Hey David,

could you recall here funny stuff that happened when you came to race in Guadalajara Mexico 12 years ago or so i remember actually buying a pair of axo boots from you and a friend of mine bought a bell moto 6 with pro circuit graphics and number 41 on it. did you have to tell mitch the airline lost your gear? was the track good? plenty of fast used to come to the races its a pity the economy isnt as good to have those cool races back.

Do they still have the supercross races in shopping plaza parking lots? I saw a show a looong time ago about them bringing dirt in and building supercross/arenacross tracks in parking lots...it was pretty sweet!

thats the races im talking about it was located inside the city near one of the biggest malls in the city the hotel was right accross the track and riders like Swink, Craig, Button, Brooks, Deegan, Ping, Sheak, Lawrence, Lewis, Amaradio, Wheeler, Goodman, Willow, Bogard, Goodman, Clowers raced one time or another from mexico Erick Vallejo and Pedro Gonzalez were the main riders. it was so cool because usually the races were held during late september early october and you could watch the new bikes and gear. this was before the internet.

That series was really fun back then.. and it was good money! We raced in Monterrey, Guadalajara and a couple other spots. I remember the race you are talking about. I think some local guy got hurt really badly when he tried to drive his Jeep around the track after the race and his buddy flew out of the back over a jump. There was always crazy stuff going on down there. The track was fun; a guy from Texas used to go down and build them... can't remember his name now. Anyway, we had blast at those things. But I have no idea what you are talking about in regards to the gearWink

yep the jeep thing was true and since and my friends dad rented some equipment to build the track we went back on monday and rode it before they tore it down. then we tried to use another jeep to drive through the whole track until the differential broke trying to skim the hoops.

one year kyle lewis got carried away and he almost left the track naked after he won the race because he threw his chest protector helmet jersey and pants to the crowd. and i also remember larry brooks won the first edition after the chain in factory phil`s kawi broke and you were riding a suzuki and jt racing gear.

man i should have taken pics of those races back then.

then in 1995 the crusty crew showed up. at least chad smanjack (sp) wearing furry green freestyle pants. after the race all the local tracks had goons riding in dickies instead of proper racepants.

Ping - The track builder from Texas was Blake Hamilton. He is a hell of a track builder and a super cool guy!

To this day the best tracks I have ever ridden were built by him. My favorite was the MX Oasis in Palestine. It later got shut down due to the whole prostitution / illegal alien thing. Damn shame.

Yeah, Blake can build a great track. His '01-'04 version of Oak Hill was fantastic and it was a damn shame when Larry Morton got his hands on it and screwed the place up so badly. Fortunately, Jeff Oldenberg has turned it around and gotten Oak Hill back to it's former glory.

I went and saw the Oakhill track. It is really nice. I can't believe I've been here riding so long and never been there. Not sure why not? Just never really heard much about it. I don't race anymore, so it had to be from the grapevine. But now that I've seen the place, I know i will be visiting there. Jeff looks to have that place setup right.

By the way, Raton, not really into soccer either. Just the thing you say to Jalisco people LOL... kind of like "cowboys" in Texas. ;-)
