending the FBI's actions on that day, but, at what point should the FBI stop a threat? They know something is coming, but you can't technically stop people before they commit the crime, right? Sort of like how you can't arrest someone who is going to kill someone until they hire the undercover cop to kill said person.

That said, I still believe everyone should have done more to prep just incase something went sideways, even though it's insane to think that you need to prepare to prevent a bunch of self proclaimed patriots from breaking into the capital building. And even then you get into a whole, does having lots of police there then become a point of instigation for people looking for a fight? Lots of interesting questions and ideas to explore about what happened that day.

But, at the end of it, being the CEO of company myself – much like how Trump was CEO of the Country – the buck stops with him (and me) and he has to take responsibility for encouraging people to go to the capital, the actions that unfolded, and his lack of doing anything to calm it; none of which he did or has done.

The FBI were the threat.

How can anyone think J6 was anything but a desperate attempt by POTUS 45 to remain in power? Wild. Every coherent person understands what it was.

Who at the time was run by Christopher A. Wray, who was nominated by Trump.

So, another failure of Trump?

OK, I'll sub out #1 with, he caricaturized a lot of folks with funny names. While this would be considered unpresidential, I believe it was very effective in dealing with many problems. Rocket Man being one.

I'll 100% give you this one; name calling is a very childish behavior and something I'd consider very unpresidential.

He was next in line and Go back to my original, I don't believe Trump knew how bad/deep the corruption went. Still goes.

The FBI had information gathered over several months that a seditious conspiracy was being organized and did nothing. Trump was made aware that protests were turning violent and acted within a couple hours.

He took too long to act, but he did act. The FBI didn't even give anyone a heads up.

They do it every day. Do you know how many people have been out drinking and decided to sleep for a while in their car because they had been drinking. The police come along, knock on the window only to tell them they are under arrest because they had the potential to drive drunk?

Try again

Actually, they can't arrest you for sleeping in your car UNLESS your keys are in the ignition.

No, crowd prevention is always easier than dissipating a riot. But when you have feds in the crowd instigation the riot, why would you want to perform crowd control? And why was Kamala at the DNC when she should have been at the certification? And who got fired for letting her walk past a "bomb"? A very stinky day for the Cabal. Wink Inquiring minds want to know!

replace ignition with possession and you're correct.

At Trump's news conference last night, he said something about "working closely with these people for the next 4 years".

And then introduced Vivek, Burgum, and Tim Scott.

He was basically saying they are in line for potential VP, and other key cabinet positions.

I could see Tim Scott or Vivek as potential VP, not Burgum. But Burgum does have a strong business background, and it sounds like he is a good Governor, so lots of potential Cabinet slots for him to get.

I also heard that and think it's going to one of those three. Vivek or Burgum would both be great pics for VP. I like a business background over some law school grad. We have had enough of those failures and crooks in DC.
