I was thinking the same thing. That pic creeped me out.
Anyone with any common sense wants anyone other than the choices we've been given for decades now.
Both parties are ruled by lobbyists.
Both parties are in it for power and control.
($$$)
The current administration is selling out everything they can for personal gain.
Congressman and senators control the purse strings of their districts back home.
Thus allowing them to wield power over us all.
And profit greatly while doing so.
Pelosi is a perfect example.
Lamar Alexander here in Tennessee(R) was another.
When you can't afford to run a campaign against them, they retain their seat in the DC swamp.
Look how many, who have zero chance at being president, enter the race every four years, fundraising every last nickel they can before dropping out.
I have no idea how anyone can NOT see the truth in what Matt Taibbi and Michael Shellenberger are exposing.
You either understand that the 1st Ammend PROTECTS OUR FREEDOM OF SPEECH or you don’t.
Borg is taking a solid stance on this issue based on our current leadership’s tyranny against our freedoms.
Dude, great posts and excellent explanations of where you stand.
Example…
Can anyone explain how the Biden’s are Mutli-Millionares?
How did they “earn” that money?
Asking for a friend.
...and we are slaves to the "Matrix" in the sense that we are the "batteries" that power the machines.
Democrats suck so bad that I had to make my Stark Varg graphics made like this so I don't get politically misgendered or something at the track. Apparently I can't post these in a Stark thread either. Somebody got butt hurt over it and clipped it.I find that funny.
Clipped? Must have been one of the Libtards no?
They diversified their portfolio. Ukrainian gas, Chinese energy , Russian oligarchs.
No joke.
I dig it! Funny how soft people are now a days, they can mutilate children but the sight of the words “democrats suck” is just shocking. Pretty sick stuff.
I don't really believe that Republicans or Democrats suck. The truth is...people suck. Not everyone or even the majority but politics seems to be a magnet for the unethical among us.
I don't believe a word from their mouths. But, I admit...they do know how to fire up the base and keep the money rolling in. And how to repay those mega donators with beneficial laws and regulations.
Red or blue... neither holds a monopoly on graft and corruption. It's the same as it ever was.
Term limits wouldn’t totally cure that but it would put a severe damper on it. Add getting rid of lobbyists and making our term limited law makers work from their home districts where they would be held more accountable and you’ve cured MOST of the problem.
Good ideas. I'd go farther...limited donations from individuals and NO corporate money AT ALL. Financial/tax status public knowledge from the moment they throw their hat in the ring.
No elected official should be allowed to "invest" in businesses that their position gives them advance knowledge of govt investment or new regulations. Hell...it's like having a time machine. They know before anyone else that "company A" is about to get a huge govt contract....and their broker is on speed dial.
Well you have one party (Republicans - yes they’re garbage) that are always bringing eloquent speeches of admonishment against the other party (Democrats - which are outright criminals but they hold the power). And these speeches do absolutely nothing. They have absolutely no impact on anything and produce about as much societal change as a barking Pomeranian.
When was the last time you heard a Democrat give a wonderful speech and completely win the argument in Congress? Never, because they don’t worry about what the Republicans are doing. The Democrats are doing all behind closed doors.
“Fan base?”
Are you familiar with the term “illusion of grandeur?”
Pit Row
"NO corporate money AT ALL"
If you want to keep corporations from participating in the political system then stop taxing them and passing hostile legislation against them.
"No taxation without representation"
Term limits would need to apply to staffers as well to be effective. Can't vote out the politician and expect change if the same shitheels are still working behind the scenes.
Lobbyists are the conduit for everything, they are the money flow from the special interests (mostly big business) to the political parties. Super PAC's and all the bullshit political "organizations" that are funded by the same big business donors to get who they want elected. And the expect that favor to be returned once their chosen few are in office.
Lobbyists write the majority of the bills for their corporate clients, and then find a Congressman or Senator to sign on to promote their bill for them. The Senator or Congressman then goes around to all their fellow politicians to gather "support" for their bill. Which always involves "returning the favor" down the line for the next bill introduced by some lobbyists or special interest group.
Politicians do not give one shit about the average citizen voter, they just have to act like they care.
You get nowhere in politics without money, money comes from lobbyists for the corporate clients. In Congress and the Senate, your political status is your appointment to the various committee's and your position within that committee.
How much money you bring in for your party is how those assignments are doled out, not qualifications or knowledge of the subject, money.
In past years, for business related Municipal contract reasons, and at the direction of our hired lobbyist firms, I have been a donor to both parties (lobbyists at the State level). Because of that I am on the "call list" for numerous politicians, mostly at the state level but some are now in Congress. I am small potatoes in the political donation game, yet I still get regular calls from current US Congressmen for donations.
I think it was Newt Gingrich who changed the rules for PAC's and dark money contributions, that forever made politics dirty. No one in Congress or the Senate would ever have the power to take away the cash flow. It would be political suicide.
…which is exactly why they need to be eliminated.
I’m amazed at people still living with their heads in the sand. There is no longer freedom of speech. The Constitution as we know it is no more. Yes there are remnants of what used to be, but try and search out Hinter Biden laptop, or election fraud, or Biden Ukraine Energy Company, etc.
I was also on the "list" at one time here in California but not for donations. My company was volunteering my time for our industry lobbyist. At the time, there was a witch hunt going on for any industry using "CFC's". Ours was not but we were guilty by association. To shorten the rather boring story, our lobbyist lost. At the last minute. A politician changed his mind. He must have gotten a better offer. At the time, there were 23 individually owned facilities in So. California. Within 10 to 15 years the number totaled 2.
Our survival depended on our lobbyist and it should not have been that way. Other than lobbying, what were we to do?
Complaining about the system is really easy. Workable solutions and the small print are where the sausage gets made.
There are guys on this board who will rail against Twitter and Facebook for denying freedom of speech and then turn right around and suggest ways to silence people because they have the title of lobbyist.
Like I said, the devil is in the details.
BTW, you described the process very well. Not many people understand how congressional leadership and committee assignments work.
The Stanford Internet Observatory is referenced there-in…& SISA…along with the USAFs misuse of authority as they directly interfered with civilian affairs (don’t hear about that too often).
Section 230 might actually get some teeth and be utilized to enforce the 1st Amendment.
