I support Governor Abbot in using the Texas National Guard to protect it's borders.  This invasion has gone on far too long and maybe the time has come to take a stand.

Texas National Guard seizes control of park near border in anticipation of ‘future illegal immigrant surges’ (foxnews.com)

I really cannot understand the condoning of illegal immigration. Anything else illegal is prohibited within the extent of the law. If this many people were all having 5-6 beers every day after work before hopping in their car it would be considered a national crisis. If illegals are wanted and encouraged in change the law to accommodate, qualify, and vet them. This country needs immigrants, but we need defendable borders as well. It's part of being a sovereign nation. Now that the obvious is stated, what is the federal government's motivation or agenda to allow this to happen?

Its all about the votes.   Anything anyone tells you to the contrary is kidding themselves or just plain stupid.

This is about control and power.

The new immigration plan leaked. Apparently they told Glitch, no more money for Ukraine unless you support this. Check #3. Sounds like an invite for many more.

Border deal would:

1) Increase green cards by 50,000/year

2) Work permits for adult children of H-1B holders

3) Immediate work permits to every illegal alien released from custody

4) Taxpayer funded lawyers to certain UACs and mentally incompetent aliens

5) Expulsion authority for a limited number of days ONLY if encounters exceed 5k/day over a seven day period

6) Restricts parole for those who enter without authorization between ports of entry

They always say the immigration system is broken. Can anyone explain what exactly is broken about it other than enforcement?

Immigration is purposely broken, it is one of numerous political footballs used to keep us divided and distracted.

Democrats look at every Illegal Alien they allow into this country as a future Democratic voter.  It's all about staying in power and turning this country into something completely different than what it use to be and what made it great.  We're being attacked domestically and internationally and don't let them blow smoke up your Asses, America can't afford to feed, house, pay and provide medical to an uneducated bunch of Parasites that are going to bankrupt us, were WAY! past the point of this being a crisis.  The Dummies that bragged about being sanctuary cities are now getting a taste of what Texas has been dealing with and they're panicking, because Governor Abbott decided everybody get's to share in the misery, which they wern't expecting.  When they run out of Hotels and Schools,  the next step for Democrats is to start forcing American citizens to start housing these invaders in their private homes if they have vacant rooms.   I'm a numbers guy and know how to manage a budget, Democrats are idiots when it comes to that and what they are doing is not sustainable.

I wonder what the crossings would look like if they had "Adult Male" tags.

How do illegal immigrants become voters? Genuine question. I’ve known a few families who were here illegally and none of them voted because they don’t have the identification to do so…

In my state, voter I.D. requirements only came into effect within the last year. It goes to court every few years, and until now was considered "racially discriminatory". I fully expect it to be overturned in the near future.

So how does that work? Can anyone just walk in and fill out a form? Do they track who has already voted?

Living in Virginia, I get a letter that names the one location where I’m allowed to go vote. I go there and they scan a code on my driver’s license, confirm my name is on their list, and then mark that I’ve come in.

I became voting age just in time for the 2008 presidential election. You walked into the voting station in your area (there are several in my area) gave them your name and address, the nice poll worker wrote it on a legal pad, then you walked over to the machine or were handed a paper ballot to fill out. If you had a paper ballot, you scanned your completed ballot into a computer, and walked out. How could the 1 person taking names be able to stop fraud? Maybe they didnt want to know.

Can’t say I agree with letting a mother and her two children, one of which was a toddler, drown. But here we are.

We try to hire smart, capable people from the local university and it turns out a lot of them are foreigners. Trying to get them legal is crazy difficult, expensive and stupid. We are trying to get the best from other countries and the government makes it extremally difficult. It seems to me that "immigration system is broken" is just a political talking point for both sides to talk about fixing. Nothing changes.

Drama Queen, Much?

No worries. Because, that’s not what the serious adults in the room are discussing. How about the idea of letting them stay in Mexico or whatever country they’re attempting to enter from?

And, to be clear, since I’m responding to your “virtue signaling” post…they are entering ILLEGALLY.

Look, I get that you’re trying to justify the open border that exists; but, why can’t you take up a reasonable position based on The Law?

Don't worry the illegals can become cops in my state. How am I to react to an illegal cop pulling me over?

I don't like it either... BUT, that was self-inflicted. Unfortunately her kids didn't have a say in the matter. The mother made a bad decision, cost them ALL of their lives.

I get this is a touchey topic right now, and I understand how this sub feels about the issue. I’ll just say one thing and leave you all to it. I wish people would just, for one second, try to put yourself in their shoes. Imagine being so desperate that you’ll risk your life and your child’s life to get here. Because you see this nation and the flag of Stars and Stripes as the beacon of hope for you and your loved ones. You’re willing to leave everything you’ve ever known to go to a country where you likely don’t speak the language and have no idea what may await you when you get there. But you know that staying where you’re at is a death sentence. So you risk it all. Knowing this is your best shot at life. I just can’t even imagine. I doubt any of us here can. We certainly need to tackle the immigration issue head on. No question about it. Just remember these are human beings, the overwhelming majority of which truly just want a better life for themselves and their loved ones.

That's a very compassionate yet bleeding heart liberal take on it.

What about the compassion for the citizens of this  great country that are taxed to bankroll everything?

We (the people) are like the titanic survivors in life boats and the crushing wave after wave of illegal alien migrants are like the unfortunate people in the water who wish to all be saved by taking over the life boats and thus sinking everyone on board in  their own illegal pursuit of a better  life.

It's a harsh reality that we face as a nation.

I can sympathize with their plight but we will sink our collective life boat at these astronomical levels of illegal migration brought to you by Biden and company.

Is it wise to sink ourselves at sea to save everyone that can't be saved and we all die??

You should ask why mexico is allowing their southern border to be crossed unchecked.

If you can't figure it out i'm sorry.

This country needs immigrants. It was founded on immigration. Our population explosion, the thing that made the USA into the 20th-century powerhouse that it was, is due largely to immigration. However, our immigrants must come here in a legal, orderly fashion, one that ensures their assimilation into citizenship and our shared cultures.

It should be far easier, cheaper and faster for someone to become naturalized. That would make it easier for all involved to accept instant deportation and a closed border.

However, the unchecked river incoming individuals, many of whom are only here for nefarious purposes, is a disaster waiting to happen.

There are 5-10 unvetted large battalions of fighting age men illegally crossing our borders daily.  How is it that they're able to organize so quickly to invade our borders, but they couldn't do the same to take back their own countries.  They're the remnant dregs of a failed socialist society coming to make a better life for themselves, and only themselves, at the expense of the US taxpayers.

So the, "letting a mother and her children drown", story was bullshit.

They did indeed drown.

But no law enforcement,  or border agents were anywhere near when it happened.

But hey, the biden administration, and media don't let those pesky facts get in the way of a good story.

Much like the border agents on horseback whipping illegal immigrants.

I'm starting to see why Texas is so adamant about having its own power grid. There isn't an administrative, legal or technical way to shut the grid down, short of sabotage.

And can that really be true about Illinois allowing illegal immigrants to be cops?
