Awesome. Got one from Jamie showing up Friday with gear based mapping.

He mentioned your name. Appreciate the feedback.

I’d be stoked to hear what you think! I’ve tried going to fuel trim 4,4,4 for a bit more snap but still always fall back to 5,5,5.  But this might be elevation or temperature dependent for riders.

Anyone tried thinner enduro rear axle yet? Stock is 25mm but enduro is 22mm and wheel spacers fit inside 25mm bearing and axle blocks to swingarm. That will give more flex for sure. I think KTM went to 22mm rear axle.

Sounds interesting, but honestly don’t know if I need any more compliance on the rear end.  It could possible help side angle rear wheel traction as you exit corners. Hummmm…

Just came in my mind as I been using 19" rear wheel on my WR250f enduro bike but never tried that axle on -23 450f bike. Im not sure if FX models have MX or Enduro rear axle. Its snowing here so cant test now.

Has anyone tried the 23.5mm offset ride engineering triple clamps? Just wondering what people have thought

On my 24 I have the blinking blue light and I think it’s the lap timer. Anyone know how to cut it off? I looked in the app but couldn’t tell much.

If it's still blinking maybe try connecting the app and see if there is a code.

Thanks, I’ll check it again and see what I can come up with.

I had a blinking blue light and I think there was a code. My friend said it was water in the kill switch, so I replaced it.

I put it together out of the box and it was blinking from the first start up, never had that happen

Just got a 24🤩. How is the bearings greased from factory? Are they good or do they need grease before riding? 🙂

they were much better than anticipated, had I known I probably wouldn't have taken the time to do it honestly.

not sure if that means they all come that way or not, but mine was good.

I haven’t torn down a brand new bike to grease all the bearings in probably 20 years. Almost no issues with prematurely worn bearings in that time and I tend to put 100 hours on a bike before getting a new one. I also almost never use a pressure washer to wash my bikes.

Bikes could probably use more grease from the factory, but I’d bet good money on the fact that there’s plenty on almost every bike and that more damage is being done to the bearings with high pressure water than any shortcomings from the manufacturer

I mentioned this back in page 2,3, or 4......ideal set up for moto for '23 YZ 450F:

14-52 sprocket, Forks+2-3mm, Sag 103-105, Revalve F+R to remove stiff harness of stock valving/set up, Magic map if you prefer linear, of Stock Aggressive map if you prefer hard hit. AME grips, stock bars are stiff, and I have tall seat SDG (+.50").

Nothing more needed, except ride, and get used to the diff feel from '22 to '23.

I'm with you on the sag and fork height, but I can't really understand the 14/52 gearing. I know it's all pretty subjective, but one of the main gripes I have about this new bike is the gearing. 2nd and 3rd gear are taller than I'd like with the stock 13/49. I'm currently running 13/50 and still feel like I can't carry 3rd as easily as I'd like to on tighter tracks. Going to 14/52 is taller than the stock gearing and it seems like a step in the wrong direction to me. Maybe the advantages are more related to the leverage of the larger rings or where the axle sits in the swingarm? Maybe it's just better for larger, faster tracks? I love the bike regardless of how picky I am on gearing. I just would really love to run 3rd gear more.

That said, I rode a new Honda 450 the other day and while the suspension and chasis are not as good as my bike, I really loved the motor/tranny. 3rd gear everywhere!

I think the gear depends on tracks. Some of the California tracks are 3-4th gear so 14/52 works. I wouldn’t do that if I was riding...

As far as axle position with 14/52, it’s slightly forward from 13/49, I think it will stretch over time and be pretty close.

Did you ever have any troubles with mis-shifting with stock gearing?

Anyone running vortex tuned by xpr.    Picked up a used one off mx locker.   Did the tps recalibration.    When I first started the bike I noticed the idle was up from the normal 2100 to around 3600 or so.     If I turn it down much more than that it wants to flame out if I blip the throttle at all.

I did notice that when kicking it into gear it no longer idles up like it used to as well.   Besides that it runs great.     Wouldnt think I would need to re adjust idle.   Sound correct?

Gonna try and get ahold of xpr tomorrow but figured I would see if anyone else had one.

Thanks

My thoughts are that it’s mapped for a different bike or maybe the TPS isn’t reset correct?

On the Yamaha I believe neutral is it’s own map so that could explain the change in idle once you go into gear.  The tuners also have the option to map 1st, 2nd and 3-5th separately.

100% sure it's mapped correctly.

Gonna try resetting tps again when I get home from work.   If that doesn't work I will throw the stock ecu back in to confirm everything is ok.   I had all the electrical connections apart to die electric grease them while bike was apart.    Maybe neutral sensor connection isnt seated?

I looked for one but could not find it. The tall guts foam added 25 mm and made a big difference for me.

They didn't have the winged seat version available yet when I ordered it, but if they did now I would recommend it.  This bike is very slim up top and for me at 6'3 I would like there to be more for me to squeeze up around my knees when standing.  IMG 8460.jpg?VersionId=htqHbFg1iOxLnn yZg k22vOvR

what do you mean by setting the TPS? I have always just plugged in the Vortex and ride. I just did mine Saturday. Bought a new vortex, took the stock ecu out and plugged the new one in, done.

Says right in the vortex instructions as well as the map sheet from the tuner to make sure you recalibrate the tps 0% and 100% points.

For new seat, call SDG seats Jeff Christman, Jeff will modify your stock seat to your desired height, shape, etc.  Best seat company in town
