Gorman track

I’ve done my homework.No Petition’s needed or necessary at all. I’ve been in touch with several on the inside & it’s unfortunately gonna be a long drawn out process way way worse than watching paint dry. I believe the MX Part of Gorman won’t Re-Open if we’re lucky until ‘25 or ‘26. This is a painfully ridiculously slow process, which NO AMOUNT of signatures will move it 1 millimeter. We’re unfortunately victims of the process & the governments slow pace within its processes. That’s the sad reality of it all. At some point, it’ll happen, but a timeline, date, or any reasonable anything isn’t even possible to say. FRUSTRATING IT IS.

It sucks Piru is gone. I would hate to see Gorman gone as well.

Time to occupy Gorman...Oh wait, we all have jobs.

Unfortunately, I don't think a FB petition is going to help one bit.  I've written a mountain of letters over the years.  You have to write about specific locations and activities and make sure it goes to the proper government officials.  

What a bummer.  Gorman was such a fun place to ride.

That gave me zero confidence in the track opening any time soon. 
 

Once again, they just don’t care. It’s currently being rented out for special events and the jumps are flattened for those special events. We pay for red/green stickers while they couldn’t care less about us and keeping our riding spots open. They are in zero hurry to get the track opened back up.

Gave me hope. I understand the process involved with digging water wells in our state. Sustainability is the new norm since a ground water law was passed back in 2014. Not sure if you’ve ridden the track when it hasn’t been prepped or watered. There are a few real sketchy sections when it’s dry as bone. Looks like they dumbed it way down for the events. 

Ridden there prepped and unprepped a lot dry, wet, hot, cold, overcast and rainy! Lol. It’s one of my closest tracks so I’ve spun a lot of laps there since the early 2000’s.

Im waiting for it to open back up so I can ride there since it’s been a while since I rode there last. Cant beat $5 for the entire truck! I always enjoyed working on throttle control when I’d show up with the track beat to crap and dry as a bone.

It's the ca ohv way.  Pretty much no new bikes qualify for a green/old red sticker anymore.  Means the ohv program is going to have a massive hit in revenue.  Electric bikes would help to fill that void in revenue, but pretty much non of the electric bikes, sur rons, starks,etc.. get a green sticker either.  Even though they should all get one.  

California will eventually close all ohv places down because no users ( can't ride any bikes there is legally) and no revenue ( can't even register bikes that have zero emissions at the tail pipe).  

It initially shutdown due to a broken water main. Never got fixed.

That place had noise complaints because of the new home construction near by and I think that made it hard to operate. I rode one of the last races there as a kid.

This is why I bought a Beta 500 RRS, it has a plate but is still a very capable MX'er. Also not subject to green/red sticker rules.

no issues with water, although he did hit a water line a few times, it was always a quick repair. No real complaints that I’m aware of, he had just renewed his Ventura County permit shortly before closing it down. He was the last Mx track in Ventura County and probably the last. 

I know the owner that had it last, he was the only one who actually owned the land. Lemon Grove, Maxx Track were renting the land from the lady who owned the land. 
Steve purchased the land and poured his heart and soul into that place. Some loved the deep tilling and some hated it. Some loved the jumps he built, some hated them. 
Reality is that no matter what he did there, some people were always complaining. To the point that he got sick and tired of hearing it and he didn’t want to do it anymore. 
He originally bought the place for his son to have and run. His son got sick of it real fast and got a job as a paramedic and quit riding. Steve continued to keep the place going for a couple more years, until he finally had enough. 
He ended up selling it to a Nursery and they are still there.

It WAS tilled pretty deep in the morning and hard pack in the afternoon, but a fun track none the less. I actually rode my first race there on a kx85!

It's a shame that track ownership seems to be a labor of love. I wish there was enough money for these small tracks to be a proper business with good income. We would see plenty of tracks popping up if the profit was there.
