Creatine will mess you up for riding!. It causes your muscles to bloat, hold water, and cramp up easily. Stuff is decent for lifting, but not good for riding. I had to quit taking it years ago for the same reason.

His trainer said that the supplement company changed the formula of a supplement that he directed Davi to take. He took him off of it after they discovered that the company started adding creatine to the supplement.

FYI - there is no QC, regulation, or Govt entity requirement to accurately display what is actually in weight lifting supplements. I have a very close friend who is a professional body builder and he only uses very specific supplements because there is no regulation in the supplement industry - and he uses the one that tests out the best (there are some testing companies that independently run tests and report them, but most people don't know this). Just because a label says something, doesn't mean thats what's in it when it comes to weight lifting supplements.
Yeah, I've used a lot of different supplements myself, my point is that, if it had a high priced supplement like creatine in it, they would have it in big bold lettering on the side, they would be foolish not to market the product without including that.

Who knows, maybe Davi gets his in an unmarked tub, I have no idea.

Arm pump all mental? Then I am a huge headcase. I've had horrible problems with it just like davi described his, pumping up within a few laps. I never understood why I got it so bad, but I recently found out I have SUPER SUPER low blood pressure, and someone tossed out the theory that because it's so low, I go out, ride hard and my bp spikes something crazy, therefore my arms go popeye after 3 laps.

Outsider,

Good point, if they would want to market the product does have creatine.

Davis,

IMO Arm pump is not mental becasue I also get it and I'm not a head case. I do drink soda and everyone told me that is the cause..not drinking enough water. Nobody really knows what causes arm pump. I bet if Davi did those ball squeezing exercises it would be gone.

I have the Semics video as I have suffered from arm pump from time to time - just at the track (not so much on trails). Since I watched the video and followed his instructions, my arm pump is much less - in fact and this is really odd, I don't have any arm pump at all on my clutch hand. I have a TON of arm pump on my throttle arm (and I'm married and my wife is very hot, so don't say it's a floggin the dolphin problem). I think it is due to not speed shifting - as well as not carrying enough speed through the corners so I'm working the throttle too much.

Watch the Semics video, do the work outs (they do help). I do some other exercises too in addition to the Semics exercises.

It's not the creatine, it's the hot dogs.

It goes like this:
Hot dogs contain nitrates
In the body, nitrates can be converted to nitric acid
Nitric acid can cause tautomerizations (a flip, if you will) of nucleotide base pairs in DNA
This results in a point mutation in the DNA of said hot dog user.
Ergo, hot dogs are the cause of mutations, arm pump and the downfall of mankind.

Geez...don't you guys know anything? Tongue

ask Ryan Hughes about arm pump, or even MC, dispute and say what you want but arm pump comes from hanging on too tight and with tensing your arms, if you relax your arms and let the bike do all the work youll be fine, you could basically ride no handed if you didnt have to work the controls.

Soda is definitely a problem if you are experiencing arm pump. Not just not drinking water, but soda is really bad for lactic acid build up. I watched the semics video (kinda gay with the whole 80's look and feel, but effective none the less) and got a lot out of it. Seat time, squeezing with the legs, watching your diet, proper exercises on off days, and proper warm up/stretches/mineral ice will resolve arm pump. This isn't a new problem. It's very possible/likely that one small supplement could have caused such an issue to a Pro rider that is comfortable in the air, knows how to ride, rides every day, knows to squeeze with his legs, and does the proper exercises on off days. If the arm pump is gone and all that was changed was the diet, what does that say?

He said he was taking 1000 MG(that 1 gram) a week.

Not enough to give a rats ass about.

Arm pump is caused by out of shape.

bingo

I was just trying to say that riders at the level of Milsaps are at such a level that something as simple as this creatine can cause issues. I am pretty sure his riding technique is fine as this arm pump thing recently came about and it sounds like they found the reason. Of course they could be just saying it was creatine and some of us are buying that story. Either way it seems he felt great at San Diego.

Key words "he SAID he was taking 1000 mg". who knows how much it really was as again, there are no regulations in the supplement industry. it could have very easily been much more and not known.

Arm pump caused by being out of shape? I'm in very good shape and I get it sometimes. I know others in fantastic physical condition and they get it too from time to time. Milsaps is in great shape and is a pro. A lot can cause it.

Milsaps' performance:
First 3 events while taking Creatine - 6 races (3 heat and 3 mains) - 1 podium (16.7%)
Last 2 events no creatine - 4 races (2 heat and 2 mains) - 4 podiums (100%)

Just sayin......

So she won't really win at racing and gain her notoriety by having a pretty face and being sponsored by a company that exploits her in their advertising? I think I'd shoot a little higher than that.

Oh, and regarding supplement labeling, they (who they are, I am not sure but it was a study I read) looked at a number of body building products and found actual... wait for it... steroids. That industry needs some over-site. One has no idea what they are taking.

this cracks me up

ok so if it wasn't because of what he says what do you experts think is the reason he has gone from 9th place finishes into a podium and a win?

I mean why lie about it?

Isn't arm pump due to the blood going into the forearms not being able to get out? increase blood flow decrease arm pump!

I don't know how to do that but I'm not a trainer

You are 100% correct sir

Milsaps is pretty good in the wet rutted out tracks. On top of that the stars lined up for him. RD and RV were down in the first corner. A win does not make a career. I wonder if he will ever figure that out. For every win that Milsaps has there are 15 brutal finishes. If the track is dry this week he will be outside the top 7 IMO.

Isnt masturbation a proven cause of arm pump, especially if your a 98 pound weakling who gets sand kicked in their face on a daily basis at the beach?

Creatine high priced? You can get monohydrate thrown at you for free when walking into a supplement store. Creatine is cheap, however if you want a brightly coloured box like the one Ronnie Coleman holds in all the cool posters, with a bad ass name like "hyper cell Xplosion" and it contains "cell magnifying matrix", then sure - it will cost. But it still isn´t worth it.And many times the hyper, mega earthshattering product is little more than overpriced monohydrate and sugar with a nice flavour.
