I mean they are having a melt down, are you not reading the comments?
Ahh it’s pretty simple.. (again, I am not at all a friese fan)
if friese can come from an outside gate (and he wasn’t way out there) and make the inside of the first turn in first place then it’s on the other riders that can’t get there or stop in time..
when you are in front and can control the first turn, you do it every single time.. he doesn’t have rear view mirrors, nor does he need to care about who is behind him and what is happening there.
Exactly this. Every rider in the field that had Vince’s start would have done that exact same thing. Hunter held it on too long and that’s what happens.
He was in the middle of the track, not ‘way outside’ like every one says.
Stupidity around here is goat’d.

Two words that go together oh so well...
friese OUT.
The issue here is, he’s done so much stupid stuff for so long, he will always be clumped into the one that’s the cause of the incident.
If this was any other rider last night, it would have been viewed as a dumb over-aggressive racing incident. But, you can only be dumb and overly aggressive so many times before you just become Dumb.
he’s a hazard due to his own actions over many, many years. Add Hunter and Chase into the long list who have been “Friesed”
Hard to imagine the level of denial/delusion you must have to come on a public forum and argue that the 1st turn crash was not caused by Friese. Wanting it not to be Friese's fault is the ONLY way you can come to that conclusion.
Sexton got up and qualified in this same heat. Hunter needs that same kind of urgency. Certainly it seemed like he was cruising around in the LCQ. That was the time to take risks.
I don’t agree here, even though I highly respect you, your experiences and talent.
if this were true, we would see many, many more first turn crashes.
However, like my post above ….. if it were anyone other than Friese, they wouldn’t be getting so much shit for it.
It wasn’t aggressive. He was taking real estate that was open to him. I don’t like Vince but people need to take there Vince hatred glasses off. Any racer in his position does the same thing.
You don’t just “take real estate” that’s available. Or, if you do, you can expect to have the reputation Friese does. Lol. It was aggressive and it caused a small pile up. Anyone else and it would be called the same thing. However, anyone else without such a checkered past of questionable moves and it wouldn’t be ridiculed as much.
What you saw was the reason most first turn crashes happen. The guy behind who clearly doesn’t have it tries to force the issue and clips the other guy. Vince did nothing wrong. If Vince wasn’t there, hunter doesn’t make the first turn. You don’t usually see a guy on the out side being far enough ahead to get to the inside of a first turn, but it happens and when it does, be ready for it. If you think that Vince did something wrong in that situation, you’ve probably never had a holeshot before (not directed at you personally, just in general). First turn crashes happen. It’s part of the sport. Sorry Vince is a better started than hunter and that’s what happens.
Uh yes you do take track position when you’re ahead and trying to stay ahead. Like renner said hunter needed to shut it down sooner knowing he didn’t have position.
vince doesn’t deserve to be dragged for this. Any other rider in his spot and we wouldn’t put any fault on them.
Is this incident comparable to the Kevin Moranz first turn move that everyone was so worked up about?
I agree with everything you say except, Hunter would have made the turn. Nothing wrong with Vince doing what he did. It was aggressive and he did what he had to do. That’s doesn’t mean his move didn’t cause the pile up, imo. Hunter probably didn’t even see him until contact was made.
Furthermore, he’s getting shit on so much for it due to his general lack of good decision making skills and over aggressiveness for years. Not this. People hate on him because it’s built up and in a “racing” incident like this, he’ll never get the benefit of the doubt.
How thick is your skull?
Hunter caused the pile up by running into the back of friese bike.
Because Friese came across the entire inside of the pack and Hunters front end, while on the brakes. If it wasn’t Hunter who hit him, someone else would have.
Friese sent it in there! Which is fine, but still caused the pile up.
I’ll say it this way - Vince’s awesome start caused a pile up.
Friese took a big chance coming from the outside to holeshot the field, but it worked out for him. You can’t “take someone out” from the outside, especially when you’re ahead of them. If the guys on the inside of him didn’t have the wheel on Vince, it was their obligation to shut off.
Pit Row
If hunter can’t see the guy that is just to his left, and in front of him, then he may need glasses. Kenny might not have seen him coming, but hunter was right next to him. He holds it on too long when he didn’t have it. That’s it’s. We all have done it, sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn’t.
Friese got a great jump off the gate, but not great enough to cut all the way to the inside stripe at the entrance of the corner. Asshole move by Vince.
It is possible Vince is in a Ricky Vaughn type of situation where getting glasses and hearing aids could greatly improve his racecraft.
It doesn’t happen as slowly as some in here think. No way Hunter saw Vince and decided to not stop.
Hunter thought he had it, he didn’t. You don’t look to make sure it’s all clear.
Vince had a better start a more aggressive line and took it, causing Hunter to fall and a small pile up.
I’m not shitting on Vince. It is what it is. I’ve explained above why others are shitting on him.
Hunter was not in front and ran into the back of another bike because HUNTER got a poor start and needed to check up earlier. It does not matter who was on the other bike since Hunter ran into the back of him.
Does Vince need to have the shit kicked out of him for some other actions? Yep. In this case, he beat the factory Honda to the first turn and had control of that part of the track, like it or not.
I other words, Vince did everything correctly, and the guys that ended up on the ground didn’t. Sounds like we agree.
Yeah, Vince did everything correctly for him. He sent it in aggressive and caused a little carnage in his wake.
Vince still caused it wether you think it’s right or wrong you like Vince or hate him.
This was halfway down the start straight. If hunter can’t see this, he’s either completely blind, or staring at his front number plate
Those Hondas don’t have brakes? I bet you’re the guy on the motorway trying to convince the police that you rear ended the guy because he stopped too fast.
That’s a great photo and helps explain your point. I respect it. rewinding and watching the start in full speed doesn’t change the fact that Vince’s awesome start didn’t cause a pile up
You have been there, I have been there and we disagree. All good my man.
wish the taking a photo on my screen worked from peacock. Hunter is on the binders, high siding well before the first turn. Still in the straight.
Vince got a great jump, moved over aggressively and did what he had to do to get his start.
I here is to more great racing to come.
Anyone got video of him flattening Deano and taking himself out of the main like an idiot?
We were sitting in 330 and had a fantastic view of the start. I videod each one.
freise was maybe 3-4 gates outside the doghouse. He got a great jump and had 1/2-1 bike on everyone 1/2 way down the straight. Hunter was just to his right and behind him - Hunter should have seen Freise or at least been aware there was a guy there. Vince did come across early and headed right for the inside. Risky move but he had the position and right to make it. It’s a right hander, so no one was covering their rear brake, and at the point Freise turned right no one was on the brakes yet anyway - they were ALL still hard on the gas as they should be - it’s the start of the 450 class!!! Only fault I can see on Vince is how hard he cut right, and how soon.
we like to line up outside at washougal and my son has been very successful there doing that. But, 1, it’s a left so you can cover the brake, and 2, you don’t get 3/4 out and turn hard left or you are gonna get run over by a guy on the inside.
All that said friese was a hazard on the track once they cleared the first turn. He was sketchy as shit everywhere and got in people’s way a lot esp in the 2 sets of whoops. At one point I thought they should black flag him for poor riding. He was all over the damn track not holding any line at all.
Tony has to pissed off. Any chance at getting any Honda parts for that shit ass MCR team is gone. No way Lars gives the anything now.
