Bike suggestions?

I want to get a new bike. I havn't rode in about 5 years. I like Yamaha, my last bike was a Honda 250f. I loved it. Just wanted to see what everyone else thinks as far as pros and cons. Thanks.

If your getting a 450 they all have EFI..... So pick a color

250F the only one with EFI is Honda I think

2 smoke KTM300

IMO

I ride Yamaha if that means anything to ya

Buy a NEW '08 CRF450R for under $5K.

2nd choice?

NEW '09 YZ450F for less than $5K.

You can make that Honda a virtaul Works bike on the Cheap!

Btw, I ain't necessarily a "Honda"guy; but

What kind of riding are you doing? Are you looking for another thumper, or are you thinking about a two-stroke as well?

Btw, I ain't necessarily a "Honda"guy; but
I am not a honda guy eitheir had a buddy that had a 07 CRF 450, that bike was awesome.

Do your home work before buying and find a good deal. There are tons of left over bikes out there.

You will find a awesome deal if you dont have to have a 2010. and I bet there is some shop that will deal with the 2010 but later in the year

I have herd stay away from the 09 CRF 450

Mostly desert riding, but not long distance, some dunes, jumps, etc. I am actually thinking of maybe trying to race in the 30+ class if I can

Kawasaki all the way. They got the best 250F out, and their 450 is pretty deadly too with a wicked engine.
Yamaha whould be my second choice.


Stay far from the new Honda's (09/10 crf450 & 2010 crf250)

you dont need to dump $4000 into any bike unless you are a serious racer, or trying to be a serious racer.
If you are a serious racer, $4000 would get lost trying to get a 2 stroke to complete. you could spend $4000 or more just on the suspension.

The new 4 strokes have stupid amounts of power and grunt everywhere through out the RPM range...all of them. All you really need is to set up the suspension for your weight and riding style. And a basic set up is only a couple hundred or so...

The bike does not matter but the color of the rims do. You need to also buy a really cool custom painted helmet.

A good 450 will probably be your best bet for that kind of thing...a flywheel weight may be a good idea until you get used to the power delivery. The main reason Im saying 450 is because youre doing mostly desert riding and I dont think its a great idea to leave a 250F wide open for extended periods of time. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks guys. I definantly thinking about a 450. I have also heard not to run the 250's wide open for too long. I am leaning more towards Yamaha or Kawasaki.

Nothing turns better than a Suzuki period. I like my Yamaha outdoors but every time I ride a tight track i miss Suzuki's!

definitly Suzuki. you can get rmz 450 2009 for a good price, they need to sell them, cuz of getting 2010 bikes.

Suzi's have ALWAYS carved well in corners, but require some extra testicular fortitude on tapped out, bumpy straights(head shake). It's always a trade off and why we all love/hate the brands we do.

Dungey did well at MXDN on a zook and great in SX... I have an 08 Yami 450 and just rode a zook 450 and liked it better. I didnt ride a super fast outdoors track though, my bud says he can't hang the RMZ out like on his 07-08 CRF450 but didnt take any time to set it up yet, hes a much much better rider then me..

well there were 8 Yamaha YZ450 in the 20man supercross race Saturday at Anaheim, CA.

BUT there were 5 Kawasaki's with one being the winner


Jus sayin.....

serisously though, I'd look at who your local dealer is, go check them out.

Save a ton on last years model of anything, Honda CR450 will need mod's to make it rideable.

Yeah I realized I miss read mxrudi's post. I thought he said HE was selling one. Ooops! I am really just trying to see what you guys think cause like I said I havn't been on a bike in at least 5 years let alone trying to buy one, so I havn't done any research on any of them.
