Sad to hear that former Aussie sx and road racer Anthony gobert is in palliative care , he had his struggles with drugs all the way though, , he has rides for factory kawi in world superbikes and factory Suzuki on 500gps now moto gp ,
was Aussie sx champ in the early 90s as well
Dang that sucks. Got to watch him race at Newcastle Supercross in I believe '91.
Sad news.
I just saw an interview with him, it was tough to watch.
Yeah it was rough wasn’t it
I was a big Go Show fan, such a talented rider on anything - I remember one year he turned up to Sydney Supercross and raced it after years of just doing WSBK….and of course was super competitive!
I hope the family are doing ok - I raced mx against Aaron Gobert a few times. He was an absolute rocket on dirt bikes too

I remember watching him ride at Perris Raceway with Jeff Emig in his prime. Gobert wasn’t far off Jeff’s pace. I couldn’t believe it!
I agree, can't imagine how that is on Aaron, Alex and the rest of the family,
The video for other who hasn't seen it.

That’s not good.
considering he raced a factory muzzy Kawasaki in World super bike that season, it was a pretty amazing effort to make the final
I remember seeing him at a supercross event at Earls Court in London in 2000. He was in the stands just up from me and being a huge Go-Show fan at the time and knowing who he was, i was excited to see him there and wanted a chat, pic or whatever......until I realised how cooked he was. Dont get me wrong, we all love a good time but he was not really there and I didnt bother.
This makes me sad.
Dont do drugs kids, please.
Matt
to be fair, at earls court in 2000, most kiwi's and Aussies would be off their head.
hahahaha you're right mate, maybe I was the one missing out.
The go show would race Aus SX to fund his road racing as none of the Aus teams would help him out.
He would race a Honda proddy roadrace bike and I think Kawi in SX and win.
What could have been if he stayed the course…
Not sure why but I can't post from a timestamp?
Biggest could have been of anyone anywhere.
I see online that Anthony passed away yesterday

Pit Row
From what I heard the Gobert family lost control of his Facebook account and are not really happy about that video being out there.
RIP, he was a comet that burned brightly for a short time.
That is a movie, 4 years after his first World Superbike win... The guy was pretty amazing if you look things in perspective. But starting at marijuana and ending up with heroine. Pity!
RIP GoShow
RIP
Anthony was so talented at Moto! I never saw him ride bitumen but from what I have seen from people’s comments who have he was just as talented. I will never forget witnessing him winning the 1992 250 SX Main Event (450’s equivalent today) at Boondall Entertainment Centre Brisbane. I had just finished racing my very first SX race in the 80cc Class. Anthony left everyone behind and was the first person I ever saw landing a large Triple sitting down with his leg out mid air ready for the left hand corner that followed. RIP Legend you have been an inspiration for so many in our Moto community! Taken way too young but never forgotten Mate.
He had awesome style from the early 90’s that would hold up today 😎 For those that know Tech 4’s with the prints on the leather were the style and Answer Gear with the custom painted Bell Helmet and Fluoro Oakley’s 👌 Minty
Dude was ridiculously talented on 2 wheels and it’s so sad that he’s gone too soon. Godspeed Go Show and prayers to his family and friends.
