new fans wont understand it anyways because they dont know whos who. a new fan doesnt understand what dungey is doing or how big of a deal it is to all of us. i ask my friends all the time that dont know nothing about motocross and they just look at it like dirt bikes going around a track. i think the tv coverage has to be better and they need to cover more guys then just JS and CR so new fans can pick a guy to like and then watch him race. how many times have you seen motocross on espn news? never. i wish that they would bring in better coverage and show the races live to help expand our sport and bring it to a new level. all motocross racers should be like superstars because its one of the coolest sports and one of the hardest. I was gonna say...."Well stated Noob!...now please STFU!".....but since you have been a member for over a year now....i'm going with just "Well stated!" and i agree. More coverage of all the racers.

It pisses me off that the cameras always follow James and Chad around. Weather they are in 1st , 2nd or 12th. Follow the action up front with the top 5 guys the most , and show some great battles going on in the mid pack dudes......They are all part of the race , which Speed and CBS seem to forget sometimes.

Funner to watch by a mile. Anyone can win now. Anyone can podium now. This is the first time we havent had MC, RC, Reed or Stewart win the title in a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong ass time. I enjoyed the hell out of the last race and expect the rest of the year to be amazing.

two huge "mistakes" in the same section in one night?? seriously, what are the odds of that from someone of his caliber?? MC didn't have two get offs that big in his entire career, let alone in one night...

i wasn't there, and you were.... how many other guys crashed in that section?? was that a problem section for everyone else? i was seriously thinking bike problem when RD went off the face so weird and crashed again in the main...

After thinking about it the last couple of weeks, I'm stuck on what to think. We all know James has elevated our sport with the talent he has as well as Reed, but is it really as far as the sport could have gone. The last couple of years it was always whether or not JS would lose it and before that if RC could continue his domination. For moto freaks like most of us, we really do appreciate it because we know the work they put in and can understand what they do on a bike is amazing.

My problem is that with CR and JS just dominating, new fans won't find it as something entertaining. The last few weeks show that. With the bar banging between the top riders and the fact none of them are mad and are ready for more just gets me more excited for the next week. My roomates for example have always watched a few races with me from time to time over the years but always thought it was boring like Nascar. They have been following now almost as much as me just because it is now so much more interesting. I now honestly think if we can just get a few more guys in the battle our sport will reach the next level.

One other question to think of is the outside sponsorship. Sure, JS has brought in some great sponsors but that is because he was the top. If we have multiple top people, that should bring in even more top sponsors since it really all is relative to who is the fastest.

This topic may be stupid but what do you all think. I remember DC saying in a Racerhead months ago that our sport needs JS whether you like it or not, but I'm now starting to have to disagree.
The simple answer is no, the sport isn't better without two of it's top contenders.

Shit happens. Just because MC or RC didn't do it doesn't mean that it can't happen. A 9 second lead in the race and a twenty some point lead in the series doesn't cause much pressure.

Any rider who dominates should be removed from the series immediately. Either establish a socialist series, where all riders must start and finish at the same time, or keep removing dominant riders until you're reduced to riders who don't even know how to release a clutch with a bike in gear and prevent the bike from stalling. They can then all try to find neutral, then try to push their bikes across the finish line.

I think we can find a few riders capable of complete incompetence from this board...

I understand what you'r stating and no, I don't think that the best should be banned. I'm just hoping that in the next couple of years we can get some real racing action without the day time drama. Honestly the whole JS and CR rivalry in my opinion has been blown out of proportion just for the sake of trying to make the racing better to watch. If we have more people out there competing we won't have to go to that direction.

And things look to be getting better. Already this year we have seen that the new rookies can already hang with the top guys. Just wait for Pourcel and Weimer and the rest of the lites guys and maybe what I'm hoping for will be a reality. It seems the last few years everyone excepted that they were not going to get the coverage they deserved because JS and CR were out there. Now the young guns with no expectations are giving it their all and giving everyone else a reality check. It's stated every year that a new breed of riders are coming but the next few years actually seem to keep its promise.

In the end the whole point of this topic was to currently see if the new competition that we are seeing is giving our sport the right direction, and from most responses it is. No doubt, once our top guys get out there we will see if this is all for nothing but something tells me it is not.

I understand what the initial post is saying, but personally, I love to watch the best riders at the top of their game. And if that means they win by a mile so be it. That peak doesn't last forever, as history shows.

i say the more the marrier! It would be much sweeter for the young guns to run down and overtake the old guard and the racing would be great. On the other hand the racing is great now without the 2 top dogs!

RD proved he is capable of running with JS for 20 laps and now two more guys are able to run at the front. Could have been a hell of a battle with 5 guys on the same pace thoughSmile

This weekend maybe we will see 5 guys all on the same pace? But who?? hmmm interesting..

No, because right now we could have 5 guys racing up front instead of the current 3 or last years 2 for 80% of the year. Having CR and JS is what drives guys like RD, RV, and JH. I
hope we have all five of those guys come Daytona.
perfect answer ( imho )

Agree 100% Can you only imagine if you had CR and JS up there in the middle of all this .

I do love watching the best riders when there are the top of there game its simply amazing what they are capable of. But at the same time I tune in to watch racing not see someone on the screen with no one around with a 20 second lead and lapping up to 8th place. Hell I can go to the local track and watch a sand bagger ride by himself and lap up to 8th.
